Date:

Dustin Ackley (back) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Ackley appeared in just two games with the Yankees prior to going down with a right lumbar strain earlier this month. He should be back as a bench player in September.
Aug 25 - 4:01 PM

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Tuesday that Dustin Ackley (back) is expected to miss 20-30 days.

Ackley, who was acquired from the Mariners last week, was placed on the disabled list Tuesday with a right lumbar strain. He was healthy at the time of the trade, so the Yankees have no dispute with the Mariners. Still, it's a tough break. Cashman says that surgery could be an issue if he doesn't show improvement.
Aug 4 - 3:37 PM

Yankees placed OF/INF Dustin Ackley on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 3, with a right lumbar strain.

Ackley was acquired from the Mariners last week and was a potential threat for playing time at second base, but that will have to wait for now. The Yankees called up right-hander Caleb Cotham to take his place on the active roster.
Aug 4 - 1:04 PM

Yankees acquired OF/INF Dustin Ackley from the Mariners for OF Ramon Flores and RHP Jose Ramirez.

The Mariners selected Ackley with the No. 2 overall pick in 2009, but things never quite came together for him in Seattle, as he produced a disappointing .243/.306/.366 batting line over 584 games. The Yankees will have to hope that the change of scenery will make a difference for him. He could be a possibility to get some looks at second base over Stephen Drew.
Jul 30 - 4:57 PM

Jack Curry of YES Network reports that the Yankees are set to acquire Dustin Ackley from the Mariners.

Ramon Flores and Jose Ramirez will be going back to Seattle. Ackley, 27, is batting just .215/.270/.366 with six home runs and 19 RBI over 207 plate appearances this season. While he's another option for second base, he has mostly played in the outfield in 2015.
Jul 30 - 4:27 PM

Dustin Ackley walked and homered in four plate appearances in the Mariners' 10-inning loss to the Dodgers on Monday.

Ackley clubbed a solo home run off of Brandon McCarthy in the fifth inning, one of the four homers the right-hander allowed to the Mariners' offense. Ackley is up to three home runs on the season along with a .353 average in 17 at-bats. Despite the hot start, Ackley has limited fantasy appeal since he doesn't do much other than hit for modest power and he's sharing left field playing time with Rickie Weeks.
Apr 14 - 1:28 AM

Dustin Ackley homered off Jered Weaver in the Mariners' win Monday.

Ackley likes to tease, but this was a nice start after a strong spring in which he hit .347/.407/.531 with just six strikeouts in 49 at-bats. His fantasy upside is limited while hitting low in the Mariners, since he's not much of a basestealer and since he no longer qualifies at second base. Still, if he takes a modest step forward, it'd be a big help to Seattle's chances.
Apr 6 - 7:39 PM

Dustin Ackley swatted his first Cactus League home run as the Mariners fell to the Padres on Sunday.

Ackley victimized Chris Rearick for the two-run shot in the seventh inning, pulling the M's to within three runs at 6-3. He also added a double, finishing the day 2-for-3. Set to serve as the M's primary left fielder, Ackley has had a terrific spring, hitting .366 (15-for-41) with 10 RBI.
Mar 29 - 10:06 PM

Dustin Ackley singled, walked, scored twice, and knocked in a run Saturday as the Mariners earned an 11-7 win over the White Sox.

Ackley singled in Logan Morrison in the fourth inning for his RBI. He had walked and scored in the previous inning. His numbers have been steadily improving since becoming an everyday player in 2012. Now in a left field platoon with Rickie Weeks, his numbers should get better facing right-handed pitching exclusively, but his fantasy value will take a big hit from reduced playing time.
Mar 7 - 6:40 PM

Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon acknowledged to reporters Monday that Dustin Ackley will be in a left-field platoon this season with Rickie Weeks.

Ackley has batted just .236/.295/.342 in his career against left-handed pitching so the M's will pair him with the right-handed-hitting Weeks, who was signed to a one-year, $2 million free agent contract last month. It's a bad situation for fantasy purposes.
Mar 2 - 10:37 AM

Mariners and OF Dustin Ackley avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.6 million contract.

He can earn an additional $50,000 if he gets to 500 plate appearances. Ackley batted .245/.293/.398 with 14 homers and 65 RBI over 143 games last season and is slated for left field duty in 2015.
Jan 16 - 2:54 PM

Dustin Ackley will visit a specialist to have his left ankle examined.

Ackley dealt with bone spurs in the ankle down the stretch. Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik doesn't think the outfielder will need surgery, but obviously more will be known after the exam. Ackley finished the season batting .245/.293/.398 with 14 homers and 65 RBI over 143 games.

Dustin Ackley had big night at the plate Friday against the Astros, going 2-for-4 with two solo home runs, a walk, and three runs scored.

It was the second multi-homer game of his career. Ackley came into Friday's action 3-for-35 (.086) this month. The Mariners and fantasy owners will have to hope that the big game will get him going again.

Dustin Ackley went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI as the Mariners' stomped the Angels 13-2 on Tuesday.

Ackley has missed a lot of time recently with bone spurs in his ankle. The injury makes it difficult for him to plant and pivot off the foot. So long as Ackley can tolerate the pain, he'll be in the lineup. He's now slashing .251/.298/.397 through 133 games.
