Buster Posey went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk in Thursday's win over the Padres.
Posey didn't have a supernova offensive performance in this one, but his hit was an important one, as it drove in a run in the eighth inning to give the Giants a 2-0 lead. They had been clinging to a 1-0 advantage since the fifth inning prior to the All Star backstop's clutch knock. Posey is slashing .290/.364/.429 with five home runs and 26 RBI in 61 games this season. It hasn't been a bad year, exactly, more a muted one. His counting production is less than robust. Buster Posey is getting the day off Wednesday.

Nick Hundley will start at catcher and bat fifth versus Marlins right-hander Jose Urena. This looks to be a routine day of rest for Posey, who's slashing .289/.362/.430 with five home runs and 25 RBI through 60 games.
Jun 20 - 1:42 PM

Buster Posey returned to the Giants' starting lineup on Monday.

Posey was held out of action on Sunday due to general soreness, but all appears to be well now. He's catching and batting cleanup on a Monday.
Jun 18 - 6:49 PM

Buster Posey is absent from the Giants' lineup Sunday due to "general soreness," according to manager Bruce Bochy.

It's mainly just Posey needing a breather following a long road trip. He'll be back in there Monday. Nick Hundley will do the catching Sunday.
Jun 17 - 1:47 PM

Buster Posey is absent from the Giants' starting lineup on Friday.

After catching for 16 innings in Thursday's marathon against the Marlins, Posey will get a well-deserved day off. Nick Hundley is behind the dish and batting sixth for the Giants against Jose Urena and the Marlins.
Jun 15 - 6:40 PM

Buster Posey went 3-for-4, stole a base and scored twice in a loss to the Marlins on Wednesday.

He also worked a walk in the contest to boost his line to .301/.373/.435 with four home runs and 24 RBI in 55 games. He's obviously hitting for a good average but hasn't generated much in the way of power or run production for a Giants squad that has been better than expected.
Jun 14 - 12:03 AM

Buster Posey knocked in two runs on two hits in a win over the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Posey knocked in two runs on a double -- his 12th of the year -- that scored two in the fourth inning. He now has 23 RBI on the season, and he's hitting a strong .306/.374/.450 on the 2018 season.
Jun 5 - 1:25 AM

Buster Posey (elbow) was in the starting lineup Sunday against the Phillies and he finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two runs scored and two RBI.

Posey showed no ill effects of the elbow injury which forced him out of Saturday's game. He was clipped by a pitch on the elbow in Friday's contest. It appears safe to plug Posey back into the active fantasy lineup in all leagues heading into the upcoming week.
Jun 3 - 8:57 PM

Buster Posey missed Saturday's game with an elbow contusion.

The backstop got hit on the elbow by a pitch in Friday night's game, and it was obviously still a little sore Saturday. It doesn't sound serious -- he remained in the game Friday -- so he'll likely be back in there Sunday. Nick Hundley got the start behind the dish Saturday with Posey out.
Jun 2 - 10:31 PM

Buster Posey went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs as his team beat the Rockies 7-4 on Wednesday.

The first RBI was a gift as he walked with the bases loaded in the fourth inning. He plated an insurance run in the eighth inning by singling to drive in Kelby Tomlinson. Posey has missed games of late as he nurses a tender hip. He has a .299 batting average with three home runs, 19 RBI and 22 runs scored in 167 at-bats on the season. If history is our guide he will pick up the pace as the season unfolds.
May 31 - 1:56 AM

Buster Posey finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 11-4 loss in Colorado.

Posey dialed long distance for just the third time this season, although he is slashing a respectable .294/.364/.429. The good news is that he was able to turn on a Kyle Freeland offering in the sixth inning, showing no ill effects of the hip injury which had him sidelined over the weekend. He is currently on pace for just nine homers and that would be his lowest total since 2011. Still, Posey is still helping with a respectable average and his OPS isn't too far off from the norm. He remains a fantasy start through thick and thin.
May 30 - 12:29 AM

Buster Posey (hip) is back in the Giants' lineup Monday.

Posey missed the last two games with a sore right hip but is feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. He is catching and batting third against Chad Bettis and the Rockies.
May 28 - 4:23 PM

Buster Posey (hip) remains out of the Giants' starting lineup on Sunday.

It's the second straight game that Posey has missed with what the Giants are calling a minor ailment. He's still considered day-to-day. Nick Hundley will once again start behind the dish and will bat eighth for the Giants against Tyler Chatwood and the Cubs.
May 27 - 5:12 PM

Buster Posey is out of Saturday's lineup against the Cubs with right hip soreness.

He's just day to day and is available to pinch-hit, but it's an ailment nonetheless. He's in question for Sunday's game as well. Nick Hundley is getting the start post-dish Saturday, and would start Sunday's game if Posey is out for that one, too. Still, it's not considered serious.
May 26 - 5:52 PM

Buster Posey is not in the Giants' lineup Saturday against the Cubs.

Posey gets a lot of maintenance days, especially with more-than-capable Nick Hundley as a backup, so this is likely just another day of rest. Hundley got the start behind the dish in his absence.
