Buster Posey went 2-for-3 with three RBI as the Giants came back to edge the Cardinals 6-4 in Wednesday's NLCS Game 4.
Posey was just 2-for-13 without an RBI in the NLCS coming into the game, but he remedied that with an RBI sacrifice fly in the first inning. He contributed an RBI single in the third inning and added another RBI with a single in the sixth to push the Giants' lead to two. Posey and the Giants hold a 3-1 series lead and are one game away from their third World Series appearance in five years with their ace, Madison Bumgarner, taking the mound Thursday. Buster Posey clobbered his 22nd home run of the season as the Giants topped the Padres 9-3 in their regular season finale on Sunday.

He finished the afternoon 1-for-2. His two-run blast off Robbie Erlin got the Giants on the board in the first inning and they would never look back. He concludes another outstanding season hitting .311/.364/.490 with 22 homers and 89 RBI.

Buster Posey (back) will return to the Giants' starting lineup Sunday versus the Padres.

Posey missed Friday and Saturday's games with some soreness in his back. He is doing fine now, though, and the Giants want to get him some at-bats before the Wild Card Game. Posey holds a .310/.363/.484 batting line with 21 home runs and 87 RBI in 146 games this year.

Buster Posey underwent a precautionary MRI on his back on Friday.

Posey has been dealing with some soreness in his back in recent days. The MRI came back clean, though he's being given the day off on Friday to rest. He should be fully rested and ready to go for the start of the postseason next week.
Sep 26 - 7:30 PM

Buster Posey went 2-for-4 with a homer in the Giants' 2-1 win against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

If you're one of those owners with a meticulous nature, you may have known that Posey against Arizona starter Josh Collmenter was one of the best matchups on the board tonight. Long story short, it cashed, and Posey is now 11-for-18 (.611) with three home runs and a double lifetime against Collmenter. Posey also came into tonight batting .408 with 12 RBI in his last 13 games at Chase Field.
Sep 17 - 12:30 AM

Buster Posey went 1-for-4 with an RBI as the Giants fell to the Diamondbacks 6-2 on Monday.

He has hit safely in six straight. Posey has knocked in 27 of his 86 RBI in his last 23 games. He's been particularly hot in the season's final month, going 22-for-49 (.449) with two homers and 14 RBI in September. The catcher typically feasts on Rattler pitchers, coming into this one hitting .375 with 17 RBI in his last 18 against Arizona. He's slashing .311/.362/.488 with 20 homers.
Sep 16 - 12:45 AM

Buster Posey went 3-for-5 with an RBI as the Giants beat the Diamondbacks 6-2 on Thursday.

It would have been a four-hit day if not for a nice play in the eighth. Even so, Posey is hitting .472 in 36 at-bats this month and .371 with eight homers and 28 RBI in 143 at-bats since the beginning of August.
Sep 11 - 7:26 PM

Buster Posey finished 0-for-4 but still drove in a pair of runs in the Giants' 5-1 win against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

He grounded into an RBI fielder's choice in the second inning, and lifted a sacrifice fly to left in the sixth to score Angel Pagan. Posey adores Arizona pitching. Even though he didn't hit safely tonight, he came into this game batting .390 with three homers and 14 RBI in his last 15 games versus the Snakes. It wasn't a surprise he scratched out an RBI against Wade Miley, against whom he entered 9-for-20 with a homer and three doubles lifetime.
Sep 10 - 12:57 AM

Buster Posey went 3-for-3 and belted his 20th home run of the season as the Giants defeated the Tigers 5-4 on Saturday afternoon in Detroit.

Posey also drew a walk, reaching safely in each of his four plate appearances in the ballgame. His two-out single in the first inning started a four-run rally, and he tacked on the would-be winning run with a solo blast off David Price in the fifth inning. He's in the midst of another MVP-caliber season, slashing .310/.361/.494 with 20 long balls and 79 RBI.
Sep 6 - 4:25 PM

Buster Posey went 2-for-3 with two RBI in a loss to the Rockies on Wednesday.

Posey brought in a run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning before delivering an RBI single in the fifth. The two-hit day brought his average up to .305, the high-water mark for Posey since it was at .306 on May 11. Posey has been on an RBI binge in recent games -- he's got 17 RBI in his last nine games -- to bring his total up to 78 RBI on the year, seventh-most in the National League.
Sep 3 - 6:40 PM

Buster Posey went 5-for-5 with a triple, three RBI, and three runs scored as the Giants routed the Brewers on Friday.

It's the second five-hit game of Posey's career, and it continues the catcher's fantastic month of August. Since the beginning of the month, Posey is batting .350 (36-for-103). He singled in a run in the second inning and tripled in two more in the fifth. Posey owns a .297/.352/.472 slash line with 18 home runs and 71 RBI.
Aug 30 - 1:36 AM

Buster Posey hit a walk-off two-run homer in the ninth inning to send the Giants to a 4-2 victory over the Rockies on Wednesday.

It was his second career walk-off homer. The catcher finished 3-for-5 with three RBI. Posey hit his 16th and 17th home runs on Tuesday, and his 18th tonight -- he's one of many pro batters that practices gratitude for the existence of Rockies' pitchers. During his seven-game hitting streak, Posey is 15-for-31 (.484) with five homers and 10 RBI.
Aug 28 - 1:28 AM

Buster Posey belted his 16th and 17th home runs of the season and accounted for all of San Francisco's offense in Tuesday's 3-0 victory over the Rockies.

This was his second career multi-homer game (the other coming in 2010). Posey knocked in RBI 63 and 64 while taking Rockies' starter Jorge De La Rosa deep in the sixth inning, and got his 65th with an emphatic eighth inning homer off Brooks Brown. Posey might have gotten JDLR at less than full strength -- the hurler suffered a thumb contusion while batting in the top half of the frame -- but he certainly won't give it back (De La Rosa was immediately removed once Posey crossed home plate). Posey finished the game 2-for-4. The catcher is slashing .288/.346/.457.
Aug 27 - 12:57 AM

Buster Posey hit his fifteenth home run of the season and knocked in RBI 60 and 61 in Friday's win over the Nationals.

Posey finished the game 2-for-5. The home run came off of Nationals starter Doug Fister. Posey also added a double, his 22nd, off of reliever Ross Detwiler. On the season, Posey is slashing .284/.345/.438. He's hit fifteen home runs and batted in 61.
Aug 23 - 12:05 AM

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said moving Buster Posey to first base isn't being discussed right now.

"Right now, no," Bochy said. "Down the road, sure, that’s something we will talk about. It could lighten the load on Buster. Whether at some point down the road he will get out from behind the plate, I can’t answer that. Right now it’s not discussed." Posey has been bothered by a hip issue recently, and catching certainly isn't helping the matter. Still, having a catcher with Posey's bat is incredibly valuable, and the Giants appear ready to leave him there for the time being. Bochy did say that if and when Posey does move it will be to first and not to third base, as some have wondered. But for now, neither move is on the horizon.
