Blue Jays signed LHP Daniel Schlereth to a minor league contract.
Schlereth hasn't appeared in a game at the major league level since 2012 and he struggled in a short stay with the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate in 2015. The 29-year-old son of ESPN NFL analyst Mark Schlereth probably won't make much of an impact with the Jays. Jan 18 - 3:23 PM

Tigers released LHP Daniel Schlereth.

Schlereth was acquired from the Pirates in June. He posted a 5.94 ERA in the minors between the two minor league systems. The 28-year-old left-hander hasn't pitched in the majors since 2012 and will be nothing more than minor league depth if he finds another home.

Schlereth had a 3.98 ERA over 73 appearances with the Tigers from 2010-2012. The 28-year-old will function as organizational depth in his return. He had an ugly 7.23 ERA and 18/18 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings this season with the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate.

Pirates signed LHP Daniel Schlereth to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Not so long ago, the son of ESPN NFL analyst Mark Schlereth was a prized prospect in both Arizona and Detroit. Tendinitis in his throwing shoulder began wreaking havoc on his career in 2012 and the Tigers pulled the plug on Schlereth last winter. The 27-year-old was only healthy enough to complete 11 innings for Triple-A Norfolk (Orioles) in 2013, though he only allowed one earned run in those 12 relief appearances.

According to Thomas Harding of MLB.com, the Rockies are interested in free agent left-hander Daniel Schlereth.

Schlereth, recently non-tendered by the Tigers, was limited to six appearances in 2012 because of shoulder tendinitis. While he owns a live arm, he's always battled bouts of wildness, owning a career 1.57 WHIP and 91/61 K/BB ratio over 93 total major-league innings.

The Tigers will not tender Daniel Schlereth a contract.

It's surprising given that Schlereth wasn't eligible for salary arbitration, but they must be really concerned about his shoulder. Schlereth missed most of 2012 while dealing with shoulder tendinitis and posted a 10.29 ERA in seven innings when he was healthy.

Daniel Schlereth (shoulder) tossed a scoreless rehab inning on Saturday at High-A Lakeland.

Schlereth has been on the disabled list since lat April with tendinitis in his throwing shoulder and is likely to spend close to two weeks pitching in minor league rehab games. The right-hander had a 10.29 ERA in seven innings this season before hitting the shelf.

Daniel Schlereth (shoulder) has resumed throwing bullpen sessions.

Schlereth was placed on the disabled list in late April due to left shoulder tendinitis. The southpaw was given the option of surgery to repair damage, but it appears that therapy has done the job. There's no timetable for his return, though.

Daniel Schlereth (shoulder) has begun long-tossing.

"He's throwing now to 120 feet," Tigers head trainer Kevin Rand said Wednesday. "We're getting close to the point where he'd be ready to resume a mound progression. At that point, we'll reassess him." Schlereth has been on the shelf since late April due to left shoulder tendinitis.

Tigers transferred LHP Daniel Schlereth (shoulder) from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

It's just a procedural move, as the Tigers needed a spot for Matt Young on the 40-man roster. Either Andy Dirks (Achilles) will be placed on the disabled list, or Don Kelly will be sent down to offset Young's promotion.

AN MRI taken Wednesday on Daniel Schlereth's ailing left shoulder showed no structural damage.

Good news. Schlereth is already performing range of motion exercises and should soon be cleared to resume throwing. He's been on the disabled list since late April.

Daniel Schlereth will be examined by Dr. Tom Noonan in Colorado after pain in his left shoulder forced him to cut short a bullpen session last Friday.

Schlereth was placed on the DL a week ago due to shoulder tendinitis, but the Tigers want to see if anything else is going on. "It was supposed to have been a 30-pitch bullpen session," Tigers head trainer Kevin Rand said. "It was cut at 15. Dr. Noonan's going to give a follow-up exam and offer a second opinion." We'll update Schlereth's status when more is known.
