Pedro Baez was unavailable to pitch in Wednesday's contest with the Braves after he was hit in the head in the bullpen.

Manager Dave Roberts elaborated after Wednesday's game, saying that the misguided pitch came courtesy of Adam Liberatore and plunked Baez in the back of the head. He underwent tests on Wednesday. No word at this juncture as to how long the injury might sideline the reliever.

Pedro Baez (pectoral) is throwing pain-free on flat ground.

Baez strained the pectoral muscle in mid-May, and it has proven to be a bit of a burden. He'll need to get back on the mound before the club can think about activating him. That sounds as though it could be soon, though.

Pedro Baez left a relief appearance against the Marlins on Wednesday with an undisclosed injury.

Pedro Baez got a blown save after allowing the Giants to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth inning in Thursday's loss.

All things considered, the ninth inning could have gone worse. He allowed a leadoff single to Casey McGehee, who then scored on Brandon Crawford's triple. A mere ground out or medium-deep fly ball would have allowed the Giants to walk off winners, but Baez got Gregor Blanco to strike out, Norichika Aoki to hit an infield pop-up, and Joe Panik to line out to end the inning. It was a rare save opportunity for Baez as the Dodgers used five relievers prior to the ninth inning. He shouldn't see very many more going forward barring injuries.
