Zach McAllister (hip) is scheduled to make one more minor league rehab appearance.

McAllister has allowed one run in three innings between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. The righty was placed on the disabled list July 7 with a hip injury.

Zach McAllister (hip) will begin a rehab assignment on Monday.

A sore right hip sent him to the disabled list prior to the All-Star break. McAllister will only need a couple outings to shake off the rust. He should return when first eligible on July 21.
Jul 16 - 5:37 PM

Indians placed RHP Zach McAllister on the 15-day disabled list with a hip injury.

The severity of the injury is unknown. McAllister got off to a nice start this season, but he had surrendered seven earned runs over 2 1/3 innings in July. This could be more about getting the righty reliever a breather coinciding with the All-Star break.
Jul 7 - 3:16 PM

Zach McAllister was pressed into emergency duty on Saturday after the Indians burned Trevor Bauer in relief on Friday, and he didn't fare well, allowing three runs on one hit and a pair of walks in only one inning of work.

McAllister struck out two batters in the inning. He surrendered a pair of walks then was tagged for a gargantuan three-run homer off the bat of Edwin Encarnacion. He'll head back to the bullpen now where he'll continue to function in middle relief for the Tribe.
Jul 2 - 4:29 PM

Zach McAllister will start for the Indians on Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Saturday's originally scheduled starter, Trevor Bauer, was forced into relief action during Friday's game, so it's McAllister who will toe the slab as the Tribe attempts to run its winning streak to 15 games. The 28-year-old owns a 3.20 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 26/12 K/BB ratio in 25 1/3 innings out of the bullpen in 2016.

Zach McAllister (flu) is scheduled to pitch Wednesday.

McAllister had been limited to just one appearance this spring due to the flu, but he's feeling much better now. The 28-year-old shouldn't need many outings to get ready for the season, where he figures to operate as a potential set-up man.
Mar 16 - 11:42 AM

Indians manager Terry Francona said Saturday that Zach McAllister would be stretched out this spring as insurance for the starting rotation.

It's still likely that he'll wind up in the bullpen, where he flourished during the 2015 campaign, but it makes sense to keep him stretched out should injury strike in the rotation during the spring.
Feb 20 - 2:48 PM

Indians and RHP Zach McAllister avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.3 million contract.

McAllister transitioned to the bullpen early on in the 2015 season, finishing the year with a 3.00 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 84/23 K/BB ratio across 69 innings. He earns a nice raise over the $520,400 that he took home in 2015.
Jan 8 - 7:01 PM

Indians manager Terry Francona confirmed Friday that Zach McAllister will remain in the Indians' bullpen.

Danny Salazar will start Saturday in his stead and remain in the rotation. Francona believes that McAllister can be a weapon out of the bullpen with his ability to work multiple innings, though his fantasy value takes a massive hit with the move. He can safely be dropped in mixed leagues.

Zach McAllister pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief Tuesday, allowing four hits and one run against the White Sox.

McAllister was pressed into duty after Indians starter Carlos Carrasco took a scary line drive off his face two batters into the game. McAllister allowed two inherited runs to score in the tough spot, and he gave up one of his own in the fourth before being removed. It messes with his pitching schedule, so it's unclear when -- or in what role -- we'll see McAllister next.

Zach McAllister was knocked around in Friday's loss to the Tigers, giving up five runs on 13 hits over his four-plus innings.

On the positive side he managed to record five strikeouts while walking just one, but he clearly didn't have the Tigers hitters fooled at all in this one. A two-run blast by Nick Castellanos in the fifth inning was the nail in the coffin that finally chased him from the game. He'll attempt to put this one behind him when he does battle against the Twins in Minnesota on Friday.

Zach McAllister yielded two runs (one earned) over 6 1/3 innings as the Indians defeated the Reds 4-3 on Thursday.

The Reds racked up nine hits but couldn't do much with them against McAllister. He also walked none and struck out four, lowering his Cactus League ERA to 2.84 in the process. Now in the No. 4 spot in the Indians rotation, McAllister will be looking to improve on last season's 5.23 ERA in 86 innings.

Zach McAllister has been named the Indians' No. 4 starter.

McAllister essentially had a spot in the rotation wrapped up Friday when Danny Salazar was optioned and then went out Saturday and struck out nine over five frames. We would've liked to have seen Salazar get a shot, but McAllister is a perfectly capable back-end starter with a career 3.93 FIP and 299/122 K/BB ratio over 363 1/3 innings.

Zach McAllister struck out nine Brewers batters over five innings, allowing two runs Saturday.

McAllister allowed six hits and didn't walk a batter, posting an impressive 9/0 K/BB ratio in the game. With Danny Salazar in Triple-A, McAllister has a good shot at winning a rotation spot with the Indians. Saturday's effort certainly helps that cause.
