Jhoulys Chacin pitched well in Wednesday's victory over the White Sox allowing three unearned runs on four hits over his 4 2/3 innings.
The right-hander racked up three strikeouts on the afternoon while walking just one. He's the owner of a minuscule 0.83 ERA in Cactus League action and locked into a spot in the team's Opening Day rotation after inking a two-year, $15.5 million deal over the winter. Mar 14 - 8:38 PM

Jhoulys Chacin struggled against the Indians on Sunday, giving up three runs and two walks in 2 1/3 innings in the Cactus League.

Only one of those runs was earned, a solo homer by the red-hot Jason Kipnis in the first inning. Signed a two-year, $15.5 million contract in December, the 31-year-old right-hander is expected to pitch in the middle of the Milwaukee rotation in the 2018 season. The lack of control will never inspire, but he might miss enough bats and pick up enough wins to be a fantasy contributor in 2018.

Jhoulys Chacin gave up a pair of hits over two scoreless innings Wednesday in the Brewers’ Cactus League tie with San Francisco.

Chacin survived a two-hit first inning thanks to a pair of base-running mistakes by Steven Duggar and Brandon Crawford, who were both caught stealing. The right-hander logged three strikeouts before exiting and has yet to allow a run in three innings this spring. The Brewers are Chacin’s sixth team in the last five seasons.

Brewers signed RHP Jhoulys Chacin to a two-year, $15.5 million contract.

The deal was agreed upon Wednesday and finalized Thursday. Chacin posted a cool 3.89 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 180 1/3 innings this past season with the Padres, though his numbers at Petco Park were demonstrably better than his numbers everywhere else and he'll likely struggle to replicate his 2017 success with the move to Milwaukee's far more power-friendly home stadium. The 29-year-old right-hander is not a strong fantasy bet for 2018.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Brewers are close to an agreement with free agent right-hander Jhoulys Chacin.

Chacin posted good overall numbers with the Padres in 2017, but his home-road splits don't paint a pretty picture for what the Brewers might be getting here. The 29-year-old right-hander had a 1.79 ERA in 16 starts at Petco Park and a 6.53 ERA in 16 starts everywhere else. Milwaukee's Miller Park is not so kind on pitchers. Jerry Crasnick of ESPN says Chacin's deal with the Brewers will be for two years and carry a total guarantee of around $16 million.

Padres general manager A.J. Preller said Monday that he is in constant communication with Jhoulys Chacin's representatives.

The Padres would like to re-sign Chacin after he posted a solid 3.89 ERA across 32 starts in 2017 and are reportedly willing to give him a multi-year contract. Nothing is imminent, though, and Chacin will surely have multiple suitors. The right-hander will turn 30 next month.

The Padres are showing interest in retaining free agents Jhoulys Chacin and Craig Stammen and could be open to two-year deals.

The Padres already gave free-agent-to-be Clayton Richard a two-year deal in September. They would expect a bit of a discount on a multiyear deal for Jhoulys and/or Stammen, but that might work out if either veteran is looking for some stability. Chacin, coming off his best season since 2013, has pitched for four teams in three years since getting let go by the Rockies. There should be a fair amount of interest in him as a fourth or fifth starter, but most suitors will only want to go one year.

Jhoulys Chacin held the Giants to one run through six innings but did not factor into the decision on Saturday.

He surrendered a run in the first inning and then hung zeroes the rest of the way. He allowed five hits -- all singles -- and two walks while notching six strikeouts. This was a rare good start on the road for Chacin, who had a 6.93 away ERA compared to a 1.79 home ERA for the season prior to today's game. He ends the 2017 campaign with a 13-10 record and 3.89 ERA in 32 starts.

Jhoulys Chacin allowed just one hit and three walks with six strikeouts over six scoreless innings in a win against the Rockies on Saturday.

Chacin has won back-to-back decisions, and his 13 victories is just one short of the mark he set in 2013 as a member of the Colorado Rockies, and his 3.98 ERA is his best output since he posted a 3.38 ERA in 2015 as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks. His final start of the 2017 season will come Saturday in San Francisco.

Jhoulys Chacin was ineffective in Sunday's no-decision against the Rockies, allowing three runs on five hits across 4 1/3 innings.

The right-hander struck out four and walked two in the ballgame. All of the damage came in the fourth inning, the major blow being a two-run double by Trevor Story. He'll bring a 4.12 ERA and 1.30 WHIP into his penultimate start of the season on Saturday against the Rockies.

Jhoulys Chacin allowed four earned runs, seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision Saturday in Arizona.

Chacin threw just 59 of his 100 pitches for strikes in the mediocre effort. He has just one victory over his past four decisions spanning seven starts. Despite the lack of wins, he has been pitching rather consistently, as his ERA has risen from 3.99 to just 4.06 during the stretch.

Jhoulys Chacin delivered an impressive performance in Sunday's win over the Dodgers, allowin three runs (two earned) on five hits over seven strong innings.

Chacin punched out eight on the afternoon and didn't walk a batter. The bulk of the damage against him came in the fourth inning where Chris Taylor swatted a solo home run and Justin Turner tacked on an RBI double. Now 12-10 on the season, Chacin sports a 3.96 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 132/63 K/BB ratio across 159 innings. He'll look to extend his winning streak on Friday against the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

Jhoulys Chacin gave up five runs -- four earned -- in 4 2/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Chacin remains a candidate to be traded, but he didn't help the cause tonight. Well, unless the cause is to remain in sunny San Diego for the rest of the year. He's 11-9 with a 4.10 ERA.

Jhoulys Chacin was unable to find the plate in Thursday's loss to the Nationals, walking four while allowing one run over five innings.

Chacin surrendered just three hits and one run -- on an Adam Lind sacrifice fly in the third inning -- but control issues forced him to an early exit after five innings. He threw just 63 of his 104 pitches for strikes. Chacin has walked four batters in each of his last two starts and has handed out at least three free passes in six of his last 10 outings. He will carry a 3.98 ERA and 1.28 WHIP into a road showdown with the Cardinals next time he toes the rubber.

Jhoulys Chacin allowed one earned run, four hits and four walks with three strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision Saturday on the road against the Dodgers.

Chacin's five innings tied his lowest over his past 13 starts dating back to May 28. Part of the problem has been walks lately, as he has issued 22 walks over his past 46 2/3 innings. He also hasn't been very good on the road, going 4-6 with a 6.90 ERA over 12 road outings. However, Chacin is 7-2 with a 1.86 ERA through 12 outings at home. He'll be back at Petco Park on Thursday against the Nationals.
