Alfredo Figaro gave up five runs -- four earned -- over 4 1/3 frames in Tuesday's loss to the Astros.
He yielded five hits, walked a pair and struck out three. Figaro tossed seven shutout innings against the Marlins his last time out, but he was unable to duplicate that effort in another favorable matchup. If he gets another start, it will come this weekend against the Braves. Jun 18 - 11:57 PM

Alfredo Figaro pitched seven scoreless innings against the Marlins on Wednesday to earn his first victory of the season.

Figaro was stellar, allowing just three hits while striking out four on the night. Granted, the Marlins are an easy target, but the presence of Giancarlo Stanton at least makes the feat a little more impressive. And he must be living right, because his next start will come next Wednesday against the Astros in Houston.

Alfredo Figaro gave up four runs over 5 1/3 innings as part of a no-decision Friday against the Phillies.

Making his second start of the season, Figaro scattered seven hits while walking none and striking out six. It was a solid effort under the circumstances, but he's not assured of making another start.
Jun 8 - 12:09 AM

Alfredo Figaro will start on Friday against the Phillies.

The Brewers have opted to give Figaro another start instead of bringing up Johnny Hellweg or Jimmy Nelson from the minors. With Chris Narveson (finger) nearing a return, Figaro's start Friday could be his last one.
Jun 3 - 11:17 PM

Alfredo Figaro allowed four runs over five innings and took a no-decision on Tuesday.

Figaro was making his first start of the year for the Brewers after 15 relief appearances, and the Twins got to him for three home runs in his five innings. The right-hander allowed just one other hit, though, and gave his team a chance to win despite the bombs. Even if Figaro gets another opportunity to start, he can continue to be ignored in all formats.
May 29 - 12:59 AM

Alfredo Figaro is expected to start next Tuesday against the Twins.

He'll make the start in place of Hiram Burgos, who was placed on the disabled list Friday with a right shoulder impingement. Things could change if Figaro is needed out of the bullpen this weekend.
May 24 - 5:45 PM

Brewers purchased the contract of RHP Alfredo Figaro from Triple-A Nashville.

Figaro has earned the final spot in the Brewers' bullpen after posting a 2.40 ERA over 11 appearances this spring. He'll work the middle innings.
Mar 31 - 8:44 AM

Brewers signed RHP Alfredo Figaro to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

The deal was originally agreed to in mid-December, but Figaro first had to get out of his contract with Japan's Orix Buffaloes. The 28-year-old right-hander will be fighting for a middle relief job this spring in Brewers camp.
Jan 31 - 11:42 AM

Alfredo Figaro is still under contract with Japan's Orix Buffaloes, so the Brewers are backing away from the minor league deal that they struck with him this week.

It's possible that the Orix Buffaloes will be willing to let Figaro go, but the club hasn't made a decision yet. "I have reached out to the Orix team and advised them that it was not our intent to violate their reservation rights, and if they intend to retain Figaro we will step aside," Brewers assistant GM Gord Ash said in an email to MLB.com.

Brewers signed RHP Alfredo Figaro to a minor league contract.

Figaro, 28, hasn't appeared in the majors since his release from the Tigers in 2010 and spent the last two seasons in Japan's Pacific League. The deal is expected to include an invite to spring training.

According to Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes, Alfredo Figaro has re-signed with the Orix Buffaloes of Japan's Pacific League

Figaro, 26, will make $750,000 next season and could earn an additional $375,000 with incentives. The former Tigers' property posted a 3.42 ERA and 90/36 K/BB ratio over 123 2/3 innings during his first season in Japan.

Tigers released RHP Alex Figaro.

Figaro has signed a contract with the Orix Buffaloes in Japan and will spend at least one season overseas. The 26-year-old right-hander went 10-6 with a 4.14 ERA in 23 starts this past year at Triple-A Toledo.

Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski confirmed that the club has had "conversations" about sending Alfredo Figaro to Japan, but said that nothing has been finalized yet.

It was reported on Monday that he had agreed to a deal with the Orix Buffaloes of Japan's Pacific League. Figaro, 26, went 10-6 with a 4.14 ERA in 23 starts with Triple-A Toledo this past season. He was expected to open the 2011 season at Triple-A.

Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker reports that the Orix Buffaloes are negotiating with Alfredo Figaro.

Figaro, 26, was 10-6 with a 4.14 ERA in 23 starts for Triple-A Toledo in 2010. He hasn't been as impressive in the big leagues, posting a 6.54 career ERA in 13 appearances with the Tigers over the last two years. Orix also has interest in Mike Hessman, who elected to become a free agent after spending this past season in the Mets' organization. The 32-year-old mashed again at the Triple-A level, but batted just .127 with one home run and 23 strikeouts in 55 at-bats with the big club. Both Figaro and Hessman look like Quad-A players, so Japan could be an interesting alternative option for them.
