Jhoulys Chacin allowed two runs on six hits over 8 2/3 innings in Sunday's win over the Phillies.
Chacin finished one out away from a complete game in easily his best start of the season. He aggressively attacked the strike zone and the Phillies didn't advance a baserunner past first base on him until the ninth inning. It was a much needed return to form, as Chacin had been struggling over his last seven starts since coming off the DL. He now has a 4.26 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. Jun 16 - 8:25 PM

Date:

Jhoulys Chacin had a rough go of it against the Padres on Thursday, allowing five runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings.

Chacin also issued a pair of walks and fanned four in the game. He cruised through the first three innings unscathed, but the Padres erupted for four runs in the fourth inning, and tacked on a fifth before he departed in the sixth inning. He’s been absolutely brutal over his past seven starts, posting a 6.43 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. He’ll attempt to right the ship on Wednesday when he squares off against the Nationals at home.
Jun 7 - 12:50 AM

Jhoulys Chacin surrendered five runs in six innings Saturday in a no-decision versus the Dodgers.

Chacin, who opened the season 3-0 with a 1.46 ERA in four starts, is winless in six starts since coming off the DL last month. He did have a nice outing last time out, striking out nine Astros in seven strong innings, but he hasn't been quite the same since hurting his back. Mixed leaguers may want to look elsewhere.
Jun 1 - 8:16 PM

Jhoulys Chacin struck out nine while allowing two runs in seven innings Monday against the Astros.

Unfortunately, Chacin went winless in a fifth straight start, as the Rockies never could score a third run. It was Chacin's eighth straight outing without surrendering a homer. He has another favorable matchup against the Dodgers next time out.
May 27 - 7:07 PM

Jhoulys Chacin surrendered eight runs in 5 1/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Giants.

Chacin faced one over the minimum through three before suddenly giving up five runs in the fourth. He then bounced back with a perfect fourth, but he allowed three singles and a sac fly in the fifth and was removed. Both inherited runners came around to score off Adam Ottavino. If only Chacin could have spaced out those singles a little better tonight, he might have come away with a win.
May 17 - 12:01 AM

Jhoulys Chacin allowed two runs in five innings Saturday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Chacin danced around trouble for most of the afternoon, as he allowed eight hits and three walks, so he was fortunate to walk away with only two runs scoring. He hasn't been nearly as sharp since returning from a lower back strain, but he still has a 2.70 ERA for the year. He'll look to bounce back next week against the Giants at home.
May 11 - 5:11 PM

Jhoulys Chacin allowed five runs on eight hits and three walks over seven innings in Sunday's loss to the Rays.

It was Chacin's first outing since being placed on the DL last month. He got off to a poor start with a three-run frame in the first but pitched pretty well after that. Had he not been coming off an injury, Chacin might have been able to throw a complete game, but the Rockies took him out after just 85 pitches. Chacin has a 2.56 ERA in five starts this season.
May 5 - 8:31 PM

Rockies activated RHP Jhoulys Chacin from the 15-day disabled list.

Chacin missed the minimum amount of time with a lower back strain and will start on Sunday versus the Rays. He returns to a 3-0 record, 1.46 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 16/6 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings.
May 5 - 2:07 PM

Jhoulys Chacin (back) is on track to be activated from the disabled list to start Sunday against the Rays.

Chacin made it through his bullpen sessions and a minor league rehab start without any issues. He's been tremendous through his first four starts, posting a 3-0 record, 1.46 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 16/6 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings. He should be owned in most mixed fantasy leagues.

May 3 - 7:11 PM

Jhoulys Chacin (back) threw a successful bullpen session on Saturday and remains on track to return to the Rockies' starting rotation on May 5.

Chacin will make a minor league rehab start on March 30, and if all goes well he'll slide back into his regular spot in the Colorado rotation on May 5 to take on the Rays at home. He's been terrific through his first four starts this season, boasting a 3-0 record with a 1.46 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 16/6 K/BB ratio in 24 2/3 innings.
Apr 27 - 6:18 PM

Jhoulys Chacin (back) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday.

Chacin played catch at 120 feet on Thursday with no issues. If Saturday's bullpen session goes off without a hitch, Chacin should make one rehab appearance before rejoining the Rockies' rotation on May 5, the first day he's eligible.

Apr 26 - 9:49 AM

Jhoulys Chacin (back) expects to be activated from the disabled list when first eligible on May 5.

An MRI has confirmed that Chacin has a mild back strain, but the pitcher thinks he'll be fine with exercise and flexibility work. Assuming he doesn't have a setback, he'll make a rehab start on April 30 before rejoining the Rockies' rotation on May 5. Tyler Chatwood is filling Chacin's spot in the rotation.
Apr 23 - 6:27 PM

Rockies placed RHP Jhoulys Chacin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 20, with a lower back strain.

Chacin was already going to have to miss his next start due to the injury, and this means he will miss at least one more as well. Rob Scahill was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take his roster spot.
Apr 21 - 3:50 PM

Jhoulys Chacin will miss his next scheduled start and maybe more with a sore left oblique.

A trip to the 15-day disabled list seems like a certainty at this point. It's unfortunate, as Chacin was enjoying a strong start to the season, going 3-0 with a 1.46 ERA over his first four outings. Tyler Chatwood would likely be called up to take his place on the Colorado roster.
Apr 21 - 1:21 PM

Jhoulys Chacin was sent for an MRI on his sore left oblique.

Chacin was removed from Friday's game in the seventh inning and is likely headed to the disabled list. If Chacin requires a prolonged absence, Drew Pomeranz is a candidate to replace him in the starting rotation. The Rockies won't need to add a fifth starter until Wednesday's game against the Braves.
