Mark Bowman of reports that the Braves have been in touch with free agent catcher Brayan Pena.
Pena was originally signed by the Braves and spent the first four years of his major league career with the club. He turns 34 in January and batted .273/.334/.324 over 367 plate appearances with the Reds this past season. The Braves have already re-signed A.J. Pierzynski, so adding Pena would put Christian Bethancourt's future in question. Nov 18 - 11:36 AM

Brayan Peña got a pinch-hit single in Saturday's loss to the Marlins.

Pena exited Friday's contest with a tight left hamstring, but the fact that he was able to pinch-hit a day later is a good sign. He should be back in the lineup shortly.
