Johnson walked four and coughed up seven hits in his first major league appearance of the season. He is only expected to serve as the Orioles' fifth starter for a short time and can be ignored in all fantasy formats.

The O's need a starter with Miguel Gonzalez (blister) going on the disabled list. Johnson got off to a late start this season due to a lat strain and has posted a 4.41 ERA and 19/4 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings at Triple-A Norfolk. He should get at least a couple starts and isn't a bad AL-only play.

Orioles activated RHP Steve Johnson from the 15-day disabled list, optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.

Johnson is over his lat strain, but he'll operate in the Norfolk rotation for a while before the Orioles consider him for a call-up. Freddy Garcia is likely to be the No. 5 starter for now.

Steve Johnson (lat) threw a side session on Saturday and is on track to pitch Wednesday for Triple-A Norfolk.

Johnson is working his way back from a lat injury sustained in spring training, and he seems to be getting closer to returning. Johnson posted a promising 2.11 ERA in 38 1/3 innings with the Orioles in 2012.

Steve Johnson (lat) threw four innings in extended spring training on Thursday and will now begin a minor league rehab assignment.

Johnson threw a total of 70 pitches. It's not clear which affiliate he'll report to, but he should be fully stretched out within a couple of starts. The Orioles could option him to Triple-A Norfolk once he's back to full health.
