Zach McAllister permitted three runs on five hits and three walks over five frames in Thursday's 12-3 drubbing of the Red Sox.
McAllister was hardly sharp, but in a game where Cleveland had 12 runs before he was pulled, he didn't really have to be. The 25-year-old right-hander saw his streak of four straight starts allowing two runs or fewer snapped, but improved to 4-3 nonetheless. McAllister holds a 2.89 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 39/17 K/BB rate over nine starts. May 23 - 11:48 PM

Zach McAllister turned in another strong outing Saturday, allowing two runs over 7 1/3 innings in a no-decision.

McAllister held the Mariners off the board until Brendan Ryan took him deep in the top of the eighth. The 25-year-old right-hander only notched one strikeout, but was very efficient, allowing six hits and walking just one batter. Unfortunately, Chris Perez cost him a chance at the victory. McAllister has allowed two runs or fewer in four straight starts and now has a 2.65 ERA on the year. It might be time to take him seriously in mixed leagues.
May 18 - 4:29 PM

Zach McAllister permitted three runs -- two earned -- on eight hits and three walks over six frames in Sunday's 4-3 extra innings win over the Tigers.

It wasn't McAllister's best effort, as he allowed a lot of baserunners, but he was able to limit the damage for the most part and kept his team close enough so that they could eventually come back to win. The big right-hander still hasn't surrendered more than three earned runs in a start this season. He'll get the Mariners next.
May 12 - 5:35 PM

Zach McAllister continued his strong start to the season Tuesday, spinning 7 2/3 scoreless frames in a 1-0 win over the Athletics.

McAllister yielded just five base hits (all singles), walked one and struck out four. The big right-hander was cruising all night, as the A's didn't reach second base against him a single time. He was removed only because his pitch count had escalated to 111. McAllister hasn't given up more than three runs in any start this season and now boasts a 2.63 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. He'll pitch in Detroit on Sunday.
May 7 - 9:56 PM

Zach McAllister allowed two runs in seven innings in a win over the Phillies on Tuesday.

McAllister allowed just two solo home runs on the evening. The Indians' pitching staff is mostly a wasteland, but the 25-year-old now owns a 3.30 ERA and 1.20 WHIP on the season. He's worth an add in deep mixed leagues. His next matchup, Sunday against the Twins, looks favorable as well.
Apr 30 - 10:15 PM

Zach McAllister allowed three runs in five innings Thursday in a loss to the Red Sox.

Things could have been worse, but McAllister escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fifth with just one run scoring. He threw a total of 112 pitches, giving up six hits and three walks (one intentional) while registering a season-high seven strikeout. While McAllister took the loss, he remains a reliable option in AL-only formats. He lines up to face the White Sox next Tuesday.
Apr 18 - 10:30 PM

Zach McAllister pitched well in a losing effort against the Rays on Friday, surrendering four runs (two earned) on six hits over six innings.

McAllister struck out three in the ballgame without walking a batter. A pair of run-scoring doubles off the bat of Ben Zobrist accounted for three of the Rays' four runs. McAllister will look to build upon this strong first outing when he takes the ball against the Yankees at home next week.
Apr 5 - 9:56 PM

Indians manager Terry Francona has told Zach McAllister that he will be in the team's rotation.

McAllister entered camp as a favorite for one of the final spots, and he officially locked one up after four shutout innings Saturday. The right-hander was up-and-down in his 22 starts last season but holds some appeal in AL-only formats.
Mar 10 - 12:47 PM

Zach McAllister pitched four scoreless innings to get the win in the Indians' 9-2 victory over the Cubs Saturday.

McAllister earned the win on the strength of four innings of three-hit ball. The 25-year-old also struck out three batters while walking none. The righty started 22 games for the Indians last season and has an inside track on a spot in this year's rotation. After a shaky start to spring, Saturday was a step in the right direction for McAllister.
Mar 9 - 6:14 PM

Zach McAllister was lit up for five runs on seven hits and a walk over two innings in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.

He struck out one. McAllister looked good in his first spring outing, but this one was obviously a clunker. The right-hander is a favorite to land one of the final two spots in the Indians' rotation, but he could very easily wind up back at Triple-A if he has a bad spring.
Feb 28 - 6:42 PM

Indians general manager Chris Antonetti said Wednesday that Zach McAllister still has a leg up for one of the final two rotation spots.

Justin Masterson, Ubaldo Jimenez and Brett Myers are in place for the first three spots, leaving McAllister, Trevor Bauer, Carlos Carrasco, Corey Kluber and David Huff, Scott Kazmir and Daisuke Matsuzaka fighting it out for the final two. McAllister posted a 4.24 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 22 starts in 2012 and is only worth monitoring in AL-only fantasy leagues.
Feb 13 - 2:08 PM

Indians general manager Chris Antonetti said Friday that Zach McAllister has a leg up in the battle for the team's No. 4 starter job.

Justin Masterson, Ubaldo Jimenez and Brett Myers are locked into the first three spots, and McAllister is likely to grab another one. That leaves Trevor Bauer, Carlos Carrasco, Corey Kluber and David Huff as the main combatants for the final spot. McAllister posted a 4.24 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 22 starts in 2012.
Jan 4 - 3:36 PM

Zach McAllister closed out his 2012 season with a solid effort Sunday, holding the Royals to three runs over 6 2/3 innings in the 15-3 win.

The righty gave up five hits, walked two and struck out two. McAllister faded in August and September after a strong July, but he finishes the year with a respectable 4.24 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. He'll compete for a rotation spot next spring.

Zach McAllister limited the White Sox to two runs on just four hits and two walks over six innings in Monday’s loss.

He struck out seven. McAllister has been up and down of late, posting a 5.72 ERA since the beginning of August, but he’s mixed in enough solid outings and has been good enough overall that he should pretty well be locked into a rotation spot next year. The righty will face the Royals this weekend.

Zach McAllister was hit hard in Wednesday's loss to the Twins, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks in just 4 1/3 innings.

McAllister struck out three and served up a two-run homer to Josh Willingham in falling to 5-8. The non-quality outing was his fourth in five starts. Now the owner of a 4.31 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 101/34 K/BB ratio through 113 frames, McAllister will get the White Sox in Chicago on Monday.
