Collin Cowgill went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Cowgill hit the first of two two-run home runs against Ross Detwiler in the fifth inning, as he was matched later in the inning by David Freese. Cowgill's blast tied the game at 3-3. Cowgill, now batting .231, doesn't have any fantasy appeal outside of AL-only leagues.

Angels and OF Collin Cowgill avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $995,000 contract.

The deal also includes incentives that should push the contract over $1 million. He will open the season as a reserve outfielder for the Halos, limiting his fantasy appeal to AL-only formats.

Collin Cowgill played a big part in the Angels' 4-1 win over the Rangers Tuesday, going 2-for-4 with a three-run triple, a stolen base and a run scored.

Cowgill had himself an eighth inning -- he led off the frame with an infield single, stole second base and scored on Mike Trout's triple. The Angels would proceed to bat around, with Cowgill's bases-loaded triple capping a seven-run inning. Cowgill is hitting .260/.333/.379 in 94 games this season.

Angels activated OF Collin Cowgill from the 15-day disabled list.

Mike Morin (foot) was placed on the disabled list in a corresponding roster move. Cowgill, out since mid-July with a broken nose and thumb, should serve as a fourth outfielder down the stretch.

Collin Cowgill (nose) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Cowgill has been out since mid-July with a broken nose and thumb. He should be activated early next week if all goes well.

Collin Cowgill (nose) expects to return from the disabled list in a couple of weeks.

Cowgill landed on the disabled list prior to the All-Star break after he was hit by a pitch on July 12 and broke both his nose and his right thumb. He had stitches removed from his nose on Monday and is likely a few days away from swinging a bat.

Angels placed OF Collin Cowgill on the 15-day disabled list with a nasal fracture.

Cowgill needed stitches after being hit by a pitch Saturday and he apparently also broke his nose. He evidently also is dealing with a small fracture in his right thumb. Cowgill needs surgery and will be out 4-5 weeks. Grant Green has replaced him on the roster.

Collin Cowgill got stitches in his nose Saturday.

Cowgill was hit by a pitch in the nose in Saturday night's game versus the Rangers. He was taken to a local hospital to have more tests done. The outfielder will likely be unavailable for Sunday's first-half finale.

Collin Cowgill left Saturday's game against the Rangers after being hit by a pitch in the nose.

Cowgill looked to be fine other than a gash on his nose. Efren Navarro replaced him in left field.

Collin Cowgill smacked a walk-off solo homer over the left field fence to give the Angels a 2-1, 14-inning victory against the A's on Tuesday.

With two strikes, reliever Jeff Francis tossed an arrow-straight lazy fastball on the inner half of the plate which turned Cowgill's eyes into saucers. Cowgill got the bat head under it and blasted the ball over Yoenis Cespedes' head to end a game that lasted nearly five hours. The Angels close to within 2.5 games of the first-place A's. Riding a five-game winning streak, Los Angeles is closing the gap quickly.

Collin Cowgill went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer that gave the Angels all of their runs Saturday against the A's.

Cowgill was hitting ninth tonight even though the Angels were facing a lefty in Tommy Milone. It's his ability to hit lefties that should keep him in the majors after Josh Hamilton returns, though he does figure to take on a reduced role and lose most of his fantasy value in AL-only leagues.

Collin Cowgill (hip) is back in the Angels' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Astros.

Cowgill sat out Monday because of tightness in his hip flexor. It was never a serious concern. He is batting eighth and starting in center field on Tuesday.
Tue, May 20, 2014 05:57:00 PM

Collin Cowgill is not in Monday's lineup due to some hip flexor tightness.

However, he is available off the bench. Cowgill should be available to start as soon as Tuesday.

Collin Cowgill homered and singled before being removed for a pinch-hitter Saturday against the Mets.

Cowgill started against the lefty Jon Niese and was replaced by J.B. Shuck after the righty came in. Since Shuck will continue to start against right-handers for now, Cowgill will have limited value in AL-only leagues.
