Rockies reassigned RHP Mike McClendon, LHP Nick Schmidt, C Jose Gonzalez, INFs Tommy Manzella and Henry Wrigley and OF Kent Matthes to minor league camp.

Rockies signed RHP Mike McClendon to a minor league contract.

The deal includes a spring training invite. McClendon, 27, posted a 6.43 ERA in nine appearances with the Brewers this past season and had a 4.19 ERA and 27/18 K/BB ratio over 43 innings at the Triple-A level. He'll likely function as organizational depth in 2013.

He was sent down to make room for Marco Estrada's return from the disabled list on Tuesday. McClendon has a 6.75 ERA and 4/4 K/BB ratio over eight innings with the Brewers this season. He should be back later this summer.

He was cleared to make room for the return of Zach Braddock. McClendon earned the win Friday and has a 2.63 ERA and 10/3 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings with the Brewers this season, so it's not as if he was pitching poorly. He'll be back eventually.

McClendon was sent down to make room for LaTroy Hawkins last month, but he'll now take the place of Sean Green on the active roster. The 26-year-old right-hander tossed a scoreless inning in his only appearance with the club last month and posted a 3.00 ERA and 21/7 K/BB ratio over 21 innings last season. He'll function in middle relief.

Brewers optioned RHP Mike McClendon and RHP Justin James to Triple-A Nashville.

That settles the Milwaukee bullpen. Mitch Stetter, Sean Green and Brandon Kintzler claimed the openings alongside John Axford, Takashi Saito, Kameron Loe, Zach Braddock and Sergio Mitre. They'll all be on the bubble for a while, though, as the Brewers will have to add a fifth starter in mid-April, plus they could get Manny Parra and LaTroy Hawkins back around the same time. Kintzler is the fantasy sleeper in the group.
