Alfredo Figaro (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with the Brewers' rookie-level Arizona team on Sunday.

Figaro shouldn't need more than a few appearances before being activated. He'll be used as a reliever for the Brewers once he's ready.

Alfredo Figaro (oblique) will be used in long relief when he returns from the disabled list.

Alfredo Figaro (oblique) will be activated from the disabled list as soon as this weekend.

Figaro has yet to make a rehab appearance, but his strained right oblique is evidently coming along nicely. He's been used as a starter and reliever this season but figures to get another shot in the rotation given the current state of the Brewers' starting five.

Brewers placed RHP Alfredo Figaro on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 24, with a right oblique strain.

Figaro evidently must have suffered the injury during Sunday's start. The ailment figures to sideline him through the All-Star break. Johnny Hellweg will take Figaro's spot in the rotation.

Alfredo Figaro gave up five runs -- four earned -- over 4 1/3 frames in Tuesday's loss to the Astros.

He yielded five hits, walked a pair and struck out three. Figaro tossed seven shutout innings against the Marlins his last time out, but he was unable to duplicate that effort in another favorable matchup. If he gets another start, it will come this weekend against the Braves.

Alfredo Figaro pitched seven scoreless innings against the Marlins on Wednesday to earn his first victory of the season.

Figaro was stellar, allowing just three hits while striking out four on the night. Granted, the Marlins are an easy target, but the presence of Giancarlo Stanton at least makes the feat a little more impressive. And he must be living right, because his next start will come next Wednesday against the Astros in Houston.
