Buster Posey went 2-for-4 with a double as the Giants were shut out by the Cubs in Game 1 of the NLDS on Friday.

Posey doubled off of Aroldis Chapman with two outs in the ninth inning, but Hunter Pence wasn't able to cash him in. He made a blunder on the base paths earlier in the contest, perhaps thinking that there was only one out instead of two, as he slowed down heading to second base and didn't score on Angel Pagan's fourth-inning double. Posey was the only Giant to record more than one hit in the ballgame.
Oct 7 - 11:54 PM

Buster Posey helped get the Giants into the playoffs, going 3-for-5 and driving in three runs in Sunday's victory over the Dodgers.

He got the Giants on the board early, stroking a two-RBI single in the first inning. He added another RBI single in the second frame. Posey didn't have one of his better seasons but did plenty to help his owners nonetheless. He ends up with a .288/.362/.434 slash line with 14 homers and 80 RBI in 146 games.
Oct 2 - 7:12 PM

Buster Posey went 1-for-3 and delivered a two-run single as the Giants fell to the Padres in San Diego on Sunday.

His run-scoring knock off of Clayton Richard came during a three-run rally in the third inning that gave the Giants an early 3-1 lead. Unfortunately, that would be the extent of their offense in the contest. Posey has disappointed relative to expectations this season, slashing .288/.358/.434 with only 13 homers and 73 RBI on the season.
Sep 25 - 8:41 PM

Buster Posey went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI as the Giants bested the Cardinals 8-2 on Friday.

Posey hasn't had many outbursts like this one this season, but he's still putting up very solid numbers; he's batting .294 and has 32 doubles to go along with his 13 homers. He's also sporting a 60/57 K/BB ratio. The Giants could use the power surge if it comes, but they can't complain either way.
Sep 17 - 2:11 AM

Buster Posey is out of the Giants' starting lineup on Monday against the Rockies.

It looks to be a routine day of rest. Trevor Brown will start behind the plate and bat eighth.
Sep 5 - 1:49 PM

Buster Posey went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and two total RBI in Wednesday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Posey opened the scoring when he notched an RBI double off Diamondbacks starter Shelby Miller in the first inning. He would also loft a sacrifice fly in the seventh. The rock-of-a-backstop is slashing .296/.373/.453 with 12 homers and 62 RBI over 426 at-bats. He has recorded at least one hit in seven of his last eight games.
Aug 31 - 8:29 PM

Buster Posey is not in the Giants starting lineup on Sunday.

Manager Bruce Bochy had been hinting that he needed to get Posey a night off, and it looks as though Sunday night is the time. Trevor Brown will start behind the dish for the Giants.
Aug 21 - 4:57 PM

Buster Posey (back) went 2-for-4 with a two-run double in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates.

Posey has been dealing with a bit of a tight lower back of late and sat out games on Sunday and Monday, but his bat looked no worse for the wear in Tuesday's return to the lineup. The rock-of-a-backstop struck early, notching a two-run double in the first inning. He would later add a single. Assuming his back doesn't tighten up on him again, fantasy owners should feel free to utilize him as normal moving forward. For the season, Posey is slashing .290/.369/.457 with 26 doubles, 12 homers and 56 RBI across 383 at-bats.
Aug 17 - 2:01 AM

Buster Posey (back) has returned to the Giants' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Pirates.

Posey was a late scratch Sunday against the Orioles after experiencing lower back tightness and he sat out of Monday's series opener against the Bucs with lingering discomfort. He will start at catcher and bat cleanup Tuesday versus Pirates right-hander Jameson Taillon.
Aug 16 - 6:09 PM

Buster Posey (back) is out of the Giants' lineup again on Monday against the Pirates.

Posey was a late scratch Sunday due to lower back tightness. He tried to test his back by running on Monday, but isn't quite ready to return to the lineup. Consider him day-to-day for now. Trevor Brown will start behind the plate again.
Aug 15 - 6:35 PM

Buster Posey was scratched from the Giants' lineup Sunday with lower back tightness.

It's probably safe to call him day-to-day, although the Giants might have more on his status after the game. Trevor Brown replaced Posey in the lineup.
Aug 14 - 3:45 PM

Buster Posey is getting the night off Tuesday.

Posey caught all 14 innings of Monday night's marathon win over the Marlins. He also appeared to injure his finger on a slide into third base, but his absence Tuesday night is more about rest than anything. Trevor Brown will start at catcher versus Miami.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: With Posey sitting, Brandon Crawford will take over the clean-up spot and provides really nice value at several DFS outlets. Crawford owns a .362 wOBA, .190 ISO and 36.9 hard% against RHP on the road, and while Tom Koehler has shown some reverse split tendencies over the last two years, he's still allowing more hard contact to lefties. Brandon Belt (.376 wOBA, .198 ISO) will hit in front of Crawford with Conor Gillaspie slotting fifth.
Aug 9 - 4:24 PM

Buster Posey went 1-for-4 with a double in Sunday's loss to the Nationals.

Posey was the only Giants hitter to manage an extra-base hit against Tanner Roark. He would not come around to score in what ended as a 1-0 defeat. For the season, the All-Star backstop is slashing .290/.362/.460 with 23 doubles, 12 homers and 52 RBI over 365 at-bats. He has also opened up his running game (as it were) and is currently sitting on a career-best six steals.
Aug 7 - 6:15 PM

Buster Posey is out of the Giants' starting lineup Thursday against the Phillies.

Posey caught all 12 innings of Wednesday night's marathon loss to the Phillies, going 2-for-5 with three RBI. Trevor Brown will catch Matt Moore in his Giants debut.
