John Lannan (quad) is scheduled to face hitters next Wednesday.
It will be the first time he's done so since going on the disabled list. Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro said Lannan "is doing very well. He feels good." The left-hander could rejoin the rotation in a few weeks if all goes well. May 22 - 8:05 PM

John Lannan (quad) threw a bullpen session on Saturday afternoon in Clearwater, Florida.

Lannan will throw off a mound again on Monday and should then progress to simulated games. If all goes well, he will join the Phillies at some point in early June. He's been on the disabled list since April 18 with a quad strain.
May 18 - 4:29 PM

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Thursday that John Lannan (quadriceps) could miss 6-8 weeks.

Lannan was placed on the disabled list Thursday with a strained left quadriceps muscle. Manuel said it's possible that the southpaw could return sooner, but it sounds like he's looking at a lengthy absence. No word yet on who will replace him in the rotation, but Tyler Cloyd is the most logical option.
Apr 18 - 4:13 PM

Phillies placed LHP John Lannan on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps muscle.

Lannan suffered the injury Wednesday while allowing six runs over just 1 2/3 innings against the Reds. He has a 6.14 ERA and 7/2 K/BB ratio in 14 2/3 total frames this season. It's not clear how long he will be out.
Apr 18 - 2:19 PM

John Lannan will have his left knee examined on Thursday by the Phillies' team doctor.

Lannan admitted that the knee bothered him during Wednesday's start, which might at least partly explain why he lasted just 1 2/3 innings while giving up six runs on eight hits and a walk. The left-hander doesn't think the ailment is a big deal, so he should be able to start Monday against the Pirates. If he has to miss some time, Tyler Cloyd would be an option to fill in.
Apr 17 - 10:15 PM

John Lannan allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings as the Phillies lost to the Reds on Wednesday.

After two good starts to begin the season, Lannan was rocked Wednesday, allowing eight hits and six runs before he could get out of the second inning. He doesn't get a lot of strikeouts and pitchers don't usually just magically get better at their jobs, so it was only a matter of time before he came down to earth. He'll get the Pirates on Monday.
Apr 17 - 10:13 PM

John Lannan pitched well again in a no-decision against the Marlins on Friday, surrendering just one run on three hits over his six innings of work.

Lannan struck out two in the game while issuing one free pass. He’s looked very solid through his first two starts as a Phillie, posting a 2.77 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 7/1 K/BB ratio in 13 innings. While he’ll never be a high-strikeout performer, he’s worth a serious look as a streaming option in deeper mixed leagues.
Apr 12 - 11:31 PM

John Lannan allowed three runs in seven innings and took a no-decision in the Phillies' win over the Royals on Saturday.

Lannan was better than the line suggests, as he didn't give up a hit until a Jeff Francoeur double in the fifth inning. In total, he allowed five hits and no walks while striking out five. Lannan has another potentially attractive start coming up Friday against the Marlins, but even so, he's only usable in NL-only leagues at this point.
Apr 6 - 10:00 PM

John Lannan was left in to give up 12 runs in four innings Monday against the Blue Jays.

The Jays took advantage of a stiff breeze blowing out to center to collect two homers, a triple and three doubles off Lannan. The left-hander entered the day with a 3.21 ERA in four spring starts.
Mar 25 - 4:12 PM

John Lannan blanked the Rays for five innings Friday to lower his spring ERA to 3.21.

Lannan for $2.5 million should prove to be a nice little bargain for the Phillies. Not that he's likely to be more than a generic fourth- or fifth-starter type, but pitchers as reliable as he is still tend to go for quite a bit more.
Mar 15 - 4:19 PM

John Lannan pitched three scoreless innings versus the Pirates in his start Monday.

Travis Snider doubled off Lannan in the first, and it turned out to be the Pirates' only hit of the day. After Lannan exited, Mike Adams, Adam Morgan and Raul Valdes combined on six hitless innings.
Mar 4 - 4:33 PM

Phillies signed LHP John Lannan to a one-year, $2.5 million contract.

Lannan was non-tendered by the Nationals last month and spent most of this past season in the minors, but is a decent bounce-back candidate on a one-year deal. He'll open 2013 in the spot vacated by Vance Worley in the Phillies' rotation.

Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com reports the Phillies have signed John Lannan to a one-year, $2.5 million contract, pending a physical.

Financial details were reported by Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Lannan, who was non-tendered by the Nationals last month, can earn an additional $2.5 million through performance-based incentives. He'll open 2013 as the top candidate to replace the spot vacated by Vance Worley in the Phillies' rotation.

The Washington Times' Amanda Comack hears that John Lannan has drawn interest from 11 teams.

Comack adds that all clubs are willing to give the left-hander a major league deal. Lannan spent most of 2012 in the minors, but he holds a career 4.01 ERA over parts of six seasons and wouldn't be a bad guy to fill out the end of a rotation. The Mets and Twins have previously been linked to the southpaw.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mets have shown interest in free agent left-hander John Lannan.

The Mets could be looking at Lannan as an insurance policy if R.A. Dickey is traded. The Long Island native owns a 4.01 ERA over six seasons in the big leagues and could be a nice fit as a backend starter with many clubs.
