Diamondbacks released OF Xavier Paul.
The move clears space for the addition of Nolan Reimold. Paul batted only .100/.143/.100 over 14 games for the D'Backs. He'll likely just sit out for the remainder of the season. Aug 29 - 4:40 PM

Diamondbacks purchased the contract of OF Xavier Paul from Triple-A Reno.

Paul just signed with the D'Backs earlier this week and has now made it back up to the majors. The veteran outfielder has hit .251/.311/.425 with 12 homers and 57 RBI at the Triple-A level this season.

Diamondbacks signed OF Xavier Paul to a minor league contract.

Paul had been released by the Orioles over the weekend after batting .254/.316/.431 with 12 homers and 56 RBI at Triple-A Norfolk. He'll be assigned to Triple-A Reno for now but could make his way up to the majors.
Aug 7 - 6:58 PM

Orioles released OF Xavier Paul.

The 29-year-old outfielder has spent the entire season at Triple-A Norfolk, where he has slashed .254/.316/.431 with 12 homers and 56 RBI. He shouldn't have a problem latching on elsewhere.

Orioles reassigned OF Xavier Paul to minor league camp.

Paul never had a great shot of making the Orioles' Opening Day roster. He'll presumably open the regular season as a starting outfielder at Triple-A Norfolk.

Xavier Paul (hand) is listed as a reserve on Tuesday.

Paul was plunked on the top of his hand in Monday's Grapefruit League game. The veteran journeyman compiled a .741 OPS in 239 trips to the plate over 97 games with the Reds last season. Inked to a minor league pact by the Orioles in December, he's trying to win a bench spot.

Xavier Paul is getting X-rays on his right hand.

Paul took a pitch off the top of his hand in Monday's Grapefruit League game. The X-rays are precautionary. He signed a minor league contract with the Orioles in December and is trying to win a bench spot.

Orioles signed OF Xavier Paul to a minor league contract.

The Reds non-tendered Paul on December 3. Paul played in 97 games with the Reds last season, compiling a .741 OPS in 239 trips to the plate.

Reds non-tendered OF Xavier Paul.

Paul was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter, so he wasn't due a significant raise, but the Reds decided to cut him loose. The 28-year-old hit .244/.339/.402 with seven homers and 32 RBI in 97 games this past season.

Xavier Paul (shoulder) is in the Reds' starting lineup Wednesday against the Brewers.

Paul has been limited to pinch-hitting duties over the past two days due to a sore shoulder. It shouldn't be an issue moving forward.

Xavier Paul (shoulder) is expected to return to the lineup on Wednesday.

Paul hasn't played since last Friday, when he hurt his right shoulder while trying to make a catch in foul territory. "He'll probably be back hopefully on Wednesday," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "He's able to pinch-hit [Monday]."

Xavier Paul has been scratched from Saturday's lineup with a right shoulder injury.

Paul was injured while trying to make a catch in foul territory in the ninth inning of Friday's loss, but it's not a major concern. Derrick Robinson is starting in left field Saturday against the Mariners.

Xavier Paul hit a three-run home run for his only hit of the night in the Reds' loss to the Rockies on Wednesday.

Paul has filled in admirably for the Reds in left field in Ryan Ludwick's absence, posting a .276/.382/.438 line in 45 games. With Ludwick still sidelined for the foreseeable future, Paul should continue to get the lion's share of playing time in left.

Xavier Paul went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Indians.

Paul's single in the first inning plated a pair of runs, and he added two more singles after that. The journeyman has seen lots of playing time in left field this season and is quietly having a nice year, sporting a .278/.398/.389 batting line. The problem is that he doesn't have much power or speed, making him a pretty underwhelming fantasy option.

Xavier Paul has hit whenever he's been called upon by the Reds, slashing .270/.400/.405 over 90 plate appearances.

Since he was called up by the Reds last July, Paul has hit as well as any reserve outfielder, batting .294/.389/.438 with four homers and 20 RBI in 160 at-bats. Paul has cost Cincy four runs below replacement defensively in limited opportunities this year, so he'll have to keep his lumber warm to steal at-bats.
