Angels optioned INF/OF Jefry Marte to Triple-A Salt Lake.

The move clears space on the roster for the return of C.J. Cron. Marte could be back shortly if Yunel Escobar (hamstring) needs a disabled list stint, but right now the Angels don't think that will be the case.
May 14 - 1:51 PM

Jefry Marte went 1-for-4 with a double in Wednesday's loss to the A's.

The double was Marte's fourth of the season. He has largely struggled through the first month-plus of the campaign, hitting just .175/.254/.333 with two homers and eight RBI over the course of 63 at-bats.
May 10 - 7:19 PM

Jefry Marte posted a walk with a sacrifice fly in Tuesday's game in Seattle before being lifted for a pinch hitter midway through the outing.

Marte hasn't done much at the dish, posting a dismal .173 average. He was removed in favor of Luis Valbuena (hamstring), who was activated from the 10-day disabled list to make his season debut. Now that Valbuena is back the at-bats will be hard to come by for Marte.
May 3 - 2:51 AM

Jefry Marte went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in the Angels' defeat of the Rangers on Sunday.

Marte smacked a go-ahead two-run single in the fifth inning and then slugged a solo homer off Sam Dyson in the ninth. He's batting .176/.250/.333 with two home runs and seven RBI in 16 games this season.
Apr 30 - 7:05 PM

Jefry Marte went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and a hit-by-pitch Friday against the Royals.

Not surprisingly, Marte was in the lineup over C.J. Cron against the left-hander Danny Duffy. However, it’s worth noting that Marte also started at first base against Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish on Thursday. Marte proved to be a nice surprise for the Angels last season, putting up 15 homers and a .791 OPS over 88 games, but the Angels’ handling of Cron continues to be confusing.
Apr 15 - 12:23 AM

Jefry Marte went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI as the Angels fell to the Royals in Cactus League play on Sunday.

Marte's bases-clearing double off Jason Hammel capped off a six-run fifth inning but wouldn't be enough to lead the Angels to victory. Marte has done a nice job at the dish this spring, hitting .300 with three homers and 13 RBI. He'll open the season in a reserve role for the Halos.
Mar 26 - 8:35 PM

Jefry Marte went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored Friday against the Rangers.

The 25-year-old Marte surprised last season by slugging 15 homers with a .790 OPS over 88 games and has kept it going by hitting .300/.429/.500 with two homers and seven RBI through 16 games this spring. Unfortunately, there’s just not a spot in the Angels’ lineup at this time. He’s someone to watch in the event of an injury, though.
Mar 17 - 8:33 PM

Jefry Marte finished 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Monday’s loss to the Cubs.

Marte got the Angels on the board in the second inning with his second homer in as many days and drove in another run with a single in the third. The Angels had the early lead in this one before the Cubs pulled away for good in the fourth. Marte surprised with 15 homers and a .790 OPS over 88 games with the Angels last season, but there’s no clear path to playing time to begin 2017. While it’s hardly his fault, he could be a candidate to begin the year in the minors.
Mar 6 - 8:42 PM

Jefry Marte went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Tuesday's 8-1 win over the A's

Marte stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and nobody out in the fourth inning. Facing off against Daniel Mengden, he proceeded to launch a 405-foot bomb to dead central to jump the Angels to a 5-0 lead. That was more than enough for a game Ricky Nolasco. In addition to the granny, Marte also picked up a double. He has done a nice job in a complementary role this season, hitting .251/.307/.461 with 13 homers and 42 RBI over 243 at-bats.

Jefry Marte went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and three total RBI in Sunday's win over the Tigers.

Marte launched a two-run home run off Anibal Sanchez in the fifth inning and came through with a sacrifice fly just one frame later. He just returned to the Angels on Friday after being away from the team to handle a personal matter earlier in the week. For the season, the 25-year-old first baseman is working to a .243/.286/.453 triple-slash with 10 homers and 30 RBI over 181 at-bats.

Jefry Marte (personal) will join the Angels Friday in Detroit.

Marte missed the club's series against the Blue Jays while tending to a personal matter. The 25-year-old has been a jack of all trades this season, splitting time between left field and both corner infield spots. He's hit a little bit too with nine homers and 27 RBI over 176 at-bats for the Halos.

Jefry Marte (shoulder) slugged a solo homer Tuesday in the Angels' win over the Mariners.

Marte was forced from Sunday's series finale against the Indians after being hit by a pitch on the shoulder and he sat out Monday's series opener in Anaheim. But all is well now, health-wise. The 25-year-old is batting .245/.295/.460 with nine home runs and 25 RBI in 58 games this season with the Angels.

Jefry Marte was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Indians after being hit by a pitch on the shoulder.

He went for precautionary X-rays which came back negative and is listed as day-to-day. Look for him to return to the Angels lineup early in the week.
