Blue Jays signed INF Brian Bocock to a minor league contract.

The Blue Jays announced the signing last weekend. According to Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com, Bocock could earn $480,000 if he makes the Opening Day roster. The 26-year-old infielder has a .227/.302/.307 career batting line in the minors, so he's unlikely to make an impact.

Phillies sent INF Brian Bocock outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The move was made in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Bocock is batting just .219/.267/.299 with three homers over 53 games for Lehigh Valley this season.

Phillies activated INF Brian Bocock from the disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Bocock was placed on the disabled list just before the start of the regular season with a fracture in his left wrist. Now that he's nearing full health, the Phillies will use him as organizational infield depth.

Phillies placed INF Brian Bocock on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with a left wrist fracture.

Bocock has been sidelined since March 8 with the injury. There's no current timetable for his return, but he'll likely report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley once he's ready.

Phillies recalled SS Brian Bocock from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The Phillies needed some infield insurance with Jimmy Rollins dealing with a hamstring injury. Bocock shouldn't be on your fantasy radar.

Phillies designated INF Brian Bocock for assignment.

He is a decent glove man but can't hit a lick. With Chase Utley and Placido Polanco out, the Phillies chose offense over defense in sending Bocock out and bringing Cody Ransom up.

Phillies recalled INF Brian Bocock from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The Phils lost second baseman Chase Utley and third baseman Placido Polanco to the disabled list Tuesday and were in desperate need of infield depth. So they called up Bocok, who has a .179/.239/.231 batting line in 65 games this season at Triple-A. Let's hope he is used only in an emergency.

Phillies optioned INF Brian Bocock to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The Phils claimed Bocock off waivers this winter from the Blue Jays. He went 6-for-15 (.400) this spring, but there was simply not enough room on the club's talented 25-man roster. The 25-year-old hit .230/.302/.316 with three home runs and 51 RBI between two minor league levels last season.

Phillies claimed IF Brian Bocock off waivers from the Blue Jays.

Bocock, who was claimed off waivers from the Giants earlier this month, is quickly becoming the Hot Stove's hot potato. The 24-year-old shortstop hit .143 in 77 at-bats with the Giants in 2008 and hasn't made much progress at the plate since, batting just .230/.302/.316 with three home runs and 51 RBI between two levels in San Francisco's minor league system last season. He doesn't offer much besides a nice glove.

Blue Jays claimed shortstop Brian Bocock off waivers from the Giants.

Bocock was designated for assignment by the Giants earlier this week. The 24-year-old shortstop batted .230/.302/.316 with three home runs and 51 RBI between Class A San Jose and Double-A Connecticut in 2009, but hit .143 in 77 at-bats with the big club in 2008. His glove is fantastic, but he likely won't see the majors again unless he can contribute more on offense.

The Blue Jays have claimed shortstop Brian Bocock off waivers from the Giants, reports Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News.

Bocock, 24, was designated for assignment by the Giants earlier this week. Known more for his glove, Bocock batted .230/.302/.316 with home runs and 51 RBI between Class A San Jose and Double-A Connecticut. He's a longshot to stick in the majors if he can't contribute with the bat.

Giants designated shortstop Brian Bocock for assignment.

San Francisco needed the roster space after making Juan Uribe's signing official. The 24-year-old Bocock had a chance to nail down the Giants' starting shortstop job in 2008, but hit just .143/.258/.156 in 93 plate appearances before getting shipped back to Triple-A Fresno. The Giants are giving up on him after he posted just a .612 OPS in four minor league seasons. Expect him to latch on with another club's Triple-A affiliate.

Triple-A Fresno's Brian Bocock went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts on Tuesday and is 4-for-31 since being sent down.

It's like the Giants said to themselves, "Let's destroy whatever shred of confidence he might have left after he hit .143 in 77 major league at-bats." Except they probably wouldn't have used that many big words. Bocock hit .220 in high-A ball last year. He belongs back there or in Double-A.
