Angels acquired 3B Conor Gillaspie from the White Sox in exchange for cash considerations.

Gillaspie had been designated for assignment last weekend after hitting just .237/.276/.364 this season. Although he's been a disappointment in 2015, Gillaspie isn't a bad option to fill in for the injured David Freese (finger) for the next few weeks at third base.

White Sox designated 3B Conor Gillaspie for assignment.

Gillaspie has had an awful season, batting just .237/.276/.364, and has been on the bench mostly of late with the White Sox going with Tyler Saladino and Gordon Beckham at third base. It's possible he'll draw some interest on waivers from a team in need of corner infield help, but Gillaspie really isn't starting material.
Jul 19 - 10:59 AM

Conor Gillaspie is not in the White Sox starting lineup on Saturday.

Tyler Saladino is once again getting a start at the hot corner and will bat second against Jeremy Guthrie and the Royals. Gillaspie has been a major disappointment this season, slashing just .237/.276/.364 with three homers and 15 RBI in 58 contests.
Jul 18 - 12:31 PM

Conor Gillaspie (foot) will start the second half of Thursday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

Gillaspie was held out of action Monday-Wednesday in Toronto for fear that the Rogers Centre turf would aggravate his lingering plantar fasciitis. Gordon Beckham is at third base for the White Sox in the first game Thursday at Camden Yards, but Gillaspie will man the hot corner in the nightcap.
May 28 - 11:33 AM

Conor Gillaspie is expected back in the White Sox' lineup Thursday.

Gillaspie didn't start any of the team's games in Toronto for fear of the turf's effect on his plantar fasciitis. There doesn't appear to be any recurrence, though, so he should be fine moving forward.
May 27 - 7:19 PM

Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-4 with a homer against the Indians on Wednesday.

Home run power isn't a part of Gillaspie's game -- he has two this year after hitting seven last season -- but he's gotten the bat going these last couple of weeks. He's at .341 in 41 at-bats in May after hitting .196 in 51 at-bats in April.
May 20 - 11:43 PM

Conor Gillaspie sat out on Thursday and Friday due to plantar fasciitis.

It has been an ongoing issue for Gillaspie throughout the young season, and White Sox manager Robin Ventura will continue to rest him on occasion to keep him fresh. He's hitting .242/.288/.419 with one homer and seven RBI in 20 games on the season.
May 8 - 9:07 PM

Conor Gillaspie is not in the White Sox starting lineup Thursday afternoon versus the Tigers.

It's just a day of maintenance for Gillaspie, who's batting .242/.288/.419 with one home run and seven RBI in 20 games played this year. Gordon Beckham is starting at third base in Thursday's matinee with Detroit.
May 7 - 11:02 AM

Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-3 with a two-run triple in Tuesday's win over the Tigers.

Gillaspie's triple was his first of the season after hitting five last year. Multi-hits have been hard to come by for Gillaspie this year, as Tuesday's was just his second overall and his first since April 11. His struggles have led to a .237/.274/.373 line thus far.
May 5 - 11:24 PM

Conor Gillaspie went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Thursday, dropping his average to .195.

Gillaspie was a nice platoon player for the White Sox last season, but he's yet to get it going this year, with just two RBI and two walks to go along with his subpar average. Maybe it has something to do with the plantar fasciitis he was diagnosed with this spring. If he continues to slump, the White Sox could give more time at third base to Gordon Beckham.
Apr 24 - 12:41 AM

White Sox manager Robin Ventura admitted Tuesday that Conor Gillaspie has been battling plantar fascitis throughout spring training.

The issue could be partially to blame for Gillaspie's struggles in Cactus League play, as he's hitting just .242/.265/.303 with no homers and two RBI. While the issue hasn't been serious enough to cause him to miss time, it is making his regular baseball activities much more painful.

Mar 24 - 6:26 PM

Conor Gillaspie bulked up over the offseason and quit chewing tobacco in an effort to get stronger and help get through the grind of the long season.

Gillaspie added 15-20 pounds of muscle to prevent the late-season swoon that he endured in 2014, where he slashed just .208/.259/.333 with three homers over his final 47 contests. He's expected to bat sixth in a much-improved White Sox lineup, which should provide plenty of RBI chances.

Feb 28 - 12:10 PM

Conor Gillaspie had a forgettable night at the plate in a win over the Rays on Friday, going hitless in five at-bats and leaving seven men stranded.

Hitting in the cleanup spot in manager Robin Ventura's lineup, he needs to do a much better job capitalizing in run-producing situations. He's enjoying a nice season overall though, hitting .287/.339/.424 with seven homers and 57 RBI.

Conor Gillaspie hit a three-run triple in the seventh inning, and the White Sox held on to beat the Royals 7-5 on Tuesday.

With one out and runners on the corners, the Royals opted to walk Jose Abreu to bring up Gillaspie. The 27-year-old made them pay for that decision, ripping a triple into the gap to clear the bases and give the White Sox the lead. The triple was surprisingly his fifth of the season, giving him 57 RBI. Gillaspie finished 2-for-5 in the game to raise his season line to a strong .293/.345/.433.
