Phillies optioned RHP Ethan Martin to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
The 25-year-old hurler allowed a pair of runs on one hit and three walks during his brief four-inning tenure with the Phillies. He'll continue to function as organizational depth at Triple-A and should get another shot at some point during the season. Jun 22 - 6:19 PM

Phillies recalled RHP Ethan Martin from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

It was reported last week that Martin was going through a dead arm phase, but apparently he's back to 100 percent. After missing the start of the season with shoulder inflammation, the young righty had a 1.69 ERA and 11 strikeouts 10 2/3 innings in Triple-A. He'll serve as bullpen depth.
Jun 3 - 12:44 PM

Ethan Martin is going through a "dead arm" phase at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, according to Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg.

Martin holds a 1.86 ERA in seven games while striking out a batter per inning, but his velocity has been down. The young righty began the season on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. The Phillies will presumably shut him down for a bit, so obviously he'll won't be an option for the big league bullpen for a while.
May 30 - 9:35 AM

Phillies activated RHP Ethan Martin from the 15-day disabled list; optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The 24-year-old right-hander will continue to provide organizational depth for both the rotation and the bullpen. He posted a 6.08 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 40 innings with the Phillies in 2013.
May 17 - 12:23 PM

Ethan Martin (shoulder) has moved his minor league rehab assignment to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Martin made three scoreless appearances at High-A Clearwater. He's on his way back from a shoulder strain and could be an option for the Phillies' bullpen in a week.
May 12 - 9:38 AM

Ethan Martin (shoulder) pitched a scoreless inning Sunday in his first rehab appearance with High-A Clearwater.

Martin strained his right shoulder in his first appearance during spring training but is finally ready for game action again. The Phillies will give him plenty of time on his rehab assignment as he makes the conversion from starter to reliever. "Yeah, just monitor him, see what he looks like," manager Ryne Sandberg said. "There's some grooming there, but it'll also allow him to build his arm up at a reasonable pace, reasonable time frame, but also keep tabs on him."
May 5 - 8:06 PM

Ethan Martin (shoulder) has been appearing in extended spring training games and is nearing a rehab assignment.

A strained shoulder kept Martin out for most of spring training, so he's expected to need at least three weeks of rehab appearances. He should rejoin the Phillies' bullpen around the end of May.
Apr 30 - 9:13 AM

Ethan Martin (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday.

Martin was forced to begin the season on the disabled list after being diagnosed with a strained right shoulder capsule during spring training. The Phillies plan to use him strictly as a reliever moving forward.
Apr 10 - 5:18 PM

Phillies placed RHP Ethan Martin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 21, with a strained right shoulder.

Martin has been on the shelf since having to leave his first Grapefruit League outing with a sore shoulder. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined.
Mar 27 - 7:43 PM

Ethan Martin (shoulder) has been diagnosed with a strained right shoulder capsule and will be shut down for the next three weeks.

Martin was forced to leave his Grapefruit League debut on Thursday due to soreness in the shoulder which prompted an MRI exam. He's in camp battling for a spot in the Phillies bullpen, and any missed time could be detrimental to his chances.
Mar 1 - 8:21 AM

Ethan Martin will undergo an MRI on his ailing right shoulder.

Martin had to exit a Grapefruit League appearance on Thursday because of shoulder issues. The Phillies will cross their fingers and hope it's nothing serious, but more won't be known until the results of the exam are released.
Feb 28 - 11:22 AM

Ethan Martin is experiencing shoulder discomfort.

The discomfort drove him from an appearance in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Blue Jays. He will meet with Phillies doctors on Friday morning.
Feb 27 - 3:21 PM

Ethan Martin left Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Blue Jays with an apparent arm injury.

Martin didn't have much life on his pitches and strolled off the field alongside a trainer after allowing three earned runs on three hits and a walk. The 24-year-old former first-round pick had been battling for an Opening Day bullpen spot. He'll be examined by team doctors.
Feb 27 - 2:48 PM

Ethan Martin pitched decently in a spot start against the Braves on Saturday, surrendering just one run on four hits over three innings.

Martin struck out a pair and issued one free pass on the night. The only blemish on his night was a sacrifice fly by Freddie Freeman in the first inning. The 24-year-old right-hander finishes his rookie season with an uninspiring 6.08 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 47/26 K/BB ratio in 40 innings. He's almost assuredly slated for more minor league seasoning to begin the 2014 campaign.
Sun, Sep 29, 2013 12:17:00 AM

Ethan Martin has officially been tabbed as the Phillies starter for Saturday's contest against the Braves.

Martin is expected to work three innings in the contest before turning the game over to the Phillies bullpen. Fantasy owners can continue to look elsewhere for streaming options.
