After being eliminated from postseason contention Tuesday, the Giants will rest their star catcher in Wednesday's series finale. Trevor Brown is behind the plate for the Giants in Posey's absence.
Sep 30 - 6:38 PM

Buster Posey (hip, back) finished 0-for-4 in his return to the Giants' lineup Wednesday.

He did however score a run. Posey was a late scratch from Tuesday's starting lineup due to some mild soreness in his hip and back. They shouldn't be lingering issues.
Sep 24 - 8:53 AM

Buster Posey is dealing with some hip and back soreness but plans to play on Wednesday.

Posey was a late scratch from Tuesday's lineup but it appears that he'll be fine. He'll get plenty of playing time at first base down the stretch with Brandon Belt (concussion) looking unlikely to return this season.
Sep 22 - 7:51 PM

Buster Posey was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with an undisclosed injury.

Posey had been scheduled to play first base, but he was testing something out pre-game and eventually scratched. The Giants should have more on his status later Tuesday. Ehire Adrianza replaced him at first.
Sep 22 - 7:05 PM

Buster Posey went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Tim Hudson and Jeremy Hellickson were tossing up zeros until the sixth inning, when the Giants posted a four-spot. Three of the four runs came courtesy of Mr. Posey, who launched a three-run homer off Randall Delgado. He's hitting a phenomenal .327/.390/.488 with 19 homers and 93 RBI this season.
Sep 20 - 7:19 PM

Buster Posey went 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI single, and a three-run home run in Tuesday's 10-inning loss to the Reds.

Posey tied the game at 3-3 in the fourth inning when he homered to left-center field with two runners aboard against John Lamb. He added an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into an 8-8 tie as the Giants rallied to come back. Posey is batting .329/.393/.489 with 18 home runs, 89 RBI, and 70 runs scored on the year.
Sep 16 - 2:21 AM

Buster Posey went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and two total RBI in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Posey notched his first RBI with a double in the fifth inning, then drove in his second run two frames later via a bases loaded walk. He's dealt with a bit of a sore left ankle over the last few days, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him with a few extra days off down the stretch. For the season, the All-Star catcher is hitting a lovely .329/.392/.486 with 17 homers and 85 RBI.
Sep 13 - 7:26 PM

Buster Posey is out of the Giants' lineup Wednesday with a stiff left ankle.

It's just a precautionary day off for the veteran backstop, but it's somewhat concerning because it's the same ankle Posey fractured during the 2011 season. Still, it sounds as though it's nothing more than a maintenance day for the 28-year-old.
Sep 9 - 8:01 PM

Buster Posey is not in the Giants' lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

It's a day off for the catcher, who has already played in 130 games for the fourth straight season. Jackson Williams will get the start behind the dish with Posey out.
Sep 9 - 6:48 PM

Buster Posey clubbed his 100th major league home run as the Giants topped the Rockies 7-4 in Colorado on Sunday.

His solo blast came off Yohan Flande in the fourth inning and tied the game at 2-2. He also doubled and drew a walk in the ballgame, finishing the afternoon 2-for-4 with three runs scored. He's having another outstanding season offensively, pacing all major league catchers offensively by hitting .326/.384/.484 with 17 homers and 81 RBI.
Sep 6 - 7:58 PM

Buster Posey is not in Saturday's lineup against the Rockies.

Posey is a little banged up after getting hit by a pitch on Friday and fouling a ball off his foot. The Giants would rather have him fresh for Sunday's day game than putting him out there Saturday at less than 100 percent. Hector Sanchez will start behind the plate and bat seventh. Posey has hit .520 during his six-game hitting streak and now ranks third in the National League in batting average at .325.
Sep 5 - 5:34 PM

Buster Posey went 1-for-3 with a double in Friday's loss to the Rockies.

The double was Posey's 23rd of the season. It extended his current hitting streak to six games and the catcher has picked up knocks in nine out of his last 10 games. With the hot streak, he's now hitting a superb .324/.381/.475 with 16 homers and 80 RBI.
Sep 5 - 12:57 AM

Buster Posey went 3-for-4 in a 2-1 loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.

All three hits were singles and none led to a run because his teammates were busy getting sawed off by Clayton Kershaw. Posey has 11 hits in his last four games and is now batting .325 with 16 homers and 80 RBI.
Sep 3 - 12:49 AM

Buster Posey went 4-for-7 but the Giants were defeated in 14 innings by the Dodgers on Monday.

All four hits were singles, but the Giants couldn't capitalize on any of them. Posey is batting a lusty .321/.377/.475 with 16 home runs and 80 RBI on the season.
