Giants placed 3B Conor Gillaspie on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 26, with back spasms.

Gillaspie just returned last week from a six-week absence with back issues, but obviously he's still not healthy. It's unclear how long he'll be out this time around.

Conor Gillaspie (back) will be placed on the disabled list prior to Wednesday's game.

Gillaspie just returned last week from a six-week absence with a back issue and he's apparently still not 100 percent. Jae-gyun Hwang will replace him on the roster.

Giants activated INF Conor Gillaspie from the 10-day disabled list.

Gillaspie is starting at the hot corner and batting second for the Giants on Friday. Before landing on the DL with back spasms, he was hitting just .133/.216/.156 in his first 45 at-bats.

Conor Gillaspie (back) underwent an MRI on Saturday after suffering a setback during his minor league rehab assignment.

Gillaspie hasn't played since aggravating his back injury Tuesday in a rehab game for Triple-A Sacramento. His MRI results will determine the next step in his recovery process. Gillespie was only hitting .133 when he landed on the DL with back spasms earlier this month.

Conor Gillaspie (back) is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno on Friday.

Gillaspie is no longer experiencing back spasms and could be ready to return from the 10-day disabled list when first eligible early next week, though he doesn't have a clear path to playing time in San Francisco with top prospect Christian Arroyo now manning third base.
May 16 - 8:03 PM

Giants placed 3B Conor Gillaspie on the 10-day disabled list with back spasms.

Gillaspie has played sparingly since Christian Arroyo's call-up last month and has only hit .133 in his 45 at-bats this year. Arroyo will continue to hold down the hot corner with Eduardo Nunez mostly playing left field.
May 11 - 8:31 PM

Conor Gillaspie finished 2-for-3 with a double, walk and two runs scored in Saturday's loss against the Padres.

Gillaspie accounted for the team's only extra-base hit in a lopsided loss at home. The former Wichita State standout is showing some signs of life at the plate after a terrible start. He remains useful only in the deepest of NL-only fantasy formats until this type of production becomes the norm.

Conor Gillaspie (arm) is on the lineup sheet for Wednesday's exhibition game against Puerto Rico.

Gillaspie was scratched from Saturday's Cactus League game due to soreness in his arm, but this suggests that he's over the issue. The 29-year-old is in the mix for a bench spot this spring.

Conor Gillaspie was scratched from Saturday's Cactus League game due to soreness in his arm.

The injury sounds minor and Gillaspie is listed as day-to-day. The 29-year-old slashed .262/.307/.440 with six homers and 25 RBI in 191 at-bats for the Giants in 2016. He's facing considerable competition for a bench spot on the Opening Day roster.
Mar 4 - 3:08 PM

Giants and 3B Conor Gillaspie avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.4 million contract.

Gillaspie saw the field in 101 games this past season, slashing .262/.307/.440 with six homers and 25 RBI during the regular season. He proceeded to play brilliantly in the postseason, posting a .421 batting average and 1.105 OPS in 19 Wild Card Game and NLDS at-bats. The 29-year-old third baseman has not seen more than 240 at-bats since the 2014 campaign and figures to play in a part-time role once again in 2017. Eduardo Nunez is expected to serve as the Giants' starting third baseman this coming season.
Jan 11 - 8:43 PM

Giants general manager Bobby Evans on Thursday would not commit to tendering Conor Gillaspie a contract this offseason.

Gillaspie is due a raise via arbitration this winter, with projecting him to earn a very reasonable $900,000. On the surface it would seem like giving the postseason hero that much would be a no-brainer, but the reality is that Gillaspie hit a pedestrian .262/.307/.440 in 2016, which falls right in line with his career .256/.309/.397 line. However, it would ultimately be hard to see the Giants letting Gillaspie walk away when they can keep him cheaply, even if they do have Eduardo Nunez pegged as their everyday third baseman in 2017.

Conor Gillaspie finished 4-for-4 in the Giants' NLDS Game 4 loss to the Cubs.

Gillaspie singled in the second, fourth, fifth, and eighth, driving in a run and scoring one of his own, but the San Francisco bullpen blew a three-run lead in the top of the ninth as the Giants were eliminated from the 2016 postseason. Gillaspie batted .421 with a 1.105 OPS in 19 at-bats between the Wild Card Game and Tuesday night's NLDS Game 4 defeat, possibly positioning himself for a slightly better payout in his first offseason of arbitration eligibility.

Conor Gillaspie socked a go-ahead, two-run triple off of Aroldis Chapman in the eighth inning of the Giants' extra-innings win over the Cubs.

Gillaspie somehow managed to get on top of a 101 mph fastball from Chapman and drove it into the right-center field gap at AT&T Park to push the Giants ahead. Sergio Romo then proceeded to blow a save in the ninth with a leadoff walk and then game-tying homer off of Kris Bryant. Joe Panik eventually saved the day with his RBI double in the bottom of the 13th. Gillaspie has now delivered each of the biggest two hits for the Giants this postseason.

Conor Gillaspie is starting at third base and batting eighth for the Giants in Monday's NLDS Game 3 versus the Cubs.

Eduardo Nunez has appeared as a pinch-hitter in the first two games as he comes back from a hamstring injury, but Gillaspie will continue to start at third base. The Giants' full lineup looks like this: Denard Span CF, Brandon Belt 1B, Buster Posey C, Hunter Pence RF, Brandon Crawford SS, Angel Pagan LF, Joe Panik 2B, Gillaspie 3B, Madison Bumgarner P.
