Scott Richmond has signed a one-year, $600,000 contract with the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Organization.

Richmond made 24 starts for the Blue Jays back in 2009, but he's mostly been in the minors since then. He's struggled the last two years at Triple-A, posting a 7.33 ERA in 2011 and 5.61 ERA this past season.

Richmond cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last Friday. The 32-year-old right-hander allowed two runs over three innings in a brief stint with the Blue Jays earlier this summer and has a 5.89 ERA in 24 games at the Triple-A level this year.

This confirms a tweet by Baseball Canada. Richmond, 32, has an ugly 5.46 ERA and 71/28 K/BB ratio over 15 starts and one relief appearance this season with Triple-A Las Vegas. He made one appearance with the Blue Jays last season, but hasn't pitched regularly in the big leagues since 2009.

Richmond is stretched out as a starter, but he'll presumably be used as a long man out of the bullpen. He dealt with some arm fatigue during spring training but is apparently over that issue.

Richmond was sidetracked this spring by a bit of arm fatigue and will open the year in the minors to work out any remaining issues. Once healthy, he will serve as insurance for the big league starting rotation.

It was his second bullpen session since being shut down due to shoulder soreness earlier this month. Richmond is scheduled to throw an inning against the Braves on Thursday, but he remains a longshot to make the Opening Day roster.

Scott Richmond will be shut down for the next 5-6 days to due to fatigue in his throwing arm.

Richmond surrendered three earned runs in a two-inning outing against the Pirates last Thursday in his only appearance of the spring. The Jays are hoping that he will be able to return to the mound by the end of next week. He's a longshot to make the Opening Day roster.

Richmond never pitched in the majors last year due to shoulder problems. The Blue Jays have kept him on the 40-man roster, hoping to get something from him this season, but it's hard to see him making the team out of spring training.

Scott Richmond has been placed on the minor league disabled list with a shoulder issue, according to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.

Richmond was 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA over his first three starts with High-A Dunedin. The Jays are downplaying the severity of the injury, but you can't help but be concerned at this setback.
