According to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com, Yorman Rodriguez will get the opportunity to earn a spot in the Reds' outfield during spring training.
The longtime prospect is out of minor league options, so if he doesn't crack the Opening Day roster, he would likely be claimed by another club. Rodriguez slashed .269/.308/.429 with 10 homers and 41 RBI in 85 games at Triple-A Louisville in 2015 before a calf injury ended his season prematurely. Jan 3 - 9:02 PM

Rodriguez batted .262/.331/.389 with nine home runs, 40 RBI, and 12 stolen bases over 119 games this season in Double-A. The 22-year-old was already on the 40-man roster, so now he'll get his first call-up to the big leagues.

Reds prospect OF Yorman Rodriguez stayed hot Monday, going 4-for-4 with one home run, two doubles, three runs scored and a stolen base for Double-A Pensacola.

Few hitters have been hotter than Rodriguez as of late, as the 22-year-old outfielder is batting .450/.538/.900 with four home runs, six doubles, 11 RBI and more walks (10) than strikeouts (8) during his current 11-game hitting streak. So far this month, he has hit as many doubles (10) as he did in all previous months combined, and he’s also one long ball away shy of matching his season home run total. Rodriguez already holds a place on the Reds’ 40-man roster, so there’s a chance he could receive an audition at the highest level in September.

Reds prospect OF Yorman Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, his seventh of the season, on Tuesday for Double-A Pensacola.

Rodriguez has homered in back-to-back games and appears to be heating up, with a .270/.378/.460 batting line, seven extra-base hits and a respectable 21-10 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 17 games this month. The 22-year-old outfielder hasn’t shown as much power as expected this season, but he’s maintained a steady walk rate (8.2%) while trimming some of the swing and miss (24.2 K%) from his game. Overall, Rodriguez has batted .255/.318/.365 with seven home runs, 14 doubles and five triples through 108 games with Pensacola.

Reds optioned OF Yorman Rodriguez to Double-A Pensacola; reassigned RHPs Robert Stephenson, Tim Crabbe and Michael Lorenzen, 3B Rey Navarro, Cs Rossmel Perez and Max Ramirez to minor league camp.

There are some notable names but no surprises among this group. Rodriguez, Stephenson and Lorenzen were all ranked by Baseball America among the team's top-six prospects. It's possible their Stephenson, their top prospect, will make his major league debut sometime this season.

Reds purchased the contract of OF Yorman Rodriguez from Class A Dayton.

Rodriguez struggled at High-A Bakersfield this year before getting sent back down to Dayton, where he batted .271/.307/.430 with six homers, 44 RBI and a .737 OPS the rest of the way. The 20-year-old hasn't shown much plate discipline (298/67 K/BB ratio) as a pro and is still quite raw, but the Reds aren't ready to give up on his tools.
