Blue Jays signed LHP Alex Hinshaw to a minor league contract.
The deal includes a spring training invite. Hinshaw, 30, had a 6.04 ERA and 36/21 K/BB ratio over 28 1/3 innings this season between the Padres and Cubs. The southpaw has allowed 15 homers in just 74 innings in the big leagues. We're not optimistic about him winning a roster spot. Wed, Nov 21, 2012 03:24:00 PM

Cubs designated LHP Alex Hinshaw for assignment.

He was cleared to make room for Blake Parker's return from the disabled list. Hinshaw gave up five runs on four hits (including three home runs) without recording an out in Monday's blowout loss to the Brewers. He has a 135.00 ERA with the Cubs. Not often you can say that about a pitcher.

Cubs claimed LHP Alex Hinshaw off waivers from the Padres.

The 29-year-old southpaw was designated for assignment by the Padres last week after posting a 4.50 ERA and 36/20 K/BB ratio over 28 innings. Those numbers essentially fall in line with the rest of his major league career. Hinshaw, a former 15th-round pick of the Giants, won't have more success in Wrigley than he did in PETCO. He'll function as a low-leverage reliever.

Padres designated LHP Alex Hinshaw for assignment.

He was cleared to make room for Tom Layne on the active roster. Hinshaw has a 4.50 ERA and 36/20 K/BB ratio over 28 innings with the Padres this season. There's a chance he could slip through waivers unclaimed.

Padres purchased the contract of LHP Alex Hinshaw from Triple-A Tucson.

The 29-year-old southpaw has posted a 3.72 ERA and 18/10 K/BB ratio in 19 1/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level. He'll operate in a relief role in the bigs.

Padres signed LHP Alex Hinshaw to a minor league contract.

Hinshaw, 29, compiled a 4.80 ERA and 58/39 K/BB ratio over 45 innings this season between Double-A Richmond and Triple-A Fresno in the Giants' organization. He hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2009 and unless his command improves, that trend will continue in 2012.

Giants sent LHP Alex Hinshaw outright to Triple-A Fresno.

Hinshaw successfully cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The 28-year-old left-hander has a 4.30 ERA and 45/26 K/BB ratio over 37 2/3 innings between Double-A Richmond and Triple-A Fresno this season. He hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2009.

Giants designated LHP Alex Hinshaw for assignment.

The move was made in order to clear a roster spot for Mark DeRosa, who came off the 60-day disabled list. Hinshaw had a 3.40 ERA in 48 games for Giants in 2008 and has posted a 4.30 ERA while striking out 45 over 37 2/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A this season.

Alex Hinshaw added 20 pounds this winter in order to maintain his strength throughout the upcoming season.

We can only assume the extra weight is muscle mass and not of the lard variety. Hinshaw is hoping to make a very different team than the one he last played for in 2009, when the Giants sent him to the minors in September of that year. The strikeout-focused reliever is hoping to land one of the last spots in the 2011 San Francisco bullpen.

Giants optioned LHP Alex Hinshaw to Double-A Connecticut.

Usually we don't see players demoted in September because MLB rosters can hold up to 40 players, but Hinshaw posted a dreadful 12.00 ERA in nine appearances with the Giants. He doesn't belong on a team in the Wild Card hunt.

Giants recalled LHP Alex Hinshaw from Triple-A Fresno.

Hinshaw hasn't had a taste of the big leagues since April, when he posted an 8.44 ERA and issues five walks over 5 1/3 innings out of the Giants' bullpen. The lefty will work in middle relief.

Giants optioned LHP Alex Hinshaw to Triple-A Fresno.

Hinshaw has posted an 8.44 ERA and issued five walks in just 5 1/3 innings this season. That's absolutely unacceptable for a reliever. He'll try to figure some things out at Fresno.

Giants purchased the contract of LHP Alex Hinshaw from Triple-A Fresno.

The 25-year-old Hinshaw will make his major league debut after allowing one run in 15 2/3 innings for Fresno. There's no real upside here, but it's worth giving him a look to see if his soft stuff can fool major league hitters.
