According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, the Yankees are selling Romulo Sanchez's rights to a team in Japan.

There have been rumblings about a potential trade involving Sanchez for the past 24 hours. The 26-year-old right-hander has a 4.04 ERA and 19/17 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 major league innings between the Yankees and Pirates.

Romulo Sanchez was scratched from the Yankees' current road trip and could be a candidate for a trade.

Sanchez, who served a couple of brief stints in the Yankee pen last year, has a 3.86 ERA this spring, though that comes with seven walks in seven innings. Control has always been a big issue for him, and he's nothing more than a 12th man on a major league pitching staff.

Yankees recalled Romulo Sanchez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Sanchez hasn't allowed a run in 4 1/3 innings with the Yanks this year. He'll provide some innings in the final week so the more integral member of the pen can rest up for the playoffs.

Yankees optioned RHP Romulo Sanchez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Sanchez tossed 3 1/3 innings during Sunday's loss to the Red Sox, so the Yankees preferred a fresh arm out of the pen. Keep in mind, Sergio Mitre and Javier Vazquez are starting the next two games.

Yankees recalled RHP Romulo Sanchez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Mark Melancon, who was sent down three days ago, isn't eligible to rejoin the Yankees yet, so Sanchez will get a look, even though he had a 6.48 ERA in five Triple-A starts. He'll take over Sergio Mitre's long role in the pen.

Pirates recalled RHP Romulo Sanchez from Triple-A Indianapolis.

The 24-year-old Sanchez had a 3.46 ERA in 54 2/3 innings for Indianapolis. The Pirates' old regime thought he could be a big part of the team's pen going forward. He still has some work to do to convince the current management. He's probably not going to develop into more than a middle reliever.
