Royals released OF Carlos Peguero.
FOX Sports 1's CJ Nitkowski reported last month that Peguero was receiving interest from Japanese clubs, so perhaps he's close to an overseas deal. The 27-year-old has hit just .196/.245/.379 over 229 big league plate appearances. Dec 19 - 2:04 PM

Jeffrey Flanagan of FOX Sports Kansas City reports that the Royals have had internal discussions about committing to Carlos Peguero in a timeshare role in right field and at designated hitter.

The Royals are courting Torii Hunter, and it sounds like if they land him they could split his duty between right field and DH with Peguero. FOX Sports 1's CJ Nitkowski reported Tuesday that Peguero was receiving interest from Japanese clubs, but it sounds like he may have an opportunity in the states.
Nov 19 - 11:46 AM

FOX Sports 1's CJ Nitkowski reports that Carlos Peguero is receiving interest from a team in Japan's Central League.

Peguero hasn't had trouble putting up big home run totals in the minors, most recently slugging 30 bombs at Triple-A for the Royals this past season. He hasn't been given much of a chance in the majors, though, and will turn 28 in February. It might be time for him to give it a shot overseas.
Nov 18 - 12:05 PM

Royals purchased the contract of OF Carlos Peguero from Triple-A Omaha.

Peguero will function as a utility outfielder for the Royals down the stretch. He is not fantasy-relevant.
Sep 1 - 2:02 PM

Royals sent OF Carlos Peguero outright to Triple-A Omaha.

Peguero had been designated for assignment, but he's cleared waivers and will remain in the organization. The Royals picked him up from the Mariners in January in exchange for cash.
Apr 2 - 1:40 PM

Royals designated OF Carlos Peguero for assignment.

The move clears a spot for the newly-claimed Patrick Schuster on the 40-man roster. Peguero was acquired from the Mariners in late January, but he could now be on the move once again.
Mar 25 - 2:22 PM

Carlos Peguero blasted a solo home run on Sunday, helping to lead the Royals to a 9-6 victory over the Padres in Cactus League play.

The 27-year-old outfielder finished the day 2-for-3. He's had a very nice spring, slashing .348/.483/.522 through 29 plate appearances, but is still a longshot to crack the Royals Opening Day roster.
Mar 16 - 11:18 PM

Royals acquired OF Carlos Peguero from the Mariners for cash considerations.

Peguero was designated for assignment by the Mariners earlier this month. The 26-year-old outfielder has shown some power potential in the minors, but he owns a .195/.242/.380 batting line over 219 plate appearances in the majors. He'll go into spring training out of options.
Jan 29 - 1:41 PM

Mariners designated OF Carlos Peguero for assignment.

The move clears room for the newly-signed John Buck on the 40-man roster. Peguero, who turns 27 next month, owns a .195/.242/.380 batting line over 219 plate appearances in the majors and regressed in Triple-A last year.
Jan 16 - 5:43 PM

Mariners optioned OF Carlos Peguero to Triple-A Tacoma.

He was sent down to make room for Michael Saunders' return from the disabled list. Peguero went 2-for-6 with a homer and a stolen base in his brief stint with the big club.

Mariners recalled OF Carlos Peguero from Triple-A Tacoma.

Peguero is filling in for Franklin Gutierrez, who was placed on the disabled list Tuesday with a right hamstring strain. The 26-year-old is not fantasy-relevant.

Carlos Peguero is not in the lineup for Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday night.

With Franklin Gutierrez (hamstring) expected to be placed on the disabled list, the assumption is that Peguero will replace him on the active roster. The 26-year-old owns an underwhelming .191/.236/.367 batting line over 212 plate appearances in the majors, so he can be ignored in fantasy leagues.
Tue, Apr 23, 2013 02:37:00 PM

Mariners optioned OF Carlos Peguero to Triple-A Tacoma; reassigned RHP Carson Smith and INF Nick Franklin to minor league camp.

None of them had a real shot at earning an Opening Day roster spot, though Peguero made it hard on them by batting .341 with three homers. He'll be up at some point this season.
Fri, Mar 22, 2013 08:30:00 AM

Carlos Peguero went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's win over the Rangers.

He also made a pair of excellent catches in the field. Peguero is now hitting .462 (6-for-11) with three home runs and four RBI through his first six games this spring. The Mariners' outfield will likely be too crowded for him to make the Opening Day roster, but he's at least doing his best to stay in the team's plans.

Carlos Peguero smashed a two-run double in a losing effort against the Blue Jays on Thursday night in Toronto.

He finished the night 1-for-4. He’s now hitting a highly disappointing .176/.192/.373 with two homers and seven RBI. Peguero’s downfall continues to be his inability to make consistent contact, racking up 25 strikeouts in his 52 at-bats on the year.
