White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Conor Gillaspie won't see much of a drop in playing time after Gordon Beckham (hand) is activated from the disabled list.
That means we're likely to see Jeff Keppinger on the bench more. It makes sense given that Gillaspie is batting .291/.351/.425 with three homers and Keppinger is sporting a hideous .223/.229/.263 mark with one longball. Gillaspie's production is likely to fade, but he's worth playing in deeper leagues while he's hitting. May 31 - 9:15 AM

Date:

Conor Gillaspie hit a walkoff RBI single Saturday to lift the White Sox past the Marlins.

Gillaspie singled up the middle in the second inning, singled to right field in the fourth and then roped a walkoff RBI single to left field in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Dewayne Wise from second base. Gillaspie has a solid .298/.362/.444 batting line with three homers and nine RBI in 42 games this season.
May 25 - 10:09 PM

Conor Gillaspie (illness) grounded out as a pinch-hitter Monday night against the Twins.

Gillaspie hadn't played since Friday due to an upper respiratory infection. However, it sounds like he is now past the issue. The 25-year-old is batting .275/.337/.440 with three home runs, seven RBI and a .776 OPS in 33 games this season.
May 14 - 9:39 AM

Conor Gillaspie was scratched from the White Sox lineup Saturday due to an upper respiratory issue.

Jeff Keppinger will move from second base to third base and Tyler Greene will fill in at second. Gillaspie should be full recovered after a day or two of rest.
May 11 - 5:10 PM

Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-4 with a two-run double in the White Sox victory over the Mets on Wednesday.

The third baseman is now hitting .291 this season, and he was rewarded by batting cleanup in Wednesday's game. Gillaspie was mainly a reserve with the Giants, but he seems to have found a home starting at third base with the White Sox. Still, until he shows he can be a useful player over the course of a full season, we're inclined to pass on him outside of AL-only leagues.
May 8 - 10:23 PM

Conor Gillaspie launched his first homer since joining the White Sox in Monday's loss to the Indians.

Gillaspie took Justin Masterson deep in the second inning before later adding a single and a walk. The former Giant has been playing regularly since Gordon Beckham's injury, and while Monday's homer was his first RBI, he's now batting .326 over 45 plate appearances. He needs to be owned in AL-only formats.
Apr 22 - 11:19 PM

Conor Gillaspie drew another start at third base on Friday and delivered a pair of hits in a losing effort against the Indians.

On an evening where the White Sox could only muster five total hits against Justin Masterson, Gillaspie had good swings all night, going 2-for-3 with a double. He has a chance to earn everyday at-bats at third base in the absence of Gordon Beckham (hamate bone) and should be owned in all AL-only leagues.
Apr 12 - 9:34 PM

Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-4 with a double Thursday against the Nationals.

The White Sox chose not to call up Carlos Martinez or Brent Morel in Gordon Beckham's place, so it looks like Gillaspie is in line for plenty of playing time at third base. That makes him worthy of a pickup in AL-only leagues.
Apr 11 - 10:33 PM

Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-3 with four RBI in Tuesday's Cactus League win over the Rangers.

Gillaspie singled in a pair of runs in the third before tripling in a couple more in the fourth. Acquired last week from the Giants, Gillaspie should make the Opening Day roster as a backup at both corner infield spots.
Feb 26 - 6:37 PM

White Sox acquired 3B Conor Gillaspie from the Giants in exchange for RHP Jeff Soptic.

Gillaspie was out of options and not expected to make the Giants' Opening Day roster, so San Fran decided to go ahead and get something for him now. The sandwich round pick in 2008, Gillaspie has batted .287/.358/.420 with modest home runs totals over five minor league seasons. He should be able to land a bench job in Chicago.
Feb 22 - 12:18 PM

Giants optioned 3B Conor Gillaspie to Triple-A Fresno.

Gillaspie had a shot to hold down third base with Pablo Sandoval on the shelf, but he responded by batting just .150/.150/.200 over 20 at-bats and getting bypassed by journeyman Joaquin Arias. He'll return to a .362 and .939 OPS at Fresno.

Giants recalled INF Conor Gillaspie from Triple-A Fresno.

Gillaspie is starting at third base and batting second on Thursday afternoon against the Marlins, and should see regular time at the hot corner over the next several weeks while Pablo Sandoval recovers from a broken hamate bone. The 24-year-old was hitting .362 with a .939 OPS and three home runs in 23 games for Fresno and may carry some value in NL-only fantasy leagues.

Giants optioned INF Conor Gillaspie to Triple-A Fresno.

Gillaspie batted just .194/.211/.333 in 18 games this spring in the Cactus League. The 24-year-old will serve as organizational infield depth this year for San Fran.

Giants recalled 3B Conor Gillaspie from Triple-A Fresno.

Gillaspie went 2-for-7 during a brief call-up earlier this season. He hit .297/.389/.453 in 503 plate appearances over 124 games for Fresno this season, and could be in line for one or two starts per week in San Francisco.
