Zach Braddock (shoulder) began a throwing program last month but is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day.

Braddock underwent major surgery last July to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. "With these kinds of things you plan for whatever is going to happen and err on the side of caution," the 25-year-old southpaw said Thursday in Orioles camp. "I think the team and I both expect to just progress as smooth as we can."

Orioles signed LHP Zach Braddock to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Braddock hasn't appeared in the major leagues since 2011, when he posted a 7.27 ERA in 17 1/3 innings for the Brewers. The 25-year-old southpaw will be looking to get his career back on the right track with the Orioles.

Brewers released LHP Zach Braddock.

Braddock has a big arm, but he had problems with a sleep disorder last year and has also dealt with personal issues. Still, as a lefty that throws in the mid-90s, someone will be willing to take a chance on him.

Zach Braddock was placed on the temporary inactive list with Triple-A Nashville.

Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash refused to comment, but Braddock was placed on the inactive list last year while dealing with a sleep disorder. The 24-year-old southpaw has yet to make an appearance with Triple-A Nashville this season.

Zach Braddock didn't pitch Monday against the Rangers due to a quad strain.

This is apparently not related to his absence on Sunday. Braddock, who was limited to just 17 1/3 innings at the major league level last year due to a sleep disorder and personal issues, has allowed three runs on four hits and four walks over three innings this spring. He is likely to begin the season in the minors.

Zach Braddock didn't dress for the Brewers on Sunday and assistant general manager Gord Ash said he couldn't comment on the situation.

Braddock was in camp but didn't join fellow pitchers for morning workouts. Braddock had some sleep issues last year and has struggled with personal issues.

Zach Braddock was send home from Brewers' camp on Wednesday due to illness.

The Brewers naturally didn't want the rest of the clubhouse getting sick, but he should be back with the club in the next couple of days. Braddock posted a 7.27 ERA and an 18/11 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings in 2011 while dealing with a sleep disorder and personal issues.

Zach Braddock said Monday that he looks forward to competing for a bullpen spot after dealing with a sleep disorder and personal issues last year.

Braddock had a 7.27 ERA and an 18/11 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings last season and didn't throw another pitch after being placed on the inactive list in July. "I feel great," said Braddock. "I just had to take some time and address things. I went to Triple-A for a little bit, then I did shut it down and concentrated on some personal things." Braddock had a 2.94 ERA over 46 relief appearances during his rookie campaign in 2010, but he would likely need a very strong spring to win a spot on the Opening Day roster.

Zach Braddock was placed on the inactive list with Triple-A Nashville due to more problems with his sleep disorder.

"All I can say is that he is undergoing treatment for previously diagnosed issues," said Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash. The left-hander missed about a month earlier this season due to the sleep disorder and was demoted last month after being late on multiple occasions. There's no timetable for his return.

Brewers optioned LHP Zach Braddock to Triple-A Nashville.

Braddock posted a 19.80 in eight games since being recalled from Nashville in late June, though it's not clear if his sleep disorder was an issue this time around. He's a talented lefty and should be back at some point.

Brewers recalled LHP Zach Braddock from Triple-A Nashville.

Braddock was sent down to the minors earlier this month after his sleep disorder caused him to be late on multiple occasions. Hopefully it won't be an issue moving forward. The 23-year-old left-hander has pitched well for the Brewers this season, posting a 2.19 ERA and 13/6 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 innings. He could be especially useful against the Yankees this week.

The Brewers could promote Zach Braddock from Triple-A Nashville Monday.

Braddock was sent down earlier this month after his sleep disorder led to him being tardy on multiple occasions. But, manager Ron Roenicke said the left-hander is over the issue now and is available if called upon. Braddock has a 2.19 ERA and 1.14 WHIP while striking out over a batter per inning in 17 games this season for the Brew Crew.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke confirmed that Zach Braddock is still dealing with his sleeping disorder, which is why he was optioned to Triple-A Thursday.

"Zach is a good guy and works hard; he's trying to manage this stuff," Roenicke said. "We need him to go somewhere where he can just get everything right. Once he gets everything right, he was throwing the ball good, and we'd like to see him back here." There's no timetable for the lefty's return. Daniel Ray Herrera, who replaced Braddock on the roster, served up a three-run homer to Kosuke Fukudome in his first appearance with the Brewers Thursday.

Brewers optioned LHP Zach Braddock to Triple-A Nashville.

It's a bit of a surprise, since Braddock has made five scoreless appearances since returning from the disabled list, but Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said the 23-year-old left-hander has been arriving late to the ballpark. It sounds like he might not be completely over his recent sleep disorder issue. He has been a reliable reliever for the Brewers over the past two seasons, so hopefully he gets things figured out soon.
