Castillo hasn't played in the majors since 2009 and batted just .262/.285/.366 at Triple-A in the Braves organization this past season. But, he does offer positional versatility, having the ability to play pretty much all over the diamond. He'll be depth at Triple-A.

Braves signed C-OF Wilkin Castillo to a minor league contract.

The 25-year-old Castillo can play all over the diamond, which makes him good organizational depth. He played in 22 games in the majors for the Reds between 2008-2009 and will need a spectacular spring training to have a chance at making the Braves roster.

Reds signed C-OF Wilkin Castillo to a minor league contract.

The 25-year-old Castillo had a hit and an RBI in his lone at-bat with the Reds after being called up June 20. He suffered a season-ending torn labrum in his right shoulder shortly thereafter, but is expected to be fine by the start of spring training. He'll compete for a roster spot.

Reds placed catcher-outfielder Wilkin Castillo on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 21, with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

Castillo is done for the season. He would've struggled to find playing time this year on the big league level anyway, so he'll reset and aim for a strong 2010. The 25-year-old had a hit and an RBI in his lone at-bat with the Reds after being called up June 20 and was 2-for-3 in the majors this season.

Reds recalled catcher-outfielder Wilkin Castillo from Triple-A Louisville.

Matt Maloney and Castillo swap roster spots again. Castillo was 1-for-2 in a brief three-day stay with the Reds earlier this month. He doesn't offer any fantasy value.

Castillo had a two-day stint with Cincinnati earlier this week and did not play in a game. He's hit .196 at Triple-A this season with a 20/1 K/BB ratio in 107 plate appearances. Needless to say, he has no fantasy value.

Wilkin Castillo went 3-for-3 on Tuesday, making him 8-for-13 since being called up.

This after he hit .190 in 17 days with Triple-A Louisville after coming over in the Adam Dunn deal. Castillo played left field tonight. There shouldn't be any real upside here, but NL-only leagues could grab him while he's hot.

Reds recalled utlityman Wilkin Castillo from Triple-A Louisville.

Castillo was involved in the Adam Dunn trade a few weeks ago. He's fairly versatile in the field but was hitting just .190 with no homers and no RBI in 42 at-bats for Louisville. Yeah, he's not a fantasy guy.

Reds acquired catcher Wilkin Castillo from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

He's the first "official" player to be named in the Adam Dunn deal, with Micah Owings expected to be the other. A nice haul for Cincy, but not any true impact players. The 24-year-old Castillo hit .254 with six homers and 47 RBI in 386 at-bats for Triple-A Tucson, but he's known primarily for his defensive prowess - he can also play both middle infield spots. He should see action with the Reds in September.
