He cleared waivers, but it hardly matters since Gindl will be a minor league free agent at the end of the season. He hit just .227 with eight homers and a .663 OPS over 110 games in Triple-A.

He'll give the Brewers some outfield depth while Ryan Braun (oblique) is banged up. Gindl has hit .284/.352/.421 with two homers and six RBI in his first 25 games at Nashville.

Caleb Gindl smacked a solo homer in a losing effort against the Giants in Cactus League play on Friday.

The 25-year-old outfielder finished the afternoon 1-for-3 with the longball coming off Brett Bochy in the ninth inning. He held his own by slashing .242/.340/.439 and a 25/20 K/BB ratio in 132 at-bats with the Brewers in 2013, and is likely to crack the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder.

Caleb Gindl came up a double shy of the cycle and drove in three runs Monday versus the Brewers.

Gindly also homered Sunday, so it looks like he may have earned himself some additional playing time in the final two weeks. Norichika Aoki hasn't been a big factor of late and could take a seat more frequently.

Caleb Gindl smacked a solo homer in the bottom of the 13th inning Sunday against the Marlins to send Milwaukee to a 1-0 victory.

He finished 2-for-5 and added a double. Not a bad showing in his first start since June 27. The 24-year-old outfielder, batting .259 in 27 at-bats, doesn't play enough to warrant fantasy attention.

Gindl was promoted from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday after batting .274/.341/.456 with eight home runs and 38 RBI over 64 games in the Pacific Coast League. He will bat ninth and play left field in his MLB debut.
