Brewers sent OF Caleb Gindl outright to Triple-A Nashville.

He cleared waivers, but it hardly matters since Gindl will be a minor league free agent at the end of the season. He hit just .227 with eight homers and a .663 OPS over 110 games in Triple-A.

Caleb Gindl smacked a solo homer in a losing effort against the Giants in Cactus League play on Friday.

The 25-year-old outfielder finished the afternoon 1-for-3 with the longball coming off Brett Bochy in the ninth inning. He held his own by slashing .242/.340/.439 and a 25/20 K/BB ratio in 132 at-bats with the Brewers in 2013, and is likely to crack the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder.

Caleb Gindl came up a double shy of the cycle and drove in three runs Monday versus the Brewers.

Gindly also homered Sunday, so it looks like he may have earned himself some additional playing time in the final two weeks. Norichika Aoki hasn't been a big factor of late and could take a seat more frequently.
