Robbie Grossman celebrated his Twins’ debut on Friday by going 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI against the Blue Jays.
Grossman, who signed with the Twins earlier this week, knocked in a run with a double in the second inning before adding an RBI single in the seventh and a solo homer in the ninth. However, his big night with the bat wasn’t enough to keep Minnesota from dropping to 10-31 on the year. Grossman has some on-base ability and should see semi-regular at-bats in the outfield before some youngsters get another try later this summer. He’s not worth adding in mixed leagues, but he could carve out some value in AL-only formats in the short-term. May 20 - 11:45 PM

Twins purchased the contract of OF Robbie Grossman from Triple-A Rochester.

Grossman takes the place of Eddie Rosario. He had been with the Indians prior to opting out of his minor league contract on Monday. At Triple-A Columbus in the Tribe system, Rosario batted .256/.370/.453 across 139 plate appearances. He is just a .240/.327/.341 hitter for his major league career and can be safely avoided in fantasy leagues.

Twins signed OF Robbie Grossman to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Rochester.

Grossman just opted out of his minor league contract with the Indians, where he was hitting .256/.370/.453 over 139 plate appearances in Triple-A. The former Astro will serve as outfield depth in the minors with his new organization.

Robbie Grossman has opted out of his minor league deal with the Indians.

Sensing there was no promotion coming, Grossman decided to take his act elsewhere after hitting .256 with six homers and 13 RBI in 34 games for Triple-A Columbus. The 26-year-old made 24 appearances at the big league level last year, hitting .143 in 49 at-bats for Houston. He shouldn't have much trouble finding a new team.

Robbie Grossman has accepted an assignment to Triple-A Columbus.

Grossman could have opted out of his minor league contract, but he has decided to stick with the Indians and their checkered outfield depth chart. The 26-year-old could be called on early if there's another injury. He owns a .240/.327/.341 career batting line.

Indians signed OF Robbie Grossman to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

It's a good landing spot for Grossman, as the Indians are desperate for outfield depth, especially with Michael Brantley (shoulder) not expected by Opening Day. Grossman batted .240/.327/.341 over the last three seasons with the Astros and should have a shot to crack the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder.

Astros released OF Robbie Grossman.

Grossman batted just .143/.222/.245 in 54 plate appearances this year at the major league level and he wasn't much better at Triple-A, but there should be a team out there willing to offer the 26-year-outfielder a non-guaranteed minor league contract.

Astros optioned OF Robbie Grossman to Triple-A Fresno.

Grossman is sporting an ugly .143/.222/.245 with the big club this season. George Springer (concussion) will return from the disabled list Wednesday.

Robbie Grossman delivered a two-run single in the top of the 11th to help the Astros beat the A's 5-4 on Friday.

This one was completely scoreless for nine innings before the Astros and A's both came through with two runs in the 10th. Grossman's single through the left side of the infield in the 11th made him the hero when he could have easily been a goat; he was swinging at a 3-0 pitch from a pitcher in Eric O'Flaherty who had walked the first two guys he faced and whose only out came on a sac bunt. Plus, Jose Altuve was on deck. Grossman, though, found the hole and knocked in both runners, raising his average from .148 to .179. Fortunately, the Astros went on to add one more run from there, because the A's again came back with two runs, leaving them just a bit short.

Robbie Grossman (quad) has been cleared for game action.

Grossman had to leave Wednesday's game with a bruised quad, but he's OK after a day of rest. The 25-year-old is competing for a backup outfielder job.

Robbie Grossman (quad) is aiming to return to Grapefruit League action on Friday.

Grossman suffered a left quad contusion Wednesday when he collided with teammate Jonathan Villar in an exhibition game. Grossman and Villar should both be fine for the beginning of the regular season.

Robbie Grossman left Wednesday's Grapefruit League game with a left quad contusion.

Grossman was involved in a collision with teammate Jonathan Villar earlier in the game. The Astros decided to play things safe, but it's not a major concern. Consider him day-to-day.

Robbie Grossman doubled, singled and walked in his three plate appearances Tuesday against the Pirates.

If Jake Marisnick and Jonathan Singleton play to a draw this spring, Grossman's hot bat would give the Astros extra incentive to demote Marisnick and keep Singleton. Grossman is currently 11-for-24 with four walks, and he gives the Astros their best leadoff option if they decide they want to hit Jose Altuve second.

Robbie Grossman went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI as the Astros beat the Phillies 6-3 on Monday.

That Evan Gattis now seems set to spend more time in left field than at first base this spring isn't very good news for Grossman. He probably belongs in a bench role anyway, and he might get one, though it doesn't help his case that he has an option year left and Alex Presley doesn't.

Robbie Grossman went 2-for-3 with a sac bunt on Monday to raise his average to .231.

Grossman was hitting .220 prior to his current five-game hitting streak. He's been a fixture in the Houston lineup lately with George Springer out, but ideally, he'll be a fourth outfielder next year behind Springer, Dexter Fowler and either Jake Marisnick or perhaps an offseason addition. If the Astros don't add a starter, then Grossman will probably get a chance to battle for Marisnick's spot.
