Jefry Marte belted his fourth home run of the season in a losing effort against the White Sox on Friday night in Chicago.
His second-inning blast gave the Tigers an early 1-0 lead, but that would wind up being the extent of their offense against Chris Sale and company. Marte has flashed a bit of pop but not much else in his limited time with the big league club, slashing .221/.286/.429 with four homers and 11 RBI. Oct 2 - 10:51 PM

Jefry Marte went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Royals.

Marte was one of the only Tigers hitters able to get to Royals starter Yordano Ventura and the bullpen. He doubled to lead off the seventh and came around to score the Tigers' lone run of the game. The first baseman is hitting .289/.347/.578 with three homers and seven RBI in Miguel Cabrera's stead.

Jefry Marte went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI as the Tigers edged the Mariners 5-4 on Wednesday.

The homer, a solo shot in the fourth inning, was the first of Marte's young career. He also had an RBI double and scored a run earlier in the contest. The start at first base was Marte's first since being promoted on July 4 but it likely won't be his last with Miguel Cabrera sidelined. He has decent pop and is an AL-only consideration while Miggy is out.

Tigers purchased the contract of INF Jefry Marte from Triple-A Toledo.

The 24-year-old has played primarily at third base for the Mud Hens this season, though he has appeared in a few contests at first base in the past few seasons. It's unclear exactly how he'll be utilized, but there's a good chance his bat is in the lineup most nights while Miguel Cabrera is sidelined. Marte was slashing .271/.337/.497 with 13 homers and 55 RBI in 77 games at Triple-A.

Tigers prospect Jefry Marte leads the International League with 11 RBI through his first six games.

Six of those ribbies came in Toldeo's season-opening win over Louisville on Thursday. Marte hits cleanup for the Mud Hens, which should lead to plenty of RBI opportunities. The 23-year-old is knocking on the door to the big leagues, though he may not get a chance unless Nick Castellanos gets hurt.

Tigers signed INF Jefry Marte to a minor league contract.

The 23-year-old spent the 2014 season in the A's organization where he slashed .259/.333/.375 with 10 homers and 53 RBI over 107 contests at Double-A Midland while playing primarily at third base. He'll provide much needed depth in the Tigers minor league system.

Athletics acquired INF Jefry Marte from the Mets for OF Collin Cowgill.

Marte, 21, hit .251/.322/.366 in 513 plate appearances at the Double-A level last season. He's mostly just a flier to get Cowgill off their 40-man roster. Baseball America did not include him among the Mets' Top 30 prospects.

Mets third base prospect Jefry Marte suffered a broken left wrist while playing in the Arizona Fall League.

The injury will require surgery, but it is not expected to impact his availability for spring training. Marte, 20, batted .248/.313/.346 with seven homers, 55 RBI, 14 stolen bases and a .659 OPS over 537 plate appearances this season with High-A St. Lucie.
