Brewers signed LHP Nick Hagadone to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training.

Hagadone joins the Brewers after putting up a 4.28 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 28/12 K/BB ratio over 27 1/3 innings with the Indians last year. He's coming off surgery to repair a fractured left elbow, but Hagadone should have a shot at cracking the Brewers' active roster with a healthy spring.

Nick Hagadone has elected free agency.

Hagadone was removed from the 40-man roster earlier this week and has decided to look for a job elsewhere rather than accept an outright assignment. The left-hander posted a 4.28 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 28/12 K/BB ratio over 27 1/3 innings in 2015 before undergoing season-ending surgery to repair a fractured left elbow. He's expected to be ready for Opening Day.

Indians designated LHP Nick Hagadone for assignment.

The Indians needed to make a corresponding 40-man roster move after acquiring outfielder Collin Cowgill from the Angels. Hagadone's designation would be the aforementioned corresponding move. He held a 4.28 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and 28/12 K/BB ratio in 27 1/3 innings this year, but the southpaw suffered a fractured left elbow in mid-June and subsequently missed the remainder of the 2015 campaign. He should be ready to pitch by the start of the 2016 season.

Indians manager Terry Francona said Nick Hagadone was scheduled to have surgery on his left elbow Thursday.

Francona previously hinted that Hagadone suffered another tear of the ulnar collateral ligament, raising the possibility of another Tommy John surgery, but he said Thursday that the upcoming procedure is "not typical." We should have more information soon, but it's clear that he won't be pitching anytime in the near future.

Nick Hagadone (elbow) will receive a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday.

The feeling is that Hagadone probably tore his ulnar collateral ligament and the fact that he's going to see Dr. Andrews certainly doesn't do anything to quell those fears. More should be known about the lefty's status later Wednesday or Thursday.

Indians manager Terry Francona indicated Thursday that Nick Hagadone (elbow) suffered a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament during a rehab appearance Wednesday.

Hagadone had Tommy John surgery in 2008, and Francona said "it looks like he did it again." The left-hander will receive a second opinion before a decision is made, but it looks like he could be going under the knife. "We'll have more [when he gets re-examined]," Francona added. "This isn't something that's [just] a week with no throwing."

Nick Hagadone left a rehab appearance Wednesday at Low-A Mahoning Valley with pain in his left elbow.

Indians manager Terry Francona is expected to address the situation Thursday at the club's team workout in Cincinnati. Hagadone has been on the disabled list since July 7 because of a lower back strain. The 29-year-old left-hander owns a 4.28 ERA in 27 1/3 innings of relief this season out of the Cleveland bullpen.
