Matt Joyce went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in a win over the Orioles on Sunday.
Joyce led off the fourth inning with a double, scoring the first of two runs the A's would push across in the frame. Somewhat miraculously, the multi-hit game was his first since April 1. The miraculous part may be that the A's have continued running him out there -- even batting him near the top of their lineup, no less -- despite his struggles. Joyce is hitting .198/.346/.349 in 31 games. May 6 - 7:21 PM

Matt Joyce hit his second home run of the season in Sunday's loss to the Angels.

Plenty of A's hitters swung and missed Shohei Ohtani pitches on the afternoon, but Joyce did not miss Felix Pena's ninth-inning offering, depositing it well into the right field seats to keep the A's from being shut out. The homer was the second of the year and of the series for Joyce. He's hitting .235/.372/.471 through 11 games.
Apr 8 - 7:56 PM

Matt Joyce homered and walked from the leadoff spot against the Angels on Friday.

It was Joyce's first appearance in the leadoff spot in six days; he hit second once and fifth twice in his previous three starts. Joyce has been limited by elbow soreness this spring and a bruised leg more recently, but he seems to be feeling better now; the injuries were partly to blame for him hitting lower in the order.
Apr 7 - 1:48 AM

Matt Joyce was removed from Sunday's Cactus League contest after fouling a ball off of his leg.

Joyce continued his at-bat, and nearly homered, then played another inning in the field, so his exit is likely precautionary. Consider him day-to-day.
Mar 25 - 5:37 PM

Matt Joyce clobbered a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, as the Athletics routed the White Sox 14-0 on Sunday.

Joyce got the A's on the board in a hurry in this one, leading off with a solo shot off of White Sox' starter James Shields. He then broke the game open with a grand slam off of top prospect Michael Kopech in the fourth inning. The long balls were the first two homers for Joyce who is having a rough spring, hitting just .179.
Mar 18 - 10:16 PM

The Athletics plan to have Matt Joyce DH while battling a sore elbow.

Joyce hasn't played the field since March 1 due to the elbow issue, but was able to get some Cactus League at-bats in on Sunday. He's still expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Mar 11 - 9:56 PM

Matt Joyce hasn't played the outfield in six days because of right elbow soreness.

He's not expected to return to outfield duty for another week, but the A's aren't overly concerned and expect him to be ready for Opening Day. Joyce is slated to serve on the long side of a platoon in left field this season.
Mar 11 - 1:41 PM

Matt Joyce finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Saturday's loss in Texas.

Joyce is finishing up strong in the final week, going 7-for-18 (.389) with three doubles, a home run and two RBI over his past six games to raise his average six points to .243. The left-handed hitting veteran is likely to land a platoon situation with a club again in 2018.

Matt Joyce doubled three times on Wednesday in a victory over the Mariners.

THe three doubles gives him 33 on the season, and all three were off ineffective Mariner starter Erasmo Ramirez. Joyce hasn't had much luck with the batting average (.242), but he has slugged .471, and his .335 on-base percentage illustrates that the approach hasn't gone away. He'll likely be a platoon hitter for someone again in 2018.

Matt Joyce belted his 24th home run of the season as the Athletics topped the Phillies on Friday night in Oakland.

Joyce clobbered his two-run shot off of Mark Leiter Jr. in the second inning, increasing the A's advantage to 4-0. The 33-year-old has already set new career-highs in home runs and runs scored, and could top the 75 RBI that he had with the Rays in 2011 before all is said and done. He finished the night 1-for-5 and is slashing .241/.339/.479 with 24 homers and 65 RBI.

Matt Joyce posted a solo home run with a walk and two RBI across four at-bats in Tuesday's game against the Angels.

Joyce has bounced around with five different organizations through his first 10 seasons in the majors, reaching double-digits in homers just six times previous to 2017. He is on a different plane this season, cracking a career-best 21 clouts with 60 RBI through 404 at-bats.

33-year-old Matt Joyce is making his first start in center field since 2009 in Saturday's game against the Mariners.

Joyce is a bad corner outfielder, and it says a lot about the A's organization as a whole that the team is playing him in center on Sept. 2, with anyone in the minors eligible to join the roster and help out. Ideally, Joyce would be DHing rather regularly right now.

Matt Joyce blasted his 20th home run as the Athletics fell to the Angels on Tuesday.

Joyce got the A's on the board when he took Troy Scribner deep for a solo shot in the second inning. He also drew a walk in the contest, finishing the night 1-for-3. The 20 home runs are a new career best for Joyce who is slashing .233/.333/.455 with 56 RBI on the season.

Matt Joyce went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run and three total RBI in Wednesday's 12-inning loss to the Orioles.

Joyce connected for a two-run home run in the eighth inning. His third RBI on the afternoon proved even more pivotal, as his sacrifice fly off Zach Britton in the ninth inning tied up the game at 7-7. For the season as a whole, the veteran outfielder is slashing .232/.332/.454 with 19 homers and 54 RBI in 111 games.

Matt Joyce posted a double, solo home run, two runs scored and four RBI across five at-bats in Tuesday's victory against Kansas City.

Joyce has really come alive over the past few weeks, going 14-for-43 (.326) with six doubles, four homers and 11 RBI. He has raised his average from .221 to .234 just since July 29. The veteran isn't normally a reliable mixed-league option, but lately he has been a solid play and a nice DFS value, too.
