Giants designated INF Brandon Hicks for assignment.

Hicks had served as the Giants starting second baseman early in the season, but was hitting a meager .162/.280/.319 with eight homers and 22 RBI in his 204 at-bats on the season. He could attract interest via waivers from team's looking for middle infield depth.
Jul 11 - 8:58 PM

Brandon Hicks is not in the Giants starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Hicks is in a severe funk at the plate, hitting just .127 (7-for-55) with 26 strikeouts in his last 18 games. Ehire Adrianza will draw the start at second base and hit eighth for the Giants.
Jun 14 - 1:40 PM

Brandon Hicks hit a second inning solo homer off Robbie Erlin in a 3-2 win against the Padres on Wednesday.

The infielder struck out in his three other at-bats, but swinging and missing is a part of his game. What has impressed in the early going is his pop. Hicks has homered in three of his past four games to push his slugging percentage to .508 and his OPS to .851. The 28-year-old will continue to provide cheap NL-only value while Marco Scutaro is shelved.
May 1 - 1:00 AM

Brandon Hicks hit a three-run, walk-off homer to give the Giants a 4-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

After Buster Posey led off the ninth inning with a single, Indians reliever Cody Allen walked Brandon Crawford to get to Hicks. The 28-year-old made them pay, serving his third homer of the season into the left field stands for the game-winner. Hicks has a .846 OPS in 49 at-bats and should continue to get regular playing time while Marco Scutaro is on the DL.
Apr 27 - 8:52 PM

Brandon Hicks continued his hot-hitting in Friday's victory over the Dodgers, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles.

Hicks scored a pair of runs on the afternoon and picked up an RBI. If he continues to swing the bat well, he could work his way into regular playing time at second base while Marco Scutaro is sidelined, which could make him an interesting option in deeper NL-only formats.
Apr 4 - 7:49 PM

Giants purchased the contract of INF/OF Brandon Hicks from Triple-A Fresno.

He earned an Opening Day bench spot after hitting .348/.456/.696 with three homers this spring. Hicks will serve in a utility role.
Mar 30 - 8:58 AM

Brandon Hicks smashed a two-run homer off Clayton Kershaw on Sunday, powering the Giants to a 3-2 victory in their Cactus League tilt against the Giants.

Hicks finished the day 1-for-2 and also drew a pair of walks, including one with the bases loaded in the eighth to plate the game-winning run. The 28-year-old infielder is in camp competing for a bench job with the Giants.
Mar 9 - 7:57 PM

Giants signed INF Brandon Hicks to a minor league contract.

Hicks, a former third-round pick of the Braves, spent the entire 2013 season in the minor leagues. He is doubtful to crack the Opening Day roster in San Francisco.

Hicks was just designated for assignment by the Athletics last week. The 27-year-old batted .172 (11-for-64) with three homers and a .633 OPS in 22 games at the major league level this season and figures to serve as middle infield depth.

Athletics designated INF Brandon Hicks for assignment.

Athletics optioned INF Brandon Hicks to Triple-A Sacramento.

He was sent down in order to make room for Adam Rosales on the active roster. Hicks has had a couple nice moments with the A's over the past six weeks, but he's hitting just .183 with 29 strikeouts in 60 at-bats. That's just not going to fly in the big leagues.

Brandon Hicks hit a walkoff homer off Michael Kirkman in the bottom of the ninth as the A's edged the Rangers 4-3 on Wednesday.

It was his first big-league homer in 61 career at-bats. Hicks was only in the game because Cliff Pennington had been removed for a pinch-hitter earlier, and the homer came in his lone plate appearance. He had been hitting .147 with 13 strikeouts in 34 at-bats for the A's.
