Brewers optioned RHP Alfredo Figaro and OF Caleb Gindl to Triple-A Nashville; assigned INF Irving Falu and C Robinzon Diaz to minor league camp.
Figaro threw 74 innings for the Brewers last season, posting a 4.14 ERA and 1.24 WHIP while bouncing between starting and relieving. He'll likely be one of the first recalls should the Brewers need a pitcher this season. Mar 22 - 7:42 PM

Brewers optioned RHP Alfredo Figaro to Triple-A Nashville.

Figaro has done a solid job for the Brewers this year while bouncing back and forth from the bullpen and rotation, posting a 4.25 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. He'll be back up next month.

Brewers activated RHP Alfredo Figaro from the 15-day disabled list.

Figaro has been out since late June with a right oblique strain. He was starting when he went down with the ailment but returns as a reliever.

Alfredo Figaro (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with the Brewers' rookie-level Arizona team on Sunday.

Figaro shouldn't need more than a few appearances before being activated. He'll be used as a reliever for the Brewers once he's ready.

Alfredo Figaro (oblique) will be used in long relief when he returns from the disabled list.

He showed some flashes when given a chance to start, but the Brewers have opted to keep Tom Gorzelanny in the rotation instead. Figaro threw a bullpen session Saturday and will return shortly after the All-Star break.

Alfredo Figaro (oblique) will be activated from the disabled list as soon as this weekend.

Figaro has yet to make a rehab appearance, but his strained right oblique is evidently coming along nicely. He's been used as a starter and reliever this season but figures to get another shot in the rotation given the current state of the Brewers' starting five.

Brewers placed RHP Alfredo Figaro on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 24, with a right oblique strain.

Figaro evidently must have suffered the injury during Sunday's start. The ailment figures to sideline him through the All-Star break. Johnny Hellweg will take Figaro's spot in the rotation.

Alfredo Figaro gave up five runs -- four earned -- over 4 1/3 frames in Tuesday's loss to the Astros.

He yielded five hits, walked a pair and struck out three. Figaro tossed seven shutout innings against the Marlins his last time out, but he was unable to duplicate that effort in another favorable matchup. If he gets another start, it will come this weekend against the Braves.

Alfredo Figaro pitched seven scoreless innings against the Marlins on Wednesday to earn his first victory of the season.

Figaro was stellar, allowing just three hits while striking out four on the night. Granted, the Marlins are an easy target, but the presence of Giancarlo Stanton at least makes the feat a little more impressive. And he must be living right, because his next start will come next Wednesday against the Astros in Houston.

Alfredo Figaro gave up four runs over 5 1/3 innings as part of a no-decision Friday against the Phillies.

Making his second start of the season, Figaro scattered seven hits while walking none and striking out six. It was a solid effort under the circumstances, but he's not assured of making another start.

Alfredo Figaro will start on Friday against the Phillies.

The Brewers have opted to give Figaro another start instead of bringing up Johnny Hellweg or Jimmy Nelson from the minors. With Chris Narveson (finger) nearing a return, Figaro's start Friday could be his last one.

Alfredo Figaro allowed four runs over five innings and took a no-decision on Tuesday.

Figaro was making his first start of the year for the Brewers after 15 relief appearances, and the Twins got to him for three home runs in his five innings. The right-hander allowed just one other hit, though, and gave his team a chance to win despite the bombs. Even if Figaro gets another opportunity to start, he can continue to be ignored in all formats.

Alfredo Figaro is expected to start next Tuesday against the Twins.

He'll make the start in place of Hiram Burgos, who was placed on the disabled list Friday with a right shoulder impingement. Things could change if Figaro is needed out of the bullpen this weekend.
Fri, May 24, 2013 05:45:00 PM

Brewers purchased the contract of RHP Alfredo Figaro from Triple-A Nashville.

Figaro has earned the final spot in the Brewers' bullpen after posting a 2.40 ERA over 11 appearances this spring. He'll work the middle innings.
