White Sox signed RHP Jeff Gray to a minor league contract.

Gray had a rough go of it with the Twins in 2012, compiling a 5.71 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 26/22 K/BB ratio over 52 innings of work. He may have a chance to compete for a job in the White Sox bullpen, but remains irrelevant for fantasy purposes.

Twins sent RHP Jeff Gray outright to Triple-A Rochester.

The move clears him from the 40-man roster. It was long overdue, as Gray has a rough 5.71 ERA and 26/22 K/BB ratio over 52 innings this season.

Twins claimed RHP Jeff Gray off waivers from the Mariners.

Gray, 29, has a 4.57 ERA over 66 major league appearances between the Athletics, White Sox, Mariners and Cubs, averaging 5.1 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9. He is unlikely to make a significant impact in Minnesota.

Jeff Gray picked up his first career save, tossing 1 2/3 shutout innings in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Gray took the mound with one out and the bases loaded in the eighth inning, retiring both batters to preserve the 12-7 lead. He shut down the Indians in the ninth, giving up only a harmless single. Despite Brandon League's blown save in the first game, don't expect Gray to get another save opportunity this season.

Mariners claimed RHP Jeff Gray off waivers from the White Sox.

The Sox were hoping to keep Gray around as depth at Triple-A, but Seattle pounced on him. He posted a 2.70 ERA and 7/4 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings before being designated for assignment Wednesday. Gray will join the Mariners bullpen Saturday in Cleveland.

He was cleared to make room for Jake Peavy on the active roster. Gray, 29, posted a 2.70 ERA and 7/4 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings after being called up in the early part of April. There's a good chance he sticks in the organization.

Cubs sent RHP Jeff Gray outright to Triple-A Iowa.

He didn't deserve a spot on the 40-man roster, anyway. Gray, who turns 29 in November, posted a 6.75 ERA in seven appearances with the Cubs this season and wasn't much better with Triple-A Iowa, compiling a 5.66 ERA and 25/15 K/BB ratio over 35 innings.

Cubs optioned RHP Jeff Gray to Triple-A Iowa.

It's about time. Gray has been pretty unreliable since the Cubs called him up in mid-April, posting a 6.75 ERA and a 1.82 WHIP in seven relief appearances. He'll serve as an emergency reliever all year.

Cubs optioned RHP Jeff Gray to Triple-A Iowa.

Gray failed to win a spot in the Cubs' bullpen this spring, mostly due to a strained groin muscle that he suffered back in February. If Esmailin Caridad or James Russell struggles early on, he'll be called back up.

Jeff Gray (groin) threw 30 pitches off a mound on Friday.

Gray, who was acquired from the Athletics as part of the Jake Fox trade in January, has yet to make an appearance this spring due to a strained groin he suffered in early February. He's hoping to change that real soon. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a 3.76 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 19/4 K/BB ratio in 26 1/3 innings with Oakland last season.

Gray finished the 2009 season with a 3.76 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 19/4 K/BB ratio in 26 1/3 innings of relief. The 28-year-old was a bit more impressive at Triple-A Sacramento, where he posted 1.54 ERA in 41 frames. He'll serve as a nice middle reliever for the Cubs in 2010.
