Brewers optioned OF Caleb Gindl to Triple-A Nashville.

Gindl went 11-for-39 with 13 strikeouts this spring in the Cactus League. The 23-year-old outfielder should see action in the major leagues later this summer.

Brewers purchased the contract of OF Caleb Gindl from Triple-A Nashville.

A former fifth-round pick, Gindl is coming off a nice year for Nashville, as he batted .307/.390/.472 with 15 homers and 60 RBI over 472 at-bats. The 23-year-old is likely an extra outfielder over the long haul and should get a shot to win a bench spot in spring training.

Gindl became the third player to hit for the cycle in the Sounds' 34-year history. The right fielder is now hitting .281 with 12 homers in 265 at-bats with Nashville.

Brewers outfielder prospect Caleb Gindl strained his left oblique Friday while playing for Triple-A Nashville and is expected to miss a month of action.

The Brewers liked what they saw from Gindl in spring training, but he was no real threat to make the team, especially after suffering a calf injury late in camp. The 22-year-old will try to make his way up to the big club following his month-long absence.

Brewers outfielder prospect Caleb Gindl injury is to his right calf, not his knee as originally reported.

He's expected to miss the next 3-5 days with the injury. The Brewers also reassigned Gindl to their minor league camp Tuesday. He's slated to begin the 2011 season at Triple-A Nashville.

Caleb Gindl could miss some time after suffering a sprained right knee during Sunday's game against the Royals.

"Nothing too serious," Gindl said. "I feel a lot better now than I did down there, because down there the pain was pretty severe. I was really worried. Once I came inside and we got some ice on it, it was much better." The 22-year-old Gindl will likely be a regular at Triple-A Nashville this season.

Caleb Gindl - OF - Brewers

2007 fifth-round pick Caleb Gindl went 4-for-4 with three RBI and a walk Tuesday for Single-A Brevard County.

Gindl struck out 144 times last season, but he still hit .307/.388/.474 in low-A ball. He's at .385/.444/.564 so far in the FSL. Gindl is going to have to show more home run power in order to make it as a major league regular, but he does have a chance.

Caleb Gindl - OF - Brewers

Caleb Gindl hit his first two homers Sunday in a doubleheader for low Single-A West Virginia.

Gindl showed plenty of promise after being drafted in the fifth round last year, finishing at .372/.420/.580 in 207 at-bats. He's slumped early on this season -- it's taken five hits the last three games to raise his average to .200 -- but he's a pretty intriguing outfield prospect.

Rogers had a rough 11.12 ERA and 1/8 K/BB ratio in 5 2/3 innings with Double-A Huntsville and left his most recent appearance on Tuesday due to tingling in his right arm. The 27-year-old has a long injury history and began the season on the disabled list with what was termed as right shoulder instability.
