Giants signed RHP Kevin Pucetas to a minor league contract.
The 30-year-old spent the past two seasons in the Rangers organization, posting a 4.36 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 32/33 K/BB ratio over 53 2/3 innings at Class-A Hickory and High-A Myrtle Beach in 2014. He's merely organizational fodder. Feb 7 - 12:05 PM

Rangers signed RHP Kevin Pucetas to a minor league contract.

Pucetas, 28, spent 2012 at Double- and Triple-A with the Nationals, posting a 3.70 ERA over 104 2/3 frames. He's just organizational filler.

Royals released RHP Kevin Pucetas.

Pucetas, 27, had a 4.98 ERA and 67/38 K/BB ratio over 106 2/3 innings as a starter and reliever with Triple-A Omaha last season. He's likely to end up somewhere as organizational filler.

Royals sent RHP Kevin Pucetas outright to Triple-A Omaha.

Pucetas successfully cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. It's no real surprise, given his ugly 5.07 ERA over 10 starts and three relief appearances at the Triple-A level this season.

Royals designated RHP Kevin Pucetas for assignment.

He was cleared to make room for Mike Moustakas on the 40-man roster. Pucetas, 26, hasn't posted an ERA lower than 5.00 since 2008 in High-A ball. Even then, he wasn't considered a top prospect. He'll likely pass through waivers.

Royals optioned RHP Kevin Pucetas and LHP Everett Teaford to Triple-A Omaha.

They've also reassigned LHPs Chris Dwyer, John Lamb and Will Smith and RHP Steve Shell to minor league camp. Pucetas, who was acquired in the Jose Guillen deal last season, and Teaford both pitched horribly this spring but will offer some depth in the minors.

Royals acquired RHP Kevin Pucetas from the Giants as the player to be named later in August's deal for Jose Guillen.

Pucetas was awarded the "Most Spectacular Pitcher Award" in 2007 when he amassed a 1.86 ERA over 145-plus innings at Single-A Augusta. The reality? He's not too spectacular. The 25-year-old right-hander has posted ERAs of 5.04 and 5.69 over the last two seasons and faces an uphill climb toward the major leagues.

Giants optioned RHPs Kevin Pucetas and Henry Sosa, LHP Alex Hinshaw and INFs Ryan Rohlinger and Matt Downs to Triple-A Fresno.

Pucetas was a late consideration for the starting rotation, posting a 2.89 ERA and 7/6 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings, but the fifth starter gig was eventually awarded to Todd Wellemeyer.

Kevin Pucetas pitched five innings of one-run ball Sunday to beat the Diamondbacks.

Pucetas gave up his first earned run in 14 innings this spring, but even if he had kept his scoreless string intact, he still wouldn’t have made up any ground on Todd Wellemeyer, who looks to be the Giants’ choice for the fifth spot in the rotation. Pucetas likely will return to Triple-A.

Kevin Pucetas got a start against the Mariners on Saturday and retired all nine batters he faced.

Pucetas entered camp behind Madison Bumgarner and Todd Wellemeyer in line for a rotation spot, but he’s helped himself a bunch by allowing just three hits in seven scoreless innings. The 25-year-old Pucetas lacks above average stuff and he finished last year with a 5.04 ERA in 28 starts in Triple-A, so he’s not really a fantasy sleeper. He could, however, eat innings while the Giants are waiting on Bumgarner.

Single-A San Jose's Kevin Pucetas moved to 5-0 by throwing six scoreless innings on Tuesday.

Pucetas was 15-4 with a 1.86 ERA at low-A Augusta last year, but like a lot of the pitchers the Giants let overmatch their leagues, he's not viewed as much of a prospect. The 23-year-old should be in Double-A right now.
