Braves activated RHP Chris Withrow from the 15-day disabled list.
Withrow landed on the disabled list August 8 with right elbow inflammation, but an MRI taken a week later showed no structural damage and he'll be back in the Braves' bullpen on Thursday afternoon. The 27-year-old right-hander holds a decent 3.31 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 25/14 K/BB ratio in 32 2/3 innings this season. Sep 1 - 10:24 AM

An MRI on Chris Withrow's ailing right elbow showed no structural damage.

It's especially a relief since he had Tommy John surgery two years ago. Withrow will resume playing catch on Tuesday and could be back in the Braves' bullpen before the end of the month if all goes well.
Aug 14 - 9:07 AM

Braves placed RHP Chris Withrow on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

Chaz Roe, claimed off waivers from the Orioles on Sunday, will take over the vacant bullpen spot. Withrow has posted a decent 3.31 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 25/14 K/BB ratio across 32 2/3 innings this season for the Braves. It's not clear when he might return.
Aug 8 - 3:41 PM

Chris Withrow tossed a perfect 11th inning and picked up his first big-league win since 2013 in Wednesday's victory over the Giants.

Withrow struck out two of the three batters he faced in the 11th inning, breezing through a perfect frame. He picked up the win once Freddie Freeman connected with a walk-off homer in the bottom of the same inning. The 27-year-old has been up and down from the minors twice already this year and has a 2.53 ERA in 10 2/3 innings.
Jun 1 - 11:34 PM

Braves recalled RHP Chris Withrow from Triple-A Gwinnett.

He'll be taking Casey Kelly's spot on the active roster. Withrow has been lights out in the minors, allowing just one unearned run over 8 1/3 innings for Gwinnett. He produced a respectable 3.86 ERA over 10 appearances for the Braves earlier this year.
May 26 - 5:55 PM

Braves optioned RHP Chris Withrow to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Withrow posted a 3.86 ERA and 4/5 K/BB ratio over seven relief innings with the big club. He'll get another shot eventually.
May 1 - 9:36 AM

Braves recalled RHP Chris Withrow from Triple-A Gwinnett.

He's taking John Gant's spot in the bullpen. Withrow missed last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Apr 10 - 10:51 AM

Braves optioned RHP Chris Withrow to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The move comes as a mild surprise. Clearly the Braves don't think the hard-throwing right-hander is fully recovered yet from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. Withrow will be up in the Atlanta bullpen soon enough.
Mar 14 - 8:46 AM

Braves and RHP Chris Withrow avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $610,000 contract.

Withrow was acquired from the Dodgers last May in a big six-player swap. He missed the entire 2015 season following Tommy John surgery, but the hard-throwing right-hander should carry a clean bill of health into 2016 and could become a prominent late-inning guy in Atlanta before the summer is through. Withrow, 26, owns a 2.73 ERA, 1.089 WHIP, and 71 strikeouts in 56 career major league innings.
Jan 14 - 4:00 PM

Braves activated RHP Chris Withrow from the 60-day disabled list.

He's now back on the 40-man roster. Withrow missed 2015 following Tommy John surgery but should be ready for Opening Day next year and could be a factor in the Braves' bullpen.

Chris Withrow (elbow) is not expected to pitch this season.

Withrow, who was acquired from the Dodgers in the Alberto Callaspo-Juan Uribe deal, had Tommy John surgery last June and back surgery over the winter. He's making progress, but won't be a factor for the Braves until 2016.

Braves acquired RHP Chris Withrow and 3B Juan Uribe from the Dodgers for INF Alberto Callaspo, LHP Eric Stults, LHP Ian Thomas, and RHP Juan Jaime.

Withrow underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery last June and probably won't become an option for the Braves' bullpen until after the All-Star break. The 26-year-old right-hander had posted a promising 2.73 ERA, 1.089 WHIP, and 71 strikeouts in 56 career major league innings before tearing his right ulnar collateral ligament. He could be a nice find for Atlanta if he makes a full recovery.

Dodgers placed RHP Chris Withrow on the 60-day disabled list.

This is nothing more than a procedural move to open a spot on the 40-man roster for Brandon Beachy who was signed on Saturday. Withrow is currently recovering from Tommy John surgery and isn't expected back until around midseason.

Chris Withrow had surgery last week to repair a herniated disk in his lower back.

Withrow has dealt with chronic back problems during his career and decided to get the issue addressed. He's currently in rehab mode from Tommy John surgery this past June, so it shouldn't delay his return to the mound. He's unlikely to contribute until around midseason next year.
Thu, Dec 11, 2014 04:45:00 PM

Dodgers transferred RHP Chris Withrow from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears room on the 40-man roster for Miguel Rojas. Withrow is out for the season following Tommy John surgery.
