Diamondbacks reassigned INFs Nick Evans, Nick Ahmed, Jake Lamb, OF Danny Dorn, RHPs Adam Russell, Matt Stites, Jake Barrett, Mike Bolsinger and C Bobby Wilson to minor league camp.
As is the case with early spring cuts, there are no real surprises among the group here. Evans, who was signed late last spring, slashed .267/.357/.449 with 19 homers and 81 RBI at Double-A Mobile in 2013. Mar 9 - 5:10 PM

Diamondbacks signed INF Nick Evans to a minor league contract.

Evans hit .214/.313/.214 with two RBI in 14 at-bats for the Dodgers this spring before being released on March 18. He's displayed solid power potential in the minors before, and could be a candidate to see time as a reserve outfielder for the D'Backs if Cody Ross has to spend more time than anticipated on the DL. For now, he'll serve as depth at the Triple-A level.

Dodgers released INF Nick Evans.

Evans, 27, was reassigned to minor league camp earlier this month. The former Met appeared in just 21 games with the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate last season prior to undergo surgery in May to repair a broken left hand. He'll attempt to latch on elsewhere.

Dodgers signed INF Nick Evans to a minor league contract.

The deal includes a spring training invite. Evans, formerly of the Mets, appeared in just 21 games with the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate this season prior to undergoing surgery in May to repair a broken left hand. He'll be a long shot to win a spot on the Opening Day roster.

Pirates' minor league infielder Nick Evans underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a broken left hand.

Evans, formerly of the Mets, was hitting .197/.263/.324 with two homers, nine RBI and a .586 OPS over 80 plate appearances with Triple-A Indianapolis. There's no timetable for his return.

Pirates reassigned 1B-OF Nick Evans to minor league camp.

Evans failed to impress this spring, batting just .107 (3-for-28) with one homer and a 10/1 K/BB ratio. The Pirates also send catchers Eric Fryer and Jake Fox over to the minor league side.

Pirates signed INF-OF Nick Evans to a minor league contract.

He'll also receive an invite to spring training. Evans, who turns 26 in January, has a .256/.305/.407 batting line over 419 plate appearances in the big leagues as a member of the Mets. While he was underutilized in New York, he stands a decent chance to earn a bench spot on the Bucs' Opening Day roster.

Nick Evans has declared free agency.

Evans was outrighted off the Mets' 40-man roster earlier this month. The 25-year-old has struggled to get regular playing time in the big leagues, but has a reputation for knocking around left-handed pitching. He shouldn't have any problem finding a new home.

Mets sent INF-OF Nick Evans outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

Evans hit .256/.314/.403 with four homers over 59 games for the Mets this season. The 25-year-old can elect free agency if he so chooses.

Nick Evans went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and an RBI double in the Mets' 7-4 win over the Phillies on Wednesday.

Evans is in the majors for his ability to hit lefties, but he did his damage against righties today. He's actually 7-for-20 with five extra-base hits against righties this season, so the Mets may want to give him a few more starts at first base.

Mets purchased the contract of INF-OF Nick Evans from Triple-A Buffalo.

This will be his third stint with the Mets this season. While Evans has drawn eight walks, he is batting just .148 with one home run and three RBI over 35 plate appearances. He is unlikely to be fantasy relevant.

Mets sent INF-OF Nick Evans outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

Evans was designated for assignment last week but has cleared waivers and will remain in the organization. He'll return to a .329/.378/.480 batting line with seven homers in 225 at-bats at Buffalo.

Mets designated INF/OF Nick Evans for assignment.

The move was made to clear space on the Mets' 25-man roster for David Wright, who has been activated from the 15-day disabled list. Evans was hitting .148 with one home run and three RBI through his first 27 at-bats this season.

Mets purchased the contract of INF/OF Nick Evans from Triple-A Buffalo.

He'll replace the injured Jose Reyes on the active roster. Evans was scorching hot with the bat in the minor leagues, but he has an underwhelming .243/.298/.387 batting line over 242 major league plate appearances. At the very least, he at least gives Terry Collins another right-handed bat off the bench.

Nick Evans exploded with a 5-for-5 performance Wednesday for Triple-A Buffalo, extending his hitting streak to 19 games.

Evans is batting a mind-blowing 38-for-74 (.513) during the streak, and is now hitting .328 in the minors this season. The versatile 25-year-old fared poorly in an earlier call-up, but remains a candidate for another promotion later this season, particularly if the Mets end up trading one or more of their current starters.
