Santos has spent the last two seasons going back and forth between Triple-A and the majors with the Tigers, and evidently he's ready to look for a new home. He's not going to see much playing time wherever he ends up.

The move clears a spot for catcher Bryan Holaday on the active roster. Santos was called up from the minors at the end of May and went 1-for-8 during his brief stay with the big club. There's a decent chance he'll pass through waivers unclaimed.
