Chris Narveson (finger) could make another rehab start after being knocked around for five runs -- three earned -- while walking five over 4 2/3 frames his last time out.
The left-hander has yet to pitch five innings during any of his four rehab outings and has allowed 14 runs -- 12 earned -- over his last 11 innings. The Brewers need a starter for the upcoming week, but it appears that it will not be Narveson. Jun 16 - 9:25 AM

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke is unsure what role Chris Narveson (finger) will fill when he's activated from the disabled list.

"We're going to have to look at it when the time comes," Roenicke said. Narveson is being stretched out as a starter and will make one more start before the Brewers decide what to do with him. It would be a surprise if he's not added to the rotation next week.
Jun 10 - 9:40 PM

Chris Narveson (finger) made his first rehab appearance Thursday with Triple-A Nashville.

He gave up one hit over two scoreless innings and was removed after 22 pitches. It was the first of four rehab starts Narveson will need before he rejoins the Brewers. He remains on track for a mid-June return.
Jun 1 - 9:37 AM

Chris Narveson (finger) is tentatively scheduled to make four rehab starts.

His first will come on Thursday at Triple-A Nashville. Narveson will be stretched out to around the 75-80 pitch mark before the Brewers consider adding him to the rotation. He's been limited to two appearances this season due to a sprained middle finger.
May 28 - 10:08 PM

Chris Narveson (finger) will be stretched out as a starter when he begins a rehab assignment next week.

The Brewers were using Narveson in relief before he suffered a sprained middle finger in early April, but injuries could provide him with an opportunity in the starting rotation. It's not clear how many starts he'll make in the minors before being activated.
May 24 - 5:54 PM

Chris Narveson (finger) is scheduled to face live hitters on Friday.

It will come after another successful bullpen session on Tuesday. If Friday's session goes well, Narveson will begin a rehab assignment early next week. "The finger felt good. Just kind of taking it day by day and see how it goes Friday against hitters," Narveson said. "You’re just trying to prepare yourself and get your body ready to pitch again. I think you expect yourself to hit the ground running once you come back."

May 21 - 8:59 PM

Chris Narveson (finger) threw a bullpen session over the weekend in Cincinnati and is scheduled for another one while the Brewers are in Pittsburgh.

The left-hander should be ready for a rehab assignment after that. Assuming all goes well, it sounds like Narveson might be ready to return before the end of the month.
May 15 - 7:30 PM

Chris Narveson played catch on Saturday afternoon for the first time since spraining his left middle finger during a bullpen session on April 6.

He's still at least a few weeks away from returning to Milwaukee's active roster, but it's a step in the right direction for the left-hander. The Brewers are expected to use Narveson in relief initially, but he could eventually get a look in the starting rotation.
Apr 27 - 7:38 PM

Chris Narveson (finger) is expected to be sidelined 4-6 weeks.

Narveson sprained his left middle finger while throwing a curveball in the bullpen prior to an appearance on April 6. "I felt a pop, just like a knuckle pop," he said. "It started stiffening up and I couldn’t really grip anything that whole inning." The left-hander will return to a long relief role, at the earliest, in early May.

Apr 9 - 6:03 PM

Brewers placed LHP Chris Narveson on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 7, with a sprained left middle finger.

The Brewers have yet to announce a corresponding roster move, but it's expected to be a position player. Narveson has allowed one hit and one walk over two scoreless innings of relief this season.
Apr 8 - 6:00 PM

Chris Narveson is dealing with a left finger injury.

The Brewers depleted their bullpen in an extra-innings loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday, so they can't afford to wait on Narveson. The 31-year-old left-hander is a candidate to be placed on the disabled list.
Apr 8 - 3:05 PM

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke announced Friday that Chris Narveson will begin the season in a long-relief role.

Roenicke indicated that it's purely as a precautionary move so that they can ease him back into action after recovering from last year's shoulder surgery. They believe that limiting his innings to begin the season would be in his best interest long-term. That means that both Wily Peralta and Mike Fiers will begin the season in the rotation.

Mar 29 - 6:38 PM

Chris Narveson was smoked for six runs over 3 2/3 innings Monday against the Athletics.

Ouch. Narveson gave up eight hits -- including a grand slam to Chris Young -- while walking five and striking out a pair. He now owns a 5.50 ERA this spring. While we wouldn't mind if he got booted from the rotation in favor of the newly-signed Kyle Lohse, it appears that the decision will come down to either Mike Fiers or Wily Peralta.
Mar 25 - 7:51 PM

Chris Narveson tossed six innings of shutout ball in Wednesday's 0-0 tie with the Giants.

Narveson didn't issue a single walk and he allowed only one hit. He struck out four. The left-hander is expected to serve as the Brewers' fourth starter this season, behind Yovani Gallardo, Marco Estrada and Wily Peralta.
Mar 20 - 6:56 PM

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke confirmed Tuesday that his rotation alignment will consist of Yovani Gallardo, Marco Estrada, Wily Peralta, Chris Narveson and Mike Fiers.

The order is subject to change, but Gallardo, Estrada and Peralta currently line up for the first series of the season against the Rockies. Mark Rogers' struggles this spring have made the inclusion of Narveson a foregone conclusion, though the left-hander still has a lot to prove coming off shoulder surgery.
