Red Sox voided the minor league contract of RHP Jason Bergmann.

The Red Sox were evidently unaware of Bergmann's shoulder injury when they signed him, thus the move to void the contract. Bergmann, who has yet to start throwing, will now have to catch on with another club.

Jason Bergmann (shoulder) has yet to start throwing.

Bergmann was shut down last week due to shoulder discomfort. The good news is that the strength in his shoulder is improving, so he should be back on a mound pretty soon. The 29-year-old right-hander signed a minor league contract with the BoSox in December.

Jason Bergman has been shut down indefinitely due to what is being termed a "shoulder hindrance."

The Red Sox won't ask him to begin throwing again until he no longer feels discomfort in his right shoulder. Bergmann inked a minor league contract with the Red Sox this winter and was hoping to gain consideration for a big league bullpen gig. It's not known when he might be back on his feet.

Red Sox signed RHP Jason Bergmann to a minor league contract.

Bergmann was shuffled back and forth from the rotation to the bullpen in his six years with the Nationals but never had sustained success despite some nice numbers when he pitched in relief in the minors. It's a decent depth add for the Red Sox, but Bergmann is unlikely to crack the opening day roster.

Nationals sent RHP Jason Bergmann outright to Triple-A Syracuse.

The Cubs or another team in need of relief help could have done a lot worse than taking a flier on Bergmann. However, he went unclaimed on waivers, meaning he'll head back to Triple-A for at least a little while.

According to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post, the Nationals failed to find an offer they liked for Jason Bergmann.

The Blue Jays were one team rumored to have interest. Bergmann was designated for assignment by the club earlier this month. He's currently on waivers and could be outrighted, claimed by another team or become a free agent. A resolution is expected at some point today.
Fri, Apr 23, 2010 11:48:00 AM's Bill Ladson reports that the Blue Jays have some interest in Jason Bergmann, who was recently designated for assignment by the Nationals.

Livan Hernandez's incredible start makes Bergmann a little more expendable, but given the struggles the rest of the rotation has had, it would seem unlikely that the Nationals would be willing to part with another option cheaply. Still, if the Jays make them a good offer, Bergmann is expendable with Steven Strasburg just a phone call away.

Nationals designated RHP Jason Bergmann for assignment.

Bergmann was cleared in order to make room for Thursday's starter Scott Olsen on the 40-man roster. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 56 relief appearances with the Nationals last season. He had allowed four runs in 2 1/3 innings of work this season.

The Nationals and RHP Jason Bergmann avoided arbitration on Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $750,000 contract.

This was Bergmann's first chance at arbitration. The 28-year-old right-hander compiled a 4.50 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 56 appearances with the Nationals last season. He'll continue to contribute in middle relief.

Nationals recalled RHP Jason Bergmann from Triple-A Syracuse.

As expected, he'll take the roster spot of Jesus Colome, who was designated for assignment following Saturday's game. This will be Bergmann's third go-around with the Nationals this season -- he has a 6.91 ERA in 14 games this year.

The Nationals are expected to recall Jason Bergmann from Triple-A Syracuse following Saturday's game.

Jesus Colome and his 8.40 ERA in 15 appearances is the likeliest candidate to go. Bergmann will fill a middle relief role with the club. He had a 6.91 ERA in 14 games with the club before being sent down on June 16.

Nationals optioned RHP Jason Bergmann from Triple-A Syracuse.

The 27-year-old had a 1.10 ERA in 16 1/3 innings before he arrived, but struggled upon reaching the major league level. Bergmann will leave behind a 6.91 major league ERA and 1.60 WHIP.

Nationals recalled RHP Jason Bergmann.

Bergmann has been up and down all season as he works through some early-season command issues. He has a 3.60 ERA and 3/4 K/BB ratio in five major league innings and should be allowed to stick around this time if he can piece together a few quality relief outings.
