The Diamondbacks announced Friday that they'll skip Jhoulys Chacin's start on Sunday.

Rookie right-hander Zack Godley will start in his place. Chacin has done a nice job in his limited action with the D'Backs, posting a 3.04 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 17/9 K/BB ratio over 24 1/3 innings. It's unclear if he'll get a chance to make another start before season's end.
Sep 25 - 9:15 PM

Jhoulys Chacin won on Monday against the Dodgers, allowing two runs over six innings.

Chacin fell behind 2-0 after the first inning when Adrian Gonzalez hit a solo home run and Corey Seager hit an RBI double, but he'd settle down quickly. He gave up six hits overall and walked four while striking out three. The win is his first since June of last season. This year, in four starts, Chacin has a 3.04 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP and a 17/9 K/BB ratio in 24 1/3 innings. He'll face the Padres in a road start next.
Sep 22 - 1:34 AM

Jhoulys Chacin went five innings and gave up two runs in a no-decision as the Diamondbacks beat the Padres on Tuesday.

Chacin allowed a solo home run to Justin Upton in the second inning, and the Padres pushed across another run in the third on a ground ball double play. The right-hander, overall, gave up four hits and two walks while striking out three. He's pitched well in three starts, carrying a 2.95 ERA with a 1.09 WHIP and a 14/5 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 innings. Chacin will take the hill in L.A. against the Dodgers next.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Jhoulys Chacin from Triple-A Reno.

Chacin was solid in two spot-starts with the Diamondbacks late last month. He could make another couple of starts down the stretch.
Sep 8 - 4:09 PM

Diamondbacks optioned Jhoulys Chacin to Triple-A Reno.

Chacin allowed two runs over seven innings Saturday in a no-decision against the A's. He should be back soon.
Aug 29 - 11:15 PM

Jhoulys Chacin pitched well but lost in his 2015 debut on Monday, giving up three runs (two earned) in 6 1/3 innings versus the Cardinals.

Chacin hadn't pitched since June 28 last season. He spent the 2015 season at Triple-A in the Indians' and Diamondbacks' organization before Arizona promoted him on Monday. He gave up six hits and a walk while striking out five. Chacin is likely to remain in the rotation until Jeremy Hellickson (hamstring) is healthy, so he's on track to start against the Athletics at home over the weekend.
Aug 25 - 1:49 AM

Diamondbacks purchased the contract of RHP Jhoulys Chacin from Triple-A Reno.

Chacin will start on Monday versus the Cardinals, giving Robbie Ray an extra day between starts. The former Rockie has spent all of 2015 at the Triple-A level with the Indians and D'Backs, posting a 3.33 ERA with just 86 strikeouts over 121 2/3 innings. Chacin should remain in the rotation until Jeremy Hellickson (hamstring) is ready to return.
Aug 24 - 5:27 PM

Diamondbacks signed RHP Jhoulys Chacin to a minor league contract.

Chacin found work quickly after opting out of his minor league contract with the Indians on Thursday. The 27-year-old hurler compiled a 3.21 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 25/15 K/BB ratio over 42 innings with Triple-A Columbus. He can opt out of his deal with the Diamondbacks if he isn't on the big league roster before July 5.
Jun 19 - 11:45 PM

Indians released RHP Jhoulys Chacin.

Chacin exercised the opt-out in his minor league contract with Cleveland and will now search for a better opportunity with a new organization. The 27-year-old right-hander had registered a promising 3.21 ERA and 1.286 WHIP across 42 innings at Triple-A Columbus.
Jun 18 - 12:21 PM

Indians signed RHP Jhoulys Chacin to a minor league contract.

Chacin was let go by the Rockies toward the end of spring training, but we figured it wouldn't be long before he would find a new home. The 27-year-old right-hander was limited to just 63 1/3 innings last season due to a rotator cuff injury, so the Indians can't count on much from him, but he's a worthy flier at these terms.
Apr 14 - 1:26 PM

Chris Cotillo of reports that six teams "have called with interest" in Jhoulys Chacin.

Cotillo adds that Chacin is expected to sign in the "near future." Chacin was terrible last season while battling shoulder issues and bad again this spring, which led to the Rockies releasing him on Sunday. Still, he's flashed plenty of promise in the past and is just 27, so he's worth a gamble for some team in need of rotation depth.
Mar 23 - 11:11 PM

Rockies released RHP Jhoulys Chacin.

It comes as a big surprise, as the 27-year-old right-hander had been expected to open the season as the second starter in the Rockies' rotation behind Jorge De La Rosa. Chacin clearly isn't at full strength, though, following the rotator cuff injury that ended his 2014 season prematurely. He posted a troublesome 1-7 record and 5.40 ERA over 63 1/3 innings in 2014 and wasn't much better in Cactus League play, with a 6.52 ERA and 2.07 WHIP in 9 2/3 frames. He'll attempt to latch on elsewhere.
Mar 22 - 4:09 PM

Jhoulys Chacin struggled in Saturday's start against the Dodgers, yielding four runs over three innings.

Chacin allowed seven hits -- including a home run to Andre Ethier -- while walking two and striking out two. He's now given up seven runs in 9 2/3 innings this spring. The right-hander, returning from a rotator cuff injury which shortened his 2014 season, will slot behind the currently-injured Jorge De La Rosa in the rotation.
Mar 21 - 7:10 PM

Jhoulys Chacin surrendered two runs on two hits and a walk over 1 2/3 innings versus the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

The right-hander struck out one in the effort. Chacin is looking for a bounce-back 2015 season after being limited to just 11 starts last year due to rotator cuff issues. He reported to camp feeling totally healthy.
