Robbie Grossman hit his 11th home run of the season in a loss to the Tigers on Tuesday.
Grossman was the only Twins hitter able to get to Tigers starter Matt Boyd on the evening, as the southpaw allowed just three hits in his eight innings of work. After a strong start to the year, the 27-year-old hit a lull in August but is back in a big way in September, going 11-for-28 (.392) with two homers this month. He's hitting .280/.388/.459 with 11 homers, 36 RBI and 46 runs scored on the year, and could be playing himself into the 2017 conversation with a good finish. Sep 20 - 11:16 PM

Date:

Robbie Grossman finished 4-for-4 Sunday against the Mets.

Grossman is mostly playing against lefties right now, but since the Twins haven't faced any in a while, he got the nod against a righty today in his first start in four days. After fading in July, he's hit well in his limited action of late, and he's back up to .280 with an .835 OPS in 293 at-bats.
Sep 18 - 4:20 PM

Robbie Grossman went 3-for-4 with a homer and a double Wednesday in his return to the starting lineup.

Grossman hadn't started a game since Aug. 28 because of a mild oblique strain. He'll likely play primarily against lefties the rest of the way.
Sep 7 - 11:51 PM

Robbie Grossman (oblique) came off the bench Monday against the Royals and was hit by a pitch in his lone plate appearance.

Grossman entered as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning and finished the game in left field. The 26-year-old suffered an oblique strain late last month, but he's apparently making quick progress.
Sep 6 - 9:19 AM

Robbie Grossman (oblique) entered as a pinch-runner on Sunday against the White Sox.

That should be a sign that his return is close. Grossman had been held on the bench for the Twins since August 29 due to a strained oblique -- an injury that can sometimes take weeks to fully recover from.
Sep 5 - 9:32 AM

Robbie Grossman (oblique) took swings off a tee Friday and said he's "progressing."

Grossman has battled a strained oblique this week. It's unclear when he might be available, but the Twins can play it safe with expanded rosters.
Sep 2 - 5:32 PM

Robbie Grossman (oblique) will be available to pinch-hit off the bench in Wednesday's game against the Indians.

Grossman continues to undergo treatment for recent oblique discomfort and sat out Tuesday's game against the Tribe. He was available off the bench for that contest and will likewise be available on Wednesday. Expect him to be returned to full health in the next few days unless he encounters a setback.
Aug 31 - 6:48 PM

Robbie Grossman is day-to-day with oblique discomfort.

He is not in the Twins' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Indians, but the outfielder could be available off the bench. Grossman is batting .269/.384/.437 with nine home runs and 31 RBI in 78 games this season.
Aug 30 - 4:51 PM

Robbie Grossman went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's win over the Royals.

The multi-hit game was his first since July 28, including his eighth homer of the year. The 26-year-old is batting .270/.389/.443 in 67 games and has become a regular in the Twins lineup in recent months.
Aug 13 - 10:30 PM

Robbie Grossman hit a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Astros.

Grossman finished 1-for-4 with the two-run blast off Astros starter Mike Fiers in the fifth inning, one of three homers the Twins hit off the right-hander in the game. The home run was Grossman's seventh of the season. Grossman's tale is that of the "he is what we think he is" variety, as two months ago the 26-year-old's robust .333/.459/.650 line demanded regular playing time. He got it, and Grossman is now slashing .266/.392/.436 through 64 games. Not much to see here.
Aug 10 - 12:12 AM

Robbie Grossman went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in a win over the Orioles on Thursday.

Grossman had a single and a double and also collected a pair of walks, reaching base in four of his five plate appearances on the night. It has been quite a year thus far for Grossman, who is hitting .280 with a .864 OPS in 57 games. It's no surprise, then, that he's basically taken over as the everyday left fielder, and the 26-year-old should continue to find regular playing time going forward.
Jul 28 - 10:41 PM

Robbie Grossman homered and walked against the White Sox on Thursday.

Grossman ends June with a .237 average for the month, but with 23 walks and five homers, he remained a solid player anyway. We wouldn't expect him to continue to hit for as much power.
Jun 30 - 5:42 PM

Robbie Grossman is absent from the Twins starting lineup on Saturday.

The hot-hitting outfielder will get a breather against right-hander Michael Pineda. Danny Santana is starting in his place and hitting second for the Twins.
Jun 18 - 10:59 AM

Robbie Grossman went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI as the Twins fell to the Marlins on Thursday evening in Minnesota.

Grossman's two-run double knotted the score up at 2-2 in the sixth inning. He has been outstanding since his promotion from Triple-A, slashing .328/.449/.641 with four homers and 13 RBI in only 78 plate appearances. While he won't continue hitting at this clip, he's worth using as a fourth or fifth outfielder in deeper mixed leagues until he cools down.
Jun 10 - 12:50 AM

Robbie Grossman went 3-for-4 with three doubles in Tuesday's loss to the A's.

Grossman now has six doubles on the season. Since the Twins called him up on May 18, he is hitting a stellar .361/.452/.694 with two homers and nine RBI across 36 at-bats. That triple-slash is buoyed by the small sample size, of course, but he has done enough to make him worth a speculative pick-up in deeper AL-only formats. Just keep in mind that Grossman does not have a good track record when given extended playing time in the past. The Astros handed him a career-high 360 at-bats in 2014 and he responded with a .233/.337/.333 batting line.
