Buster Posey went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored Friday against the Marlins.
Posey had RBI singles in the third and fifth innings. He came into Friday's action hitting just .163 (7-for-43) this month. This was his first multi-hit game since June 26. He's obviously capable of much better moving forward. Jul 18 - 10:36 PM

Buster Posey hit one of the Giants' two grand slams on the day, propelling the Giants to an 8-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

The homer was Posey's 10th of the season and his first since June 14. The catcher is having a down year by his standards, batting .275/.331/.422 with 46 RBI. He's particularly struggled in July, so perhaps the All-Star break comes at a good time for the 27-year-old.
Jul 13 - 9:57 PM

Buster Posey is not in the Giants starting lineup for Friday's contest against the Diamondbacks.

It's nothing more than a day of rest for the hard-hitting backstop. Hector Sanchez will get the start behind the plate and hit fifth for the Giants against Mike Bolsinger.
Jul 11 - 6:04 PM

Buster Posey went 0-for-4 in Thursday's loss and is 6-for-34 with two RBI so far this month.

Posey hit .362 in June, but he's back slumping again now. He's scored just one run in his last 16 games, and he hasn't homered since June 14. If the Giants are ever going to pull out of their funk, it will be up to Posey to lead the way.
Jul 10 - 6:57 PM

Buster Posey (head) is back in the Giants' starting lineup on Tuesday night versus the White Sox.

Posey left Sunday's series finale against the Rockies after taking a foul tip off his catcher's mask. He has passed all of his concussion tests and will bat third as the Giants' designated hitter Tuesday in Chicago.
Jun 17 - 4:34 PM

Buster Posey (head) hopes to play Tuesday in the Giants' series opener against the White Sox.

Posey was lifted from Sunday's series finale versus the Rockies after taking a foul tip off his catcher's mask in the fourth inning. He passed postgame concussion tests. "As a competitor, you never want to come out," Posey said Sunday evening. "But when your head feels a little weird -- I've taken a couple of hard ones in the last three or four days -- I thought it was the right move."
Jun 16 - 10:54 AM

The Giants announced that Buster Posey was removed from Sunday's game for precautionary reasons after he took a foul ball off his catching mask in the fourth inning.

He'll be tested to ensure that he didn't suffer a concussion, but for the time being it doesn't appear as though the injury should keep him out of the lineup for an extended period of time.
Jun 15 - 6:34 PM

Buster Posey was removed from Sunday's contest against the Rockies after taking a foul ball off his mask in the top half of the fourth inning.

He finished the inning, but was lifted for pinch-hitter Hector Sanchez in the bottom half of the fourth inning. The Giants should have an update on his status shortly.
Jun 15 - 5:46 PM

Buster Posey is not in the Giants' lineup Sunday.

Posey's back is fine, as he's just getting a routine day of rest. Hector Sanchez is behind the dish Sunday. Angel Pagan is also getting a breather, with Gregor Blanco handling center field.
Jun 8 - 3:02 PM

Buster Posey hit a two-run homer off Carlos Torres in the bottom of the eighth to lead the Giants to a 4-2 win over the Mets on Friday.

Posey also singled twice earlier in the game. The homer was his first since he hit his seventh way back on May 3. Hopefully it means that his back is feeling better now. He's off to a 9-for-22 start in June after hitting just .244/.315/.295 during May.
Jun 7 - 1:37 AM

Buster Posey finished 3-for-5 in the Giants' 8-0 rout of the Cardinals on Sunday in St. Louis.

Posey opened the game's scoring with an RBI single in the top of the first inning -- part of a four-run opening frame for the visiting team. The Giants took three of four at Busch Stadium and boast the best record in Major League Baseball (37-20) a third of the way through the 2014 season. Posey is batting .264/.340/.402.
Jun 1 - 5:40 PM

Buster Posey is back in the Giants' lineup Sunday.

Posey hasn't played since Wednesday and has missed a handful of games over the last couple weeks with some nerve irritation in his back. However, he's obviously feeling better Sunday and is ready to give it a go against Lance Lynn and the Cardinals.
Jun 1 - 11:48 AM

Buster Posey (back) remained out of the Giants' lineup Friday.

Posey is nursing some nerve irritation in his back and isn't ready to return to the lineup. The Giants haven't given any indication to this point that it's more than a day-to-day situation. Hector Sanchez is catching Friday.
May 30 - 4:33 PM

Buster Posey was held out of Thursday's lineup due to his recent back issue.

Posey missed two games last week due to nerve irritation in his back and still isn't feeling 100 percent. It's possible he'll be available to pinch-hit Thursday, so it doesn't sound like a major concern.
May 29 - 5:12 PM

Buster Posey is not in Thursday's lineup against the Cardinals.

No word yet on the reason for his absence, but he missed two games last week due to nerve irritation in his back. Hector Sanchez will start behind the plate Thursday.
