The Dodgers tied things up in the top of the sixth before the Giants took the lead again in the sixth. Posey provided some insurance with an RBI double in the seventh. The veteran backstop has now hit safely in 11 straight games. He’s tied for fourth in the NL with a .321 batting average.

Buster Posey (finger) went 2-for-4 on Sunday in a loss to the White Sox.

Posey was back behind the plate after spending the last two games at DH due to a contusion in his right finger. He's now hitting .320 on the year, and he's really the only bright spot in what has been an atrocious year for the Giants.

Buster Posey (finger) is expected to return to the catcher position on Sunday.

Posey has served as the Giants' designated hitter the last two days on the south side of Chicago due to a contusion on his right ring finger. He suffered that injury Tuesday night against the Rockies when he took a foul tip off his hand.

Posey was in serious pain after getting struck by a foul tip of the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday night against the Rockies, but X-rays turned up negative. Consider him day-to-day. Tim Federowicz finished out Tuesday night's loss behind the plate and will probably start there on Wednesday.

Posey ran out past the mound in pain after getting struck with a ricochet off the bat of DJ LeMahieu in the bottom of the eighth inning at Coors Field. He's probably headed for X-rays. Look for an update on the star catcher by the end of the night. Tim Federowicz took over behind the plate for the visiting Giants.

Buster Posey went 1-for-3 and delivered a clutch ninth-inning RBI versus the Cardinals on Saturday.

The Giants had been held scoreless on one hit through eight innings before Posey's single tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. They ended up winning the game in extras to spoil a magnificent start by Lance Lynn. Posey also worked a walk while serving as the first baseman in the ballgame and is slashing .317/.405/.468 with 12 homers and 56 RBI on the season.

Aug 30 - 7:51 PM

Buster Posey (thumb) remains out of the Giants' starting lineup on Tuesday night.

Posey has been bothered by a thumb issue for the last couple of weeks, though an MRI taken Monday revealed only a bone bruise and inflammation and he should be ready for action before the end of the week. Nick Hundley is starting at catcher and batting seventh Tuesday versus Padres right-hander Luis Perdomo.
Aug 29 - 6:22 PM

An MRI on Buster Posey's left thumb has revealed a bone bruise and inflammation.

Posey will sit out a second straight game Tuesday, but Giants manager Bruce Bochy thinks his catcher will be OK after he receives some treatment. The former MVP has dealt with nagging soreness since he first injured the thumb on August 20.
Aug 29 - 1:00 AM

Buster Posey (thumb) underwent an MRI on Monday.

The Giants are calling the exam precautionary, but it's certainly worrisome that Posey has dealt with nagging discomfort since his left thumb got bent back on a tag play on August 20. Even if the MRI comes back clean, Posey said Monday that he expect to rest for a couple games.
Aug 28 - 8:40 PM

Buster Posey said Monday that he'll probably need a couple days off to rest his ailing left thumb.

Posey's thumb got bent back on a tag play on August 20 and he admitted Monday that he's been playing through discomfort. There don't appear to be any plans at the moment for him to undergo any tests, but it sounds like he won't be back in the lineup until Wednesday at the earliest. Nick Hundley will fill in.
