Dodgers activated RHP Pedro Baez from the 10-day disabled list.
He'll return to his role in the setup corps trying to get the ball to closer Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning. Baez suffered a thumb injury early in the spring, but has looked good on a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City and the injury shouldn't be an issue going forward. Pedro Baez (thumb) is expected to join the Dodgers on Friday.

Baez has yet to make his 2017 debut due to a thumb injury sustained early in spring training. He has been turning in rehab starts at Triple-A Oklahoma City as he makes his way back from that injury. Once he has rejoined the Dodgers, he will work as a setup man to closer Kenley Jansen.
Apr 12 - 6:12 PM

Pedro Baez (thumb) is expected to make another rehab appearance before being activated from the disabled list.

Baez allowed two runs over two-thirds of an inning at Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, and evidently the Dodgers want him to sharpen up a little more before he rejoins their bullpen. He'll work in a setup role once activated.
Apr 9 - 1:12 PM

Pedro Baez (thumb) is expected to make another appearance for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday.

Baez pitched an inning Friday against Iowa and will do the same on Saturday. He's expected to join the team in Chicago for their upcoming series against the Cubs. Baez has spent the past month recovering from a thumb injury he suffered early in spring training.
Apr 8 - 7:01 PM

Pedro Baez (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.

It sounds like he will probably need just the one appearance before rejoining the Dodgers' bullpen. Baez didn't make any Cactus League appearances after being hit on the right thumb by a comebacker in late February, but he's been throwing off a mound for a few weeks.
Apr 7 - 12:49 PM

The Dodgers are hopeful that Pedro Baez (thumb) will be able to return from the disabled list next week.

Baez took a comebacker off his hand early on in spring training and is just getting caught up now. The plan calls for him to go on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City before rejoining the Dodgers' bullpen.
Apr 3 - 1:07 PM

Dodgers placed RHP Pedro Baez on the 10-day disabled list with a right thumb injury.

He's been dealing with it for a while, although he did pitch in a game Saturday. Baez should return when eligible.
Apr 2 - 1:01 PM

Pedro Baez (thumb) pitched in a Triple-A game on Saturday.

Baez bruised his thumb about a month ago but has progressed nicely in recent days and could be ready to join the team as soon as he's eligible in 10 days. When healthy, he'll occupy a setup role ahead of ace closer Kenley Jansen.
Apr 1 - 7:55 PM

Pedro Baez (thumb) will face hitters on Monday.

It will be a nice step, but Baez still hasn't pitched in a game this spring due to a nagging right thumb injury. He's probably going to begin the season on the disabled list.
Mar 26 - 1:51 PM

Pedro Baez (thumb) threw a successful bullpen session on Sunday.

It's the first bullpen session for the right-hander since suffering a bruised thumb last month. Expect him to repeat the process in the next few days before being cleared to face live hitters. He's still expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Mar 19 - 8:07 PM

Pedro Baez (thumb) will throw a bullpen session on Sunday.

It will be his first pen session since bruising his thumb last month. He'll be cutting it close but if Baez can avoid setbacks, he might be ready for Opening Day. The right-hander logged a respectable 3.04 ERA over 73 outings last season.
Mar 18 - 1:53 PM

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Pedro Baez (thumb) is getting closer to mound work.

Baez has yet to make his debut this spring due to a thumb injury which dates back to when he was hit in the hand by a comebacker last month. Assuming he can get back on the mound soon, he might still have enough time to get ready for Opening Day.
Mar 14 - 1:02 PM

Pedro Baez (thumb) will resume throwing Friday.

Baez had to undergo further testing of his nagging right thumb injury, but apparently nothing serious came up. He should be cleared to return to games before long assuming he doesn't have another setback.
Mar 10 - 6:05 PM

Pedro Baez will undergo further testing on his nagging right thumb injury.

Baez was hit on the thumb by a comebacker nearly two weeks ago and is still feeling discomfort. An initial exam showed no structural damage, but the Dodgers will send him for additional testing to see if they can figure out what's going on. In the meantime, the reliever is shut down.
Mar 5 - 3:17 PM

Pedro Baez (thumb) is scheduled to resume throwing on Thursday.

He'll start out with a light game of catch before getting back atop a mound this weekend. Baez was struck in the thumb by a hard comebacker last week during a round of live batting practice, but X-rays showed no structural damage. The setup man is on track for the opening of the 2017 regular season.
