The Indians are expected to recall Zach McAllister from Triple-A Columbus to start on Saturday versus the Royals.
McAllister was sent down before the All-Star break before returning last weekend to start during a doubleheader. He pitched well in that outing and has been great at Columbus of late but will have to keep it up in order to keep a rotation spot over Danny Salazar once Justin Masterson (knee) returns. Salazar will start on Sunday. Jul 23 - 11:59 AM

Jul 19 - 11:26 PM

Zach McAllister delivered 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball Saturday as the Indians took the second half of a doubleheader against the Tigers.

Cleveland also won the first game. It was a nice showing from McAllister, who was called up from Triple-A Columbus to serve as the Indians' 26th man. It's not clear how he factors into the rotation mix going forward.
Jul 19 - 10:50 PM

Zach McAllister is expected to be recalled to start during Saturday's doubleheader versus the Tigers.

McAllister was just sent down Tuesday, but he's eligible to come back up as the Tribe's 26th man Saturday. The Indians will still have to call someone up to serve as their No. 5 starter next week. Danny Santana is an option.
Jul 17 - 6:37 PM

Indians optioned RHP Zach McAllister to Triple-A Columbus.

McAllister owns a rough 5.63 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 45/21 K/BB ratio in 54 1/3 innings (11 starts) this season for the Indians. The 26-year-old right-hander could get another shot at some point in the second half of 2014, but he is doubtful to hold fantasy relevance.
Jul 15 - 4:48 PM

Indians recalled Zach McAllister from Triple-A Columbus.

He will return to the Indians rotation on Saturday against the White Sox, taking the place of the injured Justin Masterson. He owns a 5.89 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 43/19 K/BB ratio over 47 1/3 innings with the Tribe this season.
Jul 12 - 11:07 AM

Zach McAllister will start for the Indians on Saturday afternoon against the White Sox.

McAllister was optioned to the Triple-A level on June 20 with a 5.89 ERA in 47 1/3 innings. The 26-year-old righty is not a good fantasy streamer versus Chicago.
Jul 9 - 4:28 PM

Indians optioned RHP Zach McAllister to Triple-A Columbus.

The Indians don't need a fifth starter for a while, so they'll keep McAllister stretched out at Triple-A while adding another arm to the bullpen in Vinnie Pestano. McAllister will be back before long.
Jun 20 - 1:51 PM

Indians activated RHP Zach McAllister from the 15-day disabled list.

McAllister will start on Thursday against the Angels, taking T.J. House's spot in the rotation. The right-hander posted a 5.89 over 10 starts before going on the disabled list a month ago with a back injury.
Jun 18 - 3:18 PM

Zach McAllister (back) will make another rehab start for Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.

McAllister allowed just two runs over six innings in what was supposed to be his final rehab outing Tuesday, but the Indians have decided to give him another one. He'll be pitching on three days' rest Saturday and is expected to throw 65 pitches. The club isn't saying whether McAllister will replace T.J. House in the rotation next week or if House will retain his spot.
Jun 12 - 6:27 PM

Zach McAllister (back) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

If the outing goes well, he'll rejoin the Indians' rotation next weekend. McAllister was touched up for three runs on nine hits and a walk over 4 1/3 frames at Low-A Lake County in his first rehab start, but the most important thing is that he feels healthy. T.J. House will be booted from the rotation when McAllister is ready.
Jun 8 - 1:58 PM

Zach McAllister (back) will begin a rehab assignment on Wednesday at Low-A Lake County.

McAllister was cleared to begin the rehab assignment after getting through a bullpen session Sunday with no issues. He should only need 1-2 rehab outings before rejoining the Tribe's rotation.
Jun 1 - 11:46 AM

Zach McAllister (back) will be cleared to begin a rehab assignment if he gets through a bullpen session Sunday with no issues.

McAllister threw a 60-pitch simulated game Friday with no apparent problems, so he's well on his way to rejoining the Indians' rotation. It will mean a demotion for T.J. House once McAllister is ready.
May 30 - 4:35 PM

Zach McAllister (back) will face hitters on Friday.

It will come after McAllister got through a 50-pitch bullpen session Monday with no issues. It's undecided whether Friday's session will be a simulated game or live batting practice, but it will be a nice step regardless. McAllister would seem to have a good shot to return around the time he's first eligible on June 6.
May 28 - 10:23 AM

Indians placed RHP Zach McAllister on the 15-day disabled list with lower back soreness.

McAllister was hammered for five runs -- four earned -- over just two innings Wednesday afternoon against the Tigers, watching his season ERA balloon to 5.89. There is no timetable for his return to the rotation.
