Indians and RHP Zach McAllister avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.825 million contract.

He earned the raise after holding a 3.19 ERA while striking out over a batter per inning the last two seasons for the Indians while being used almost exclusively in relief. McAllister was arbitration-eligible for the second time.

Zach McAllister surrendered an RBI triple to Ben Zobrist in the fifth inning of Wednesday's loss to the Cubs in Game 2 of the World Series.

McAllister came on for Trevor Bauer with two outs in the fourth inning and proceeded to strike out Dexter Fowler to close out that frame. He would open the fifth with a strikeout of Kris Bryant, but after allowing walking Anthony Rizzo following a 10-pitch battle, he proceeded to allow an RBI triple to Zobrist. At which point, McAllister was relieved of duty. Zobrist would score on an RBI single by Kyle Schwarber after the 28-year-old right-hander exited stage left. McAllister has made two appearances this postseason, allowing three runs over 1 1/3 frames.

Zach McAllister tossed two scoreless innings in a rainy start versus the Tigers on Wednesday.

He gave up one hit, walked one and struck out one in the brief outing. The game was interrupted by rain multiple times and ended up being called after five frames. The Indians' starting rotation has been wracked by injuries of late, so McAllister was called upon to fill in a day after the Tribe clinched their division. He has been effective out of the bullpen this year. He has a 3.44 ERA with 54 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings.

Indians activated RHP Zach McAllister from the 15-day disabled list.

He missed the last three weeks with a hip injury. McAllister will return to a setup role.

Zach McAllister (hip) is scheduled to make one more minor league rehab appearance.

McAllister has allowed one run in three innings between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. The righty was placed on the disabled list July 7 with a hip injury.

Zach McAllister (hip) will begin a rehab assignment on Monday.

A sore right hip sent him to the disabled list prior to the All-Star break. McAllister will only need a couple outings to shake off the rust. He should return when first eligible on July 21.

Indians placed RHP Zach McAllister on the 15-day disabled list with a hip injury.

The severity of the injury is unknown. McAllister got off to a nice start this season, but he had surrendered seven earned runs over 2 1/3 innings in July. This could be more about getting the righty reliever a breather coinciding with the All-Star break.

Zach McAllister was pressed into emergency duty on Saturday after the Indians burned Trevor Bauer in relief on Friday, and he didn't fare well, allowing three runs on one hit and a pair of walks in only one inning of work.

McAllister struck out two batters in the inning. He surrendered a pair of walks then was tagged for a gargantuan three-run homer off the bat of Edwin Encarnacion. He'll head back to the bullpen now where he'll continue to function in middle relief for the Tribe.

Zach McAllister will start for the Indians on Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Saturday's originally scheduled starter, Trevor Bauer, was forced into relief action during Friday's game, so it's McAllister who will toe the slab as the Tribe attempts to run its winning streak to 15 games. The 28-year-old owns a 3.20 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 26/12 K/BB ratio in 25 1/3 innings out of the bullpen in 2016.

Zach McAllister (flu) is scheduled to pitch Wednesday.

McAllister had been limited to just one appearance this spring due to the flu, but he's feeling much better now. The 28-year-old shouldn't need many outings to get ready for the season, where he figures to operate as a potential set-up man.

Indians manager Terry Francona said Saturday that Zach McAllister would be stretched out this spring as insurance for the starting rotation.

It's still likely that he'll wind up in the bullpen, where he flourished during the 2015 campaign, but it makes sense to keep him stretched out should injury strike in the rotation during the spring.

Indians and RHP Zach McAllister avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.3 million contract.

McAllister transitioned to the bullpen early on in the 2015 season, finishing the year with a 3.00 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 84/23 K/BB ratio across 69 innings. He earns a nice raise over the $520,400 that he took home in 2015.

Indians manager Terry Francona confirmed Friday that Zach McAllister will remain in the Indians' bullpen.

Danny Salazar will start Saturday in his stead and remain in the rotation. Francona believes that McAllister can be a weapon out of the bullpen with his ability to work multiple innings, though his fantasy value takes a massive hit with the move. He can safely be dropped in mixed leagues.

Zach McAllister pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief Tuesday, allowing four hits and one run against the White Sox.

McAllister was pressed into duty after Indians starter Carlos Carrasco took a scary line drive off his face two batters into the game. McAllister allowed two inherited runs to score in the tough spot, and he gave up one of his own in the fourth before being removed. It messes with his pitching schedule, so it's unclear when -- or in what role -- we'll see McAllister next.
