Gil Velazquez had his best game as a Marlin in Thursday’s loss to the Braves, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

This is the first time that the 32-year-old journeyman infielder has received more than eight at-bats in a major league season. He’s held his own to this point, hitting .270 (10-for-37) with one RBI. His RBI double off Tommy Hanson in the fourth inning was the first extra-base hit of his MLB career.

The 31-year-old batted .328/.399/.466 with eight homers, 58 RBI and an .865 OPS over 494 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. He'll provide some infield depth in September, but won't carry any fantasy value.
