Buster Posey (neck, shoulder) went 0-for-3 with a walk Wednesday in his return to action.
Posey sat out Tuesday's game with some stiffness in his right trapezius muscle, but he was able to play nine innings of first base on Wednesday night against the Rockies and he should be back at catcher on Thursday against the Diamondbacks. Posey is batting just .219/.333/.406 on the young season, though he does have two home runs in 10 games. Apr 16 - 8:51 AM

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Buster Posey (neck, shoulder) will be back in the Giants' lineup at first base on Wednesday.

Posey is sitting out Tuesday with some stiffness in his trapezius, but he'll be fine. Hector Sanchez is at catcher Tuesday and will be there again Wednesday with Posey handling first base.

Buster Posey is not in the Giants' lineup Tuesday due to a tight trapezius muscle.

The muscle tightened up on him during Monday's game, so the Giants are playing it safe and resting their star. It doesn't sound like more than a day-to-day situation, so Posey should have a shot to get back in there on Wednesday. Hector Sanchez is at catcher Tuesday.
Apr 14 - 6:33 PM

Buster Posey is out of the Giants' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Rockies.

It's the first day off of the season for Posey, who's batting .250/.353/.464 through 34 plate appearances. Hector Sanchez will catch starter Tim Hudson.
Apr 14 - 5:53 PM

Buster Posey had a perfect night at the dish, going 3-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Posey cranked a two-run home run off of Rubby De La Rosa in the first inning, then added two singles and a walk but was stranded all three times. Posey hit .311 with 22 home runs and 89 RBI last season and should have no problem continuing to rank among the best players in baseball again in 2015.
Apr 8 - 12:53 AM

Buster Posey's three-run blast in the first inning on Friday powered the Giants to a 4-0 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Posey had been battling a mild scapula injury in recent days, but appears to be fully healthy and ready to go for the start of the regular season. The three-run blast off Kendall Graveman was his first home run of the spring. Posey finished the night 1-for-4 and is now hitting .277 with eight RBI on the spring season.
Apr 4 - 1:47 AM

Buster Posey is dealing with a mild right scapula injury.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy called the injury "very mild." Posey was removed a few innings early in Wednesday's game and he'll play first base Thursday to get a bit of a rest, but it doesn't sound like anything too concerning.
Mar 25 - 7:04 PM

Buster Posey admitted Friday that he plans to catch at least 120 games for the Giants in 2014.

Posey's bat fell off as the Giants charged deeper into the playoffs in 2014, and the prevailing thought is that he wore down from the exhausting workload behind the plate. While he caught just 109 games during the regular season, Posey caught all but two of the team's 161 innings in the postseason. The 27-year-old backstop intends to hit the weights even harder this spring in an effort to stay strong throughout the season.

Buster Posey’s World Series struggles continued in Tuesday’s Game 6, as he went 0-for-3 before being pulled late in the blowout loss.

His second at-bat was a killer, as Yordano Ventura had walked three straight to load the bases, giving the Giants an opening to get back into the game. But Posey bailed him out, swinging at the first pitch and grounding weakly to shortstop. It’s probably a safe bet that Posey is wearing down after a long year, as he’s batting just .190 since the beginning of the NLCS and doesn’t have an extra-base hit the entire postseason.

Buster Posey had an RBI single and two walks in five plate appearances as the Giants cruised to an 11-4 win against the Royals in Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday.

The World Series is evened up at 2-2, so the two clubs will play Game 5 in San Francisco before heading back to Kansas City for Game 6 and potentially Game 7. Posey walked and scored the Giants' first run in the first inning, then reduced the Giants' deficit to 4-2 at the time with an RBI single in the third inning. Posey was intentionally walked in the sixth, then scored the first of three runs in the frame. Posey is batting only .188 (3-for-16) in the World Series and hasn't had an extra-base hit since doubling against the Padres on September 25. The Giants need him to get going if they want to have an easier time fending off the Royals.

Buster Posey went 0-for-4 with an RBI as the Giants dropped Game 3 of the World Series to the Royals in San Francisco on Friday.

Posey came to the plate in a huge situation in the sixth inning, with the potential tying runs in scoring position and just one out. While Posey was able to deliver an RBI with a ground out that pulled the Giants to within a run at 3-2, their scoring threat fizzled. The All-Star backstop is now hitting .268/.311/.268 with no homers and six RBI in the postseason.

Buster Posey went 2-for-3 with three RBI as the Giants came back to edge the Cardinals 6-4 in Wednesday's NLCS Game 4.

Posey was just 2-for-13 without an RBI in the NLCS coming into the game, but he remedied that with an RBI sacrifice fly in the first inning. He contributed an RBI single in the third inning and added another RBI with a single in the sixth to push the Giants' lead to two. Posey and the Giants hold a 3-1 series lead and are one game away from their third World Series appearance in five years with their ace, Madison Bumgarner, taking the mound Thursday.

Buster Posey clobbered his 22nd home run of the season as the Giants topped the Padres 9-3 in their regular season finale on Sunday.

He finished the afternoon 1-for-2. His two-run blast off Robbie Erlin got the Giants on the board in the first inning and they would never look back. He concludes another outstanding season hitting .311/.364/.490 with 22 homers and 89 RBI.

Buster Posey (back) will return to the Giants' starting lineup Sunday versus the Padres.

Posey missed Friday and Saturday's games with some soreness in his back. He is doing fine now, though, and the Giants want to get him some at-bats before the Wild Card Game. Posey holds a .310/.363/.484 batting line with 21 home runs and 87 RBI in 146 games this year.

Buster Posey underwent a precautionary MRI on his back on Friday.

Posey has been dealing with some soreness in his back in recent days. The MRI came back clean, though he's being given the day off on Friday to rest. He should be fully rested and ready to go for the start of the postseason next week.
