Mariners signed RHP Jeff Marquez to a minor league contract.

Marquez gave up a run over just four innings this season for the Yankees after beginning the year in the White Sox organization. He'll likely compete for a roster spot as a long man out of the bullpen.

White Sox sent RHP Jeff Marquez outright to Triple-A Charlotte.

It's a bit surprising that Marquez wasn't claimed on waivers after posting a 3.63 ERA and 16/2 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings this spring, but the White Sox will gladly keep him. Because Marquez was removed from the 40-man, look for both Brent Lillibridge and Lastings Milledge to make the Opening Day roster.
