He's taking Vinnie Pestano's spot on the roster. Lee, who was up for a day last week but didn't appear in a game, holds a career 2.94 ERA and 327/85 K/BB ratio over 266 minor league relief innings.

Lee will provide some bullpen depth until the team needs a No. 5 starter. After missing most of 2012 following Tommy John surgery, Lee has returned strong this season, posting a 2.76 ERA and 25/8 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings across three levels. He'll be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.

Lee missed most of 2012 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he's flashed plenty of promise in the past. The 26-year-old should be fully recovered around midseason in 2013 but probably won't be big league-ready until 2014.

Lee has been out since mid-April with elbow issues, and doctors have decided that he won't recover without surgery. The relief prospect will now be sidelined well into 2013.

Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer expects the Indians to invite prospect right-hander Chen-Chang Lee to spring training.

Lee, 25, was named the Indians' minor league pitcher of the year after posting a 2.40 ERA and 99/23 K/BB ratio over 71 1/3 innings this season between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. The Taiwan native could contend for a spot in the big-league bullpen.

Indians signed RHP Chen-Chang Lee to a minor league contract.

Lee, 21, allowed two runs in nine innings for Taiwan in the Olympics. He held Cuba's lineup to one run in 6 2/3 innings. The Indians said they have been scouting him since age 16. He doesn't immediately become one of the team's top pitching prospects, but he could have a future as a reliever.
