Rays purchased the contract of OF/DH Shelley Duncan from Triple-A Durham.

Duncan was reassigned to minor league camp earlier this month, but he's back with the big club after Luke Scott's injury. He should see plenty of time in the DH slot against lefties while Scott is out.

Duncan, 33, batted just .203/.288/.388 in 264 plate appearances last season for the Indians. He will operate as organizational outfield depth in 2013 for Tampa Bay.

Shelley Duncan has elected to become a free agent.

Duncan refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Columbus and will instead look to latch on with an organization that will give him a shot at a 25-man roster spot. The 33-year-old outfielder hit .203/.288/.388 in 264 plate appearances this past season for the Tribe.

Indians designated OF/DH Shelley Duncan for assignment.

The move clears a spot for Jeanmar Gomez on the active roster. Duncan, 32, is hitting .203/.288/.388 with 11 homers and a .676 OPS over 264 plate appearances with the Indians this season. He could draw some interest elsewhere as a righty bat off the bench.

Shelley Duncan hit his first career grand slam to account for all of the Indians' scoring Friday against the A's.

Duncan was 7-for-20 (.350) with the bases loaded in his career, but his only extra-base hit was a double. If only the Indians would decide to release Duncan tomorrow (and no one else picked him up), he'd finish the season with 11 homers and 29 runs scored for the third straight year. However, it looks like he'll get another 60-80 at-bats to add to those totals.

Shelley Duncan smashed a two-run homer on Tuesday in a losing effort against the Twins.

Duncan finished the evening 1-for-3. His second inning blast off Samuel Deduno gave the Tribe an early 3-1 lead that they were unable to protect and hold onto. While his .224 average is uninspiring, Duncan has flashed solid power in limited playing time, with 10 taters and 27 RBI in 192 at-bats on the season.

Shelley Duncan went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Sunday's loss to the Twins.

Duncan's fourth-inning knock off of Brian Duensing plated the Indians' only run. The part-time outfielder had been mired in a 1-for-16 slump entering this afternoon, and is hitting just .225/.321/.423 on the season. He's struggling to stay on the radar in AL-only leagues.

Shelley Duncan homered and drove home two as the Indians topped the Rays 7-3 in Cleveland on Saturday.

Duncan's two-run blast off Wade Davis in the eighth inning provided valuable insurance runs, increasing the Indians lead to 7-2. He's now hitting .222 with eight homers and 22 RBI on the season, though he's likely to only see sporadic at-bats with Travis Hafner back and occupying the DH slot in the lineup.

Indians activated OF-DH Shelley Duncan from the paternity leave list.

The new father of twin boys, Duncan will return to his role as an occasional starter in left field and at DH, though his chances at DH will be few and far between with Travis Hafner back.

Indians placed OF-DH Shelley Duncan on the paternity leave list.

Travis Hafner was activated from the disabled list in a corresponding roster move. Duncan can remain on the paternity leave list for 24 to 72 hours.

Shelley Duncan homered for the third time in his last four games on Tuesday night, powering the Indians to a 9-5 victory over the Angels.

He finished up with two RBI. Duncan's big fly was a solo shot off Dan Haren in the fourth inning, and he also added a sacrifice fly. Duncan now has seven homers and 19 RBI on the season, though his atrocious .221 batting average is difficult to stomach for fantasy purposes.

Shelley Duncan homered and ripped two doubles in Sunday's win over the Orioles.

Duncan notched two runs and two RBI. Coming off a June where he received just 43 at-bats and hit .209/.292/.326, Duncan is off the radar in a large majority of AL-only leagues.
