Chris Narveson has a left elbow sprain.
Narveson, who was reassigned to minor league camp Wednesday, will be shut down for about a week and might get off to a late start this season. The 33-year-old left-hander will presumably be sent to Triple-A New Orleans whenever he gets healthy. Mar 19 - 1:37 PM

Marlins reassigned LHP Chris Narveson to minor league camp.

After spending the 2014 season in Japan, Narveson allowed one run in four innings across two appearances this spring, but it wasn't enough to get a long look to make the Opening Day roster. The southpaw could hang around as minor league depth.
Mar 18 - 9:20 AM

Chris Narveson, back from Japan, struck out the side in his inning versus the University of Miami on Tuesday.

Narveson, who won 23 games for the Brewers between 2009 and 2010, is going to try to make the Marlins as a reliever after going 4-11 with a 4.53 ERA in 24 starts for the Yakult Swallows last season.
Mar 3 - 4:15 PM

Marlins signed LHP Chris Narveson to a minor league contract.

Narveson last pitched in the majors in 2013, spending this past season with Yakult of Japan's Central League. The southpaw had a 4.53 ERA in 24 starts with Yakult.

Chris Narveson has signed with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows of Japan's Central League.

Narveson, 32, has been limited to just four appearances in the majors over the past two seasons due to shoulder issues. He'll attempt to get his career back on track in Japan.

Chris Narveson has elected free agency.

Not unexpected, as Narveson was a logical non-tender candidate this offseason. The 31-year-old southpaw was limited to just two appearances with the Brewers this season due to shoulder issues.

Chris Narveson's season is likely over due to a nerve issue near his throwing shoulder.

Narveson missed most of last season after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum and rotator cuff. The left-hander is arbitration-eligible for a second time this winter but is a non-tender candidate.

Chris Narveson is expected to be called up to start on Wednesday in place of the injured Tom Gorzelanny (elbow).

Gorzelanny had to leave his last outing after being struck on the pitching elbow by a line drive. He hasn't been placed on the DL at this point, but the Brewers will need someone to fill in for him Wednesday, and it appears that Narveson is the choice. Narveson has pitched better at Triple-A Nashville of late, tossing seven shutout innings in his last outing. He'll need to be added to the 40-man roster.

Brewers activated LHP Chris Narveson from the 15-day disabled list, sent him outright to Triple-A Nashville.

Narveson would be in the Brewers' rotation by now if he was pitching better, but he's put up a 7.00 ERA over five rehab starts with Nashville. He still seems likely to get a chance eventually, but he obviously needs to pick it up.

Chris Narveson (finger) could make another rehab start after being knocked around for five runs -- three earned -- while walking five over 4 2/3 frames his last time out.

The left-hander has yet to pitch five innings during any of his four rehab outings and has allowed 14 runs -- 12 earned -- over his last 11 innings. The Brewers need a starter for the upcoming week, but it appears that it will not be Narveson.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke is unsure what role Chris Narveson (finger) will fill when he's activated from the disabled list.

"We're going to have to look at it when the time comes," Roenicke said. Narveson is being stretched out as a starter and will make one more start before the Brewers decide what to do with him. It would be a surprise if he's not added to the rotation next week.

Chris Narveson (finger) made his first rehab appearance Thursday with Triple-A Nashville.

He gave up one hit over two scoreless innings and was removed after 22 pitches. It was the first of four rehab starts Narveson will need before he rejoins the Brewers. He remains on track for a mid-June return.

Chris Narveson (finger) is tentatively scheduled to make four rehab starts.

His first will come on Thursday at Triple-A Nashville. Narveson will be stretched out to around the 75-80 pitch mark before the Brewers consider adding him to the rotation. He's been limited to two appearances this season due to a sprained middle finger.

Chris Narveson (finger) will be stretched out as a starter when he begins a rehab assignment next week.

The Brewers were using Narveson in relief before he suffered a sprained middle finger in early April, but injuries could provide him with an opportunity in the starting rotation. It's not clear how many starts he'll make in the minors before being activated.

Chris Narveson (finger) is scheduled to face live hitters on Friday.

It will come after another successful bullpen session on Tuesday. If Friday's session goes well, Narveson will begin a rehab assignment early next week. "The finger felt good. Just kind of taking it day by day and see how it goes Friday against hitters," Narveson said. "You’re just trying to prepare yourself and get your body ready to pitch again. I think you expect yourself to hit the ground running once you come back."
