Blue Jays released RHP P.J. Walters.
The 29-year-old hurler registered a 4.82 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 125/46 K/BB ratio over 142 innings across three minor league stops this season. He'll attempt to latch on elsewhere on a minor league pact. Sep 14 - 10:43 PM

Blue Jays acquired RHP P.J. Walters from the Royals for cash considerations; assigned him to Triple-A Buffalo.

Walters was struggling mightily this season at Triple-A Omaha and owns an ugly 6.28 ERA in 152 career major league innings. He's doubtful to get a shot in Toronto.

Royals reassigned RHP P.J. Walters and RHP Cory Wade to minor league camp.

Neither hurler was expected to make the Opening Day bullpen. Walters had an especially rough spring, posting a 9.45 ERA and 2.70 WHIP in his 6 2/3 frames.

P.J. Walters was hit hard in Friday's Cactus League loss to the Angels, surrendering three runs on five hits over two innings of work.

Walters also issued a pair of free passes and failed to strike out a batter. The former Twins hurler now owns an unsightly 9.45 ERA on the spring season, making it extremely unlikely that he'll get a look with the Royals any time soon.

Royals signed RHP P.J. Walters to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Walters announced the news himself on his Twitter account while Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors confirmed that it's a minor league deal. The 28-year-old had a 5.95 ERA and 1.75 WHIP over eight starts with the Twins this past season.

Twins sent RHP P.J. Walters outright to Triple-A Rochester.

Walters cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week and decided to report to Triple-A. The Twins will be happy to keep him around as starting pitching depth.

According to Tim Dierkes of MLBTradeRumors.com, Twins right-hander P.J. Walters has cleared waivers.

Walters was designated for assignment by Minnesota on July 4 after posting a 5.95 ERA and 1.75 WHIP over his first eight major league starts this season. The 28-year-old must now decide whether to accept an assignment to Triple-A Rochester or explore the free agent waters.

Twins designated RHP P.J. Walters for assignment.

It comes as no surprise. Walters has posted a 5.95 ERA and 1.75 WHIP over eight starts this season for the Twins and is no longer needed with Mike Pelfrey returning from the DL. He seems likely to clear waivers and wind up back at Triple-A Rochester.

P.J. Walters allowed three runs over five innings in a loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.

Walters held the Yankees scoreless through five innings before falling apart in the sixth, surrendering three runs without recording an out. In total he gave up four hits and three walks, striking out three. We keep wondering aloud how long Walters will be allowed to stay in the Twins' rotation and he keeps going out there every fifth day, so expect to see him Monday when the Twins take on the Rays in Tampa.

P.J. Walters was knocked around again in Friday's loss to the Royals, surrendering six runs on six hits in his three innings of work.

Walters walked one and struck out one on the night. This disaster comes on the heels of his last start, where he allowed six runs in just 1/3 of an inning in a losing effort against the Indians. While the Twins are starved for depth in the starting rotation, it would be surprising to see them let Walters make another start. He should even be avoided in deep AL-only formats.

P.J. Walters lasted just 1/3 of an inning, surrendering six runs in a loss to the Indians on Saturday.

Walters was done in by wildness on Saturday, as he walked five Indians batters and hit another. The one hit he did give up was a two-run double to Jason Kipnis. The right-hander now owns a 4.88 ERA and 1.76 WHIP this year, and it'll be interesting to see how long the Twins roll with him going forward.

P.J. Walters allowed two runs -- one earned -- in 7 1/3 innings on Tuesday but took a no-decision against the Phillies.

Walters left with the lead but reliever Brian Duensing allowed an inherited run to score, denying Walters a chance for his third win of the season. The right-hander has been a pleasant surprise for the Twins in his four starts this year, going 2-1 with a 2.49 ERA. He can still be ignored outside of AL-only leagues, though. He'll next start Sunday against the Tigers.

P.J. Walters allowed three runs -- none earned -- over six innings but took the loss against the Royals on Wednesday.

Walters had won his previous two starts before taking the loss on Wednesday, despite the fact that Wednesday's start was possibly the best of the three. The right-hander scattered seven hits and three walks over his six innings, and he now owns a 3.00 ERA in 18 innings. Assuming he stays in the rotation, his next start will come Tuesday against the Phillies.

P.J. Walters held the Tigers to two runs over seven innings Saturday in a 3-2 Twins victory.

The Twins had a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning so Walters simply pounded the strike zone, allowing eight hits but issuing only one walk against the dangerous Tigers attack. Walters had some solid numbers at Triple-A Rochester and should get some more looks in Minnesota, but he's never going to be a good fantasy option. The Twins' losing streak is over at 10 games.

P.J. Walters will start against the Tigers on Saturday.

That was the assumption already, but it's now official. Walters had a solid 3.31 ERA with 46 strikeouts over 54 1/3 innings this season with Triple-A Rochester, but he can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.
