Date:

Nick Evans has not yet signed a contract with Japan's Rakuten Golden Eagles.

A report Saturday suggested that the deal was done, but it appears that was premature. Evans remains on the Diamondbacks' roster for now, though he is expected to sign with Rakuten in the coming days. "It's definitely something I had in my mind that would be exciting to do, but as of right now I'm still a Diamondback," he said.

Diamondbacks released 1B/OF Nick Evans.

Evans has agreed to a deal with Japan's Rakuten Golden Eagles, so the Diamondbacks have released him from his contract. The 28-year-old has appeared in 16 games with the D'Backs this season, slashing .238/.238/.476 with a homer and four RBI in his 21 at-bats.

Diamondbacks purchased the contract of 1B/OF Nick Evans from Triple-A Reno.

May 28 - 3:27 PM

Diamondbacks reassigned INFs Nick Evans, Nick Ahmed, Jake Lamb, OF Danny Dorn, RHPs Adam Russell, Matt Stites, Jake Barrett, Mike Bolsinger and C Bobby Wilson to minor league camp.

As is the case with early spring cuts, there are no real surprises among the group here. Evans, who was signed late last spring, slashed .267/.357/.449 with 19 homers and 81 RBI at Double-A Mobile in 2013.
Mar 9 - 5:10 PM

Diamondbacks signed INF Nick Evans to a minor league contract.

Evans hit .214/.313/.214 with two RBI in 14 at-bats for the Dodgers this spring before being released on March 18. He's displayed solid power potential in the minors before, and could be a candidate to see time as a reserve outfielder for the D'Backs if Cody Ross has to spend more time than anticipated on the DL. For now, he'll serve as depth at the Triple-A level.

Dodgers released INF Nick Evans.

Evans, 27, was reassigned to minor league camp earlier this month. The former Met appeared in just 21 games with the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate last season prior to undergo surgery in May to repair a broken left hand. He'll attempt to latch on elsewhere.

Pirates reassigned 1B-OF Nick Evans to minor league camp.

Pirates signed INF-OF Nick Evans to a minor league contract.

He'll also receive an invite to spring training. Evans, who turns 26 in January, has a .256/.305/.407 batting line over 419 plate appearances in the big leagues as a member of the Mets. While he was underutilized in New York, he stands a decent chance to earn a bench spot on the Bucs' Opening Day roster.

Nick Evans has declared free agency.

Evans was outrighted off the Mets' 40-man roster earlier this month. The 25-year-old has struggled to get regular playing time in the big leagues, but has a reputation for knocking around left-handed pitching. He shouldn't have any problem finding a new home.
