Matt Joyce posted a double, solo home run, two runs scored and four RBI across five at-bats in Tuesday's victory against Kansas City.
Joyce has really come alive over the past few weeks, going 14-for-43 (.326) with six doubles, four homers and 11 RBI. He has raised his average from .221 to .234 just since July 29. The veteran isn't normally a reliable mixed-league option, but lately he has been a solid play and a nice DFS value, too. Aug 16 - 2:03 AM

Matt Joyce went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Orioles.

Joyce piled on with the Orioles already down 6-2 in the seventh, crushing a two-run home run to put the game even further out of reach. The veteran slugger is hitting .231/.337/.449 with 16 homers and 46 RBI this season. He has gone yard in three of his last eight games.

Matt Joyce went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Wednesday's loss to the Mariners.

Joyce cranked a solo shot off Yovani Gallardo in the bottom of the first inning, his 15th homer of the season. For the campaign as a whole, the veteran outfielder is slashing .228/.334/.426 over the course of 329 at-bats.
Aug 9 - 6:44 PM

Matt Joyce has been suspended two games by Major League Baseball for using a homophobic slur toward a fan on Friday night.

Joyce got into an argument with a fan sitting above the visitors dugout at Angel Stadium. He acknowledged using the word and apologized publicly on Twitter. The veteran outfielder will sit out the Athletics' final two games in Anaheim.
Aug 5 - 5:08 PM

Matt Joyce posted a double, two-run home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 10-4 loss against the Giants.

Joyce accounted for nearly all of the offense, as the meat of the order (batters three through six) were 1-for-15 with an RBI single from Yonder Alonso. The left-handed hitting veteran has back-to-back multi-hit games, and he has lifted his average from .218 to .229 since July 15. He still has a while to go before he can be trusted outside of deeper AL fantasy formats, however.
Aug 2 - 2:36 AM

Matt Joyce had two hits, two walks and three runs scored from the leadoff spot Monday against the Giants.

It's the first time this year that he's scored three runs in a game. Joyce has offered the A's league-average offense and subpar defense in the first season of a two-year deal. He might have been a candidate to be dealt before the deadline if not for the second year on his contract, paying him $6 million in 2018. He's not a disaster at that price; he's just yet another A's player who fails to move the needle.
Aug 1 - 1:45 AM

Matt Joyce reached base three times and scored the Athletics' lone run Tuesday in Toronto.

Joyce singled to lead off the game and had one of the A's three doubles on the night, scoring after the two-bagger. The A's top four hitters had all six of their hits in this one, as their 5-9 batters took an O-fer.
Jul 25 - 10:23 PM

Matt Joyce went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a sacrifice fly in Wednesday's win over the Rays.

Joyce lofted a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning before cracking a solo home run in the eighth inning to cap off the A's 7-2 victory. For the season as a whole, the veteran outfielder is hitting .223/.331/.414 with 12 homers and 38 RBI.
Jul 19 - 8:02 PM

Matt Joyce belted his 10th home run of the season as the Athletics rallied to beat the White Sox on Sunday.

Joyce entered the game as a pinch runner late in the game and made the most of his lone at-bat, crushing a Chris Beck offering over the wall to extend the A's lead to 5-2 in the ninth. Joyce is now slashing .231/.335/.433 with 10 homers and 31 RBI on the year.
Jun 25 - 5:56 PM

Matt Joyce socked a solo homer against the White Sox on Friday.

It was his only hit in five at-bats on the night. Joyce was a major disappointment through the first two months of the season, but he’s hitting .306 (19-for-62) with four homers and 10 RBI through 19 games this month.
Jun 23 - 11:54 PM

Matt Joyce (back) went 0-for-4 in his return to the A's lineup Wednesday against the Astros.

Joyce was held out of action Tuesday due to a minor back injury, but he played all nine innings of Wednesday's loss to Houston. The veteran outfielder is slashing .227/.329/.407 with eight home runs and 28 RBI in 62 games this season for Oakland.
Jun 22 - 8:03 AM

Matt Joyce is out of the Athletics' starting lineup Tuesday due to a minor back injury.

A's manager Bob Melvin said he's hopeful it's just a day-to-day thing. Chad Pinder is starting in right field and batting second Tuesday night against the Astros.
Jun 20 - 7:42 PM

Matt Joyce went 3-for-3 with a solo home run and a pair of walks in Saturday's win over the Yankees.

He reached base in all five of his trips to the plate. He went deep off starter Masahiro Tanaka leading off the bottom of the first inning. The hot game gives a nice boost to what has been a disappointing season for the platoon outfielder. He is batting .224/.329/.404 with eight homers and 28 RBI in 216 plate appearances.
Jun 17 - 8:06 PM

Matt Joyce (chin) went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored Thursday night against the Yankees.

Joyce did not start the game, but he pinch-hit for Adam Rosales in the bottom of the seventh and took over in right field in the top of the eighth. He drove in a run with a groundout to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth and struck out before Khris Davis' walkoff two-run single in the bottom of the 10th. The veteran outfielder was removed from Wednesday's series finale against the Marlins after suffering a laceration under his chin. It required three stitches, but Joyce is good to go moving forward.
Jun 16 - 6:09 AM

Matt Joyce's laceration under his chin suffered in Wednesday's game against the Marlins required three stitches.

"I'm ready to play tomorrow if they ask," said a game Joyce. He suffered the chin laceration after colliding with Yonder Alonso while trying to bring in a high pop-up in the second inning of Wednesday's game. It sounds like this injury will not keep him out for long barring concussion symptoms.
