Matt Joyce is not in Monday's lineup against the Blue Jays.

The Jays are sending lefty Mark Buehrle to the hill, and Joyce is batting a comical .067/.067/.067 against southpaws this season, albeit in just 15 plate appearances. Hitting .243/.329/.514 overall, Joyce is a tough sell in shallower mixed leagues.
May 6 - 4:21 PM

Matt Joyce went 2-for-4 with a home run in the Rays' loss to the Royals on Tuesday.

The two-run homer was Joyce's fifth of the year, though he has just eight RBI. Joyce has always possessed pop, but his platoon splits have kept him from being a worthwhile fantasy option. He's batting just .225 with a .286 OBP and is best left for AL-only leagues.
May 1 - 1:02 AM

Matt Joyce launched his second home run of the season in the Rays' win over the A's on Saturday.

Joyce hit a solo shot off Oakland starter Jarrod Parker in the bottom of the second inning. It was the only run scored by either side in the game. Joyce is batting just .204/.235/.347 in 15 games but is capable of much better and should begin righting the ship soon.
Apr 20 - 10:03 PM

Matt Joyce said he experienced "a little whiplash" after attempting to dive for a fly ball on Tuesday.

Joyce is dealing with some soreness as a result, but believes he could play Wednesday. However, he's not in the starting lineup with left-hander Derek Holland on the hill. Sean Rodriguez is starting in left field.
Apr 10 - 12:15 PM

Matt Joyce hit a walk-off solo home run Wednesday to give the Rays an 8-7 win over the Orioles.

It was a good time for Joyce's first home run of the season. The 28-year-old has great raw power and should carry value in deep mixed fantasy leagues this summer if he's able to stay healthy. He has averaged 22 home runs per 162 games in his six-year major league career.
Apr 3 - 10:25 PM

Rays avoided arbitration with OF Matt Joyce by agreeing to a one-year, $2.45 million contract.

It's a nice bump in salary for the first-time arbitration-eligible player. Joyce put up a disappointing .241/.341/.429 batting line with 17 homers in 2012 but will return as the regular right fielder against right-handed pitching in 2013.
Jan 18 - 1:22 PM

Matt Joyce slugged a pair of homers and drove in four runs on Saturday, powering the Rays to a 10-4 victory over the White Sox.

Joyce finished 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored. He entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Ben Francisco in the fifth inning, drawing a walk. His first bomb came as a solo shot off Dylan Axelrod in the seventh inning, and he added a three-run shot off Leyson Septimo in the eighth. Joyce is now hitting .244/.345/.435 with 17 homers and 59 RBI on the year.

Matt Joyce went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in a win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Joyce had a two-run double in a four-run third inning and later added a solo home run for some insurance in the eighth. It proved to be very valuable, as the Rays ended up winning by just one run. The home run was Joyce's 15th of the season and his first since August 11. This was his first multi-hit game since August 10.

Matt Joyce (forearm) is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Rangers.

Joyce left Tuesday's game with a left forearm strain and is considered day-to-day. He would have sat out Wednesday anyway with left-hander Matt Harrison on the hill for Texas. Sam Fuld will make the start in right field.

Matt Joyce singled home Sam Fuld in the sixth inning Sunday, providing the difference in Tampa's 2-0 win over the Angels.

The knock was Joyce's only hit in four trips to the plate. Joyce has only one multi-hit effort and two RBI in 11 games since coming off the disabled list on July 17. For the season, he's hitting .270/.372/.473.

Matt Joyce went 2-for-4 with a double and the Rays' lone RBI in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Mariners.

Joyce singled home Ben Zobrist in the first. Joyce is just 5-for-19 (.263) since coming off the disabled list, but has proven he's more-or-less healthy. He'll be a safe play in weekly leagues this week.
