Conor Gillaspie had a forgettable night at the plate in a win over the Rays on Friday, going hitless in five at-bats and leaving seven men stranded.
Hitting in the cleanup spot in manager Robin Ventura's lineup, he needs to do a much better job capitalizing in run-producing situations. He's enjoying a nice season overall though, hitting .287/.339/.424 with seven homers and 57 RBI. Sep 19 - 11:01 PM

Conor Gillaspie hit a three-run triple in the seventh inning, and the White Sox held on to beat the Royals 7-5 on Tuesday.

With one out and runners on the corners, the Royals opted to walk Jose Abreu to bring up Gillaspie. The 27-year-old made them pay for that decision, ripping a triple into the gap to clear the bases and give the White Sox the lead. The triple was surprisingly his fifth of the season, giving him 57 RBI. Gillaspie finished 2-for-5 in the game to raise his season line to a strong .293/.345/.433.

Conor Gillaspie went hitless in Friday's loss to the Tigers, finishing 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.

Gillaspie has swung a productive bat for the White Sox this season, slashing .302/.355/.444 with six homers and 48 RBI in 394 at-bats. There have been talks of utilizing him more in the outfield in an effort to keep his bat in the lineup on an everyday basis.
Aug 29 - 11:44 PM

The White Sox are considering giving Conor Gillaspie some playing time in the outfield.

The idea is geared more towards next season as the Sox try to find out how versatile Gillaspie can be. The 27-year-old sports a nice .309/.360/.451 batting line as the club's starting third baseman next season, but the Pale Hose would be better off in the long haul if they're not counting on Gillaspie to be more than a backup. "I will,’’ Gillaspie said when asked about if he'd be willing to play the outfield. "I’m sure I could get the hang of it. If not this year, then for sure in the spring. Whatever it is they want me to do. If it means I can stay here and play, I’ll do whatever they ask.’’
Aug 20 - 9:11 AM

Conor Gillaspie walked and hit a grand slam in four trips to the plate as the White Sox held on to defeat the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Gillaspie smoked a grand slam off of Drew Hutchison in the first inning, providing the first four runs in what turned out to be a six-run frame. Gillaspie has been a good find for the White Sox, as he has five home runs, 46 RBI, and an impressive .311/.363/.456 slash line on the season.
Aug 17 - 5:34 PM

Conor Gillaspie singled three times in five at-bats, scoring once and driving in a run, as the White Sox enjoyed an easy 11-4 victory over the Tigers on Tuesday.

It's Gillaspie's fourth multi-hit game in his last five games. The third baseman has done nothing but hit all season, enjoying a .327/.379/.467 slash line with four home runs and 38 RBI.
Jul 29 - 10:51 PM

Conor Gillaspie had another nice game Wednesday against the Red Sox, delivering his third homer and his 21st double of the season.

It's bizarre how Gillaspie has gone from hitting third at the beginning of the year, when he seemed like a pretty lousy bet, to sixth now, even though he's batting .320. He didn't have a homer until July, but now he has three in seven games. Maybe it'll get him moved back up in the order.
Jul 9 - 10:18 PM

Conor Gillaspie singled, doubled, and belted a two-run home run as the White Sox defeated the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Gillaspie missed Monday's game with a sore knee, but returned with a vengeance on Tuesday. The 26-year-old doubled and scored in the fourth, then went yard for a two-run home run in the sixth inning, breaking a 3-3 tie. Gillaspie has been a nice surprise for the White Sox, as he is slashing .317/.367/.449 with two home runs and 32 RBI.
Jul 8 - 10:30 PM

Conor Gillaspie (knee) is hoping to return to the lineup Tuesday.

Gillaspie isn't playing Monday after exiting Sunday's contest when he was hit on the right knee by a pitch. X-rays came back negative, but he remains sore. "It's not pleasant," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Monday. "Hopefully, by tomorrow he should be fine. By the miracle of [White Sox head athletic trainer] Herm [Schneider], he might be able to pinch-hit tonight. He probably could. I don't know if he'd stay in there, but he might be able to pinch-hit."
Jul 7 - 8:42 PM

Conor Gillaspie was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Mariners with a bruised right knee.

Gillaspie was drilled by a pitch and appeared to be in obvious pain as he was helped off the field. While he should avoid the DL, it wouldn't be surprising to see him rest a game or two before returning.
Jul 6 - 4:02 PM

Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the season in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Angels.

Gillaspie hit the two-run shot off Jered Weaver in the second inning, and he later added an RBI single and a run scored as well. For as good as Gillaspie has been this year -- he's batting .317/.360/.432 in 60 games -- the lack of power has made him difficult to start in most standard mixed leagues. Perhaps now that he's got one under his belt the next one will come in fewer than 227 at-bats.
Jul 2 - 12:21 AM

Conor Gillaspie is not in the White Sox starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals.

After a rough night at the dish on Friday, Gillaspie will take a seat against opposing southpaw Danny Duffy. Leury Garcia will draw the start at third base in his place and bat ninth for the White Sox.
Jun 14 - 11:05 AM

Conor Gillaspie had a night to forget in Friday's loss to the Royals, going 0-for-4 and leaving seven men stranded on base.

He came to the plate with two men on and no outs in the first inning and couldn't get anything done, then flew out to center field with the bases loaded his next time up and the White Sox trailing 6-2. Everyone is allowed to have an off night and even with the hitless effort, Gillaspie is slashing a tremendous .331/.380/.434 on the season.
Jun 13 - 11:51 PM

Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored Friday in a loss to the Padres.

He's not slowing down. Gillaspie has hit safely in six straight games and now owns a surprising .356/.397/.470 batting line through 35 games. His .400-plus BABIP has certainly helped matters, but the 26-year-old has been an excellent find for the White Sox.
May 30 - 11:35 PM

Conor Gillaspie stayed hot Monday against the Indians, as he went 4-for-4 with three doubles, an RBI, and two runs scored.

The four hits were a career-high. Gillaspie has hit safely in 11 out of his last 12 games and is now hitting .352 through 32 games. The 26-year-old has yet to hit a homer this season, but he's worth a look in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.
