Apr 14 - 6:56 PM

Buster Posey (concussion) was slated to ramp up his activity on Thursday.

He’ll lift weights and do some cardio. Posey was placed on the seven-day concussion DL after taking a pitch off his helmet Monday against the Diamondbacks but seems to be on the mend. The Giants are cautiously optimistic that he’ll return as soon as he’s first eligible. Nick Hundley and Tim Federowicz have been sharing the catching duties in his absence.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that Buster Posey (concussion) is already feeling better.

Posey was placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list on Tuesday after taking a Taijuan Walker fastball to the helmet during Monday's game against the Diamondbacks. While Posey reported improvement on Wednesday, Bochy said that his All-Star backstop will be shut down for the next few days for precautionary reasons. A timetable for his return figures to clarify once he begins taking part in baseball activities. In the meantime, Nick Hundley figures to draw the bulk of starts behind the plate for the Giants.
Apr 12 - 8:05 PM

Giants placed C Buster Posey on the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Posey took a 94 mph Taijuan Walker fastball off the side of his batting helmet on Monday afternoon. He was in good spirits after the game, but the Giants want to play it safe with their star catcher. Nick Hundley figures to get the bulk of playing time behind the plate for the Giants while Posey is sidelined. Tim Federowicz has been called up from Triple-A to serve as Hundley's backup.
Apr 11 - 5:56 PM

According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, the Giants are likely to place Buster Posey (head) on the disabled list.

Posey reported feeling fine after taking a fastball off his batting helmet Monday afternoon at AT&T Park, but Pavlovic notes Tuesday that the Giants "don't want to take any risks" with their star catcher. There should be something more official soon. Nick Hundley replaced Posey behind the plate on Monday against the Diamondbacks and will probably see the bulk of action there over the next 7-10 days.
Apr 11 - 5:18 PM

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said after Monday's game versus the Diamondbacks that Buster Posey (head) is "fine right now."

Posey had to leave the contest after being hit in the head by a 94 mph fastball from Taijuan Walker. It was a scary incident but evidently Posey is not showing post-concussion symptoms at this point. He's certainly not out of the woods yet, though. Posey will be under observation overnight and re-evaluated on Tuesday.
Apr 10 - 7:34 PM

Buster Posey departed Monday's game versus the Diamondbacks after being hit on the helmet by a Taijuan Walker pitch.

It was a 94 mph fastball that got Posey on the side of the helmet. He immediately fell to the ground and while he sat up shortly after, he looked a bit dazed. Posey is undoubtedly set to go through concussion protocol. The Giants should have an update on the star catcher after the game, but obviously this has the potential to be something that sidelines him for a while. Posey was replaced by Nick Hundley.
Apr 10 - 4:55 PM

Buster Posey went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Posey followed up Hunter Pence's two-run home run off Clayton Richard with a solo shot of his own in the third inning. This was the All-Star backstop's first tater of the budding 2017 season. He has also doubled twice in the early going. There is no more dependable fantasy catcher in the land.

Buster Posey finished 2-for-3 with two RBI in the Giants' Cactus League loss to the Royals on Sunday.

Mar 3 - 6:04 PM

Mar 3 - 12:01 PM

Buster Posey (neck) said he's feeling better and wants to catch Friday's Cactus League game against the Athletics.

Posey has missed the last two games with a stiff neck but should be back in the lineup on Friday. Assuming that's the case, Posey should log six or seven innings behind the plate on both Friday and Sunday before heading off to represent the United States in the World Baseball Classic. Posey had a slightly down year by his standards in 2016 but still hit a respectable .288 with 14 homers and 80 RBI.
