Nationals signed RHP Josh Roenicke to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

The brother in law of new teammate Ian Desmond, Roenicke put up a 4.35 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 63 appearances last season for the Twins. His velocity has steadily declined the last few years, making him just organizational depth at this point.

Josh Roenicke was perfect for 1 1/3 innings out of the pen Monday against the Tigers.

Claimed by the Twins, he has a 1.50 ERA in 12 innings so far this year. Meanwhile, the Rockies' bullpen imports have ERAs of 6.75 (Wilton Lopez) and 8.53 (Chris Volstad).

Blue Jays recalled RHP Josh Roenicke from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Roenicke, 27, posted a 7.13 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in 13 relief appearances after being acquired from the Reds in the Scott Rolen trade last July, battling elbow soreness. The 6-foot-3 sinkerballer had 8 2/3 scoreless innings under his belt with Triple-A Las Vegas to begin the season. It's unlikely that he finds himself in the mix for saves anytime soon, but he profiles in the back end of a bullpen in the long-term.
