Buster Posey hit a walk-off two-run homer in the ninth inning to send the Giants to a 4-2 victory over the Rockies on Wednesday.
It was his second career walk-off homer. The catcher finished 3-for-5 with three RBI. Posey hit his 16th and 17th home runs on Tuesday, and his 18th tonight -- he's one of many pro batters that practices gratitude for the existence of Rockies' pitchers. During his seven-game hitting streak, Posey is 15-for-31 (.484) with five homers and 10 RBI. Aug 28 - 1:28 AM

Buster Posey belted his 16th and 17th home runs of the season and accounted for all of San Francisco's offense in Tuesday's 3-0 victory over the Rockies.

This was his second career multi-homer game (the other coming in 2010). Posey knocked in RBI 63 and 64 while taking Rockies' starter Jorge De La Rosa deep in the sixth inning, and got his 65th with an emphatic eighth inning homer off Brooks Brown. Posey might have gotten JDLR at less than full strength -- the hurler suffered a thumb contusion while batting in the top half of the frame -- but he certainly won't give it back (De La Rosa was immediately removed once Posey crossed home plate). Posey finished the game 2-for-4. The catcher is slashing .288/.346/.457.

Buster Posey hit his fifteenth home run of the season and knocked in RBI 60 and 61 in Friday's win over the Nationals.

Posey finished the game 2-for-5. The home run came off of Nationals starter Doug Fister. Posey also added a double, his 22nd, off of reliever Ross Detwiler. On the season, Posey is slashing .284/.345/.438. He's hit fifteen home runs and batted in 61.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said moving Buster Posey to first base isn't being discussed right now.

"Right now, no," Bochy said. "Down the road, sure, that’s something we will talk about. It could lighten the load on Buster. Whether at some point down the road he will get out from behind the plate, I can’t answer that. Right now it’s not discussed." Posey has been bothered by a hip issue recently, and catching certainly isn't helping the matter. Still, having a catcher with Posey's bat is incredibly valuable, and the Giants appear ready to leave him there for the time being. Bochy did say that if and when Posey does move it will be to first and not to third base, as some have wondered. But for now, neither move is on the horizon.
Aug 22 - 6:27 PM

Buster Posey finished 4-for-4 with a walk, a pair of doubles, and a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Cubs.

Posey homered in the fifth inning off of Travis Wood, breaking a 3-3 tie. It's the fifth time in his career he reached base five times in a game, with the most recent occurring on July 8 last season in a 16-inning loss. Posey owns a .282/.342/.435 slash line along with 14 home runs and 59 RBI on the season.
Aug 22 - 12:18 AM

Buster Posey (hip) will be back in the Giants' starting lineup on Thursday against the Cubs.

The Giants first have to finish out a suspended game and then will play a full nine innings after that. Posey, who sat out Wednesday after experiencing some discomfort in his left hip, is expected to participate in both.
Aug 21 - 3:05 PM

Buster Posey is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Cubs after his left hip flared up.

The issue affected his at-bats on Tuesday, so he has been getting treatment all day Wednesday. He's available off the bench and the hope is that he'll be ready to go Thursday. Consider him day-to-day.
Aug 20 - 6:34 PM

Buster Posey is not in the Giants' starting lineup Wednesday night at Wrigley Field.

It's just a day of rest. Andrew Susac is catching Jake Peavy and Travis Ishikawa is at first base.
Aug 20 - 4:44 PM

Giants manager Bruce Bochy indicated that Buster Posey will receive a day of rest on Tuesday.

He has seen increased work behind the dish recently with Hector Sanchez sidelined, but with Sanchez expected back on Tuesday the All-Star backstop will get a breather. He's hitting .288/.346/.446 with 13 homers and 57 RBI on the season.
Aug 3 - 4:22 PM

Buster Posey went 3-for-4 Tuesday in a 3-1 setback against the Pirates.

Posey came into tonight in a 3-for-17 slump, so it was nice to see the big game, though it came without an extra-base hit, run scored or RBI. It was that kind of night for the offense, and it's been that kind of week for the Giants, who are free-falling. San Francisco has been outscored 27-6 during its current six-game losing streak.
Jul 30 - 1:10 AM

Buster Posey went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored Friday against the Marlins.

Posey had RBI singles in the third and fifth innings. He came into Friday's action hitting just .163 (7-for-43) this month. This was his first multi-hit game since June 26. He's obviously capable of much better moving forward.
Jul 18 - 10:36 PM

Buster Posey hit one of the Giants' two grand slams on the day, propelling the Giants to an 8-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

The homer was Posey's 10th of the season and his first since June 14. The catcher is having a down year by his standards, batting .275/.331/.422 with 46 RBI. He's particularly struggled in July, so perhaps the All-Star break comes at a good time for the 27-year-old.
Jul 13 - 9:57 PM

Buster Posey is not in the Giants starting lineup for Friday's contest against the Diamondbacks.

It's nothing more than a day of rest for the hard-hitting backstop. Hector Sanchez will get the start behind the plate and hit fifth for the Giants against Mike Bolsinger.
Jul 11 - 6:04 PM

Buster Posey went 0-for-4 in Thursday's loss and is 6-for-34 with two RBI so far this month.

Posey hit .362 in June, but he's back slumping again now. He's scored just one run in his last 16 games, and he hasn't homered since June 14. If the Giants are ever going to pull out of their funk, it will be up to Posey to lead the way.
Jul 10 - 6:57 PM

Buster Posey (head) is back in the Giants' starting lineup on Tuesday night versus the White Sox.

Posey left Sunday's series finale against the Rockies after taking a foul tip off his catcher's mask. He has passed all of his concussion tests and will bat third as the Giants' designated hitter Tuesday in Chicago.
