Robbie Grossman went 2-for-3 with a sac bunt on Monday to raise his average to .231.
Grossman was hitting .220 prior to his current five-game hitting streak. He's been a fixture in the Houston lineup lately with George Springer out, but ideally, he'll be a fourth outfielder next year behind Springer, Dexter Fowler and either Jake Marisnick or perhaps an offseason addition. If the Astros don't add a starter, then Grossman will probably get a chance to battle for Marisnick's spot. Sep 22 - 11:00 PM

Date:

Robbie Grossman went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Tuesday's loss to the Indians.

Grossman fell victim to Indians starter Corey Kluber for three of the four strikeouts, and he wasn't alone -- the Klubot fanned 14 Astros batters in the game. Closer Cody Allen did the honors in the ninth. He also worked a walk in the game, a good portrait of Grossman as a hitter -- he has 96 strikeouts in 322 at-bats, but Grossman also owns an on-base percentage 105 points higher than his batting average.

Robbie Grossman went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI in a win over the Angels Sunday.

Grossman delivered a two-run single in the fifth inning, his third straight game with an RBI. During a six-game hitting streak, Grossman is 10-for-29 (.345) with four RBI and three runs scored. A player with good on-base skills, Grossman could be playing for a bench spot next year.
Sep 14 - 9:01 PM

Robbie Grossman went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Angels.

Grossman led off the bottom of the first inning with a double and scored the first run. It was a sign of things to come, as the Astros put eight runs on C.J. Wilson and the Angels. That included Grossman's RBI double in the fourth. Grossman won't hit for average, but he's got on-base skills that will keep him atop the Astros lineup for much of the final month for those interested in an AL-only flier.
Sep 3 - 12:16 AM

Robbie Grossman went 0-for-4 at the dish in his return to the lineup Saturday.

Grossman hadn't played the last couple days due to a sprained ankle, but it shouldn't be an issue going forward. He's hitting .212/.326/.320 for the Astros this season.
Aug 31 - 4:15 AM

Robbie Grossman is not in Thursday's lineup against the Rangers due to a sprained left ankle.

Grossman tweaked the ankle in Wednesday's game. He can be considered day-to-day. Marc Krauss will make the start in left field Thursday and Marwin Gonzalez will hit leadoff.
Aug 28 - 4:54 PM

Robbie Grossman went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI against the Red Sox on Friday.

Grossman had an RBI single in the fifth inning and later added a solo blast in the seventh. He's hitting .344 (11-for-32) with a .432 on-base percentage of his last eight games. The Astros have used him out of the leadoff spot for each of the last seven, so he should be active in AL-only formats right now.
Aug 16 - 12:35 AM

Robbie Grossman belted a two-run homer in the eighth inning on Friday, powering the Astros to a 4-3 victory over the Rangers.

Grossman's blast off Neal Cotts broke a 1-1 tie and put the Astros ahead to stay. He also singled, doubled and walked in the game, finishing 3-for-3. He has struggled to this point in the season, slashing just .203/.328/.323 with five homers and 23 RBI and could soon lose playing time once Alex Presley is cleared to return.
Aug 9 - 12:46 AM

Robbie Grossman went 4-for-5 with a homer and a double as the Astros beat the Rangers 8-4 on Wednesday.

Grossman, who was just recalled Tuesday after a couple of weeks back in Triple-A, snapped an 0-for-28 slump that dated back to June 9. He'll get a few more starts this week with Dexter Fowler and Alex Presley out, but he might not be much of a factor afterwards.
Jul 9 - 11:41 PM

Astros recalled OF Robbie Grossman from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

He'll take the place of the injured Alex Presley (oblique) on the active roster. Grossman is batting just .158/.273/.263 across 35 games for the Astros this season, but he should have some appeal in AL-only formats.
Jul 8 - 10:50 AM

Astros optioned OF Robbie Grossman to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Grossman has hit only .158/.273/.263 across 35 games for the Astros this season and is being sent to the minors for the second time. L.J. Hoes has replaced him on the roster.
Jun 25 - 3:35 PM

Robbie Grossman went 2-for-4 with a stolen base against the Royals on Tuesday.

Grossman was recalled on Sunday and has started both games in left field, swatting two singles in Tuesday's win. He also stole his second base of the season in two attempts. The 24-year-old has the ability to go deep as well, making him an interesting name in AL-only leagues.
May 27 - 11:45 PM

Astros recalled OF Robbie Grossman from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Grossman will serve as the Astros everyday left fielder upon his return. He struggled in his first stint with the team, slashing just .125/.236/.313 with two homers and six RBI in 14 games. He could be worth a look in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues.
May 25 - 7:06 PM

Astros optioned OF Robbie Grossman to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Grossman went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts Tuesday, which was apparently the final straw as it dropped his batting line to .125/.236/.313. The Astros are calling up top prospect George Springer to take Grossman's spot on the roster. Grossman will get another shot later this summer.
Apr 16 - 12:29 AM

Robbie Grossman hit a two-run homer and walked twice against the Blue Jays on Thursday.

That's an improvement. Grossman entered the night with a .063 average, no runs scored and one RBI in 32 at-bats this season.
