Dustin Ackley will visit a specialist to have his left ankle examined.

Ackley dealt with bone spurs in the ankle down the stretch. Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik doesn't think the outfielder will need surgery, but obviously more will be known after the exam. Ackley finished the season batting .245/.293/.398 with 14 homers and 65 RBI over 143 games.

Dustin Ackley had big night at the plate Friday against the Astros, going 2-for-4 with two solo home runs, a walk, and three runs scored.

It was the second multi-homer game of his career. Ackley came into Friday's action 3-for-35 (.086) this month. The Mariners and fantasy owners will have to hope that the big game will get him going again.

Dustin Ackley went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI as the Mariners' stomped the Angels 13-2 on Tuesday.

Ackley has missed a lot of time recently with bone spurs in his ankle. The injury makes it difficult for him to plant and pivot off the foot. So long as Ackley can tolerate the pain, he'll be in the lineup. He's now slashing .251/.298/.397 through 133 games.

Ackley has been dealing with bone spurs in his left ankle that have kept him out of the lineup since Saturday. Even if he's unavailable Friday, it seems as though Ackley will be back contributing in some fashion shortly thereafter.

Dustin Ackley remains a few days away from a return after an MRI showed bone spurs in his left ankle.

Ackley had surgery back in October of 2012 to remove a bone spur from the same ankle. It's not clear at this point whether he might eventually require another operation, but expect him for now to play through the issue after a few more days of rest.

Ackley came through with an RBI single in the third inning before blasting a three-run shot in the fifth. The homer proved to be the game-winning RBI. Ackley has 11 homers on the year, including six home runs, 24 RBI and 19 runs scored in August. He's hitting .260/.307/.414 overall.

Ackley finished a home run shy of the cycle, hitting his third triple of the season in the fifth inning. He's hitting .256/.306/.400 on the year, but Ackley has enjoyed the month of August -- after Sunday's game, the 26-year-old has 18 RBI and 15 runs scored in 21 games this month.
