27-year-old Matt Clark hit his first big-league homer Wednesday in the Brewers' win over the Marlins.

Clark, a 2008 12th-round pick of the Padres, was making his second major league start at first base after being called up on Sept. 2. The Brewers don't have a lot to lose by trying some younger players right now, so Clark could get another start Thursday against right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. NL-only leaguers may want to pick him up.

Brewers purchased the contract of INF Matt Clark from Triple-A Nashville.

Clark signed with the Brewers in early July after being granted his release by the Mets and now he'll make his major league debut. The 27-year-old mashed 26 homers this year in Triple-A and will provide some pop off the bench for Milwaukee in September.

Brewers signed INF Matt Clark to a minor league contract.

The 27-year-old slugger was pounding the ball at Double-A Binghamton, slashing .297/.380/.498 with 10 homers and 46 RBI in 67 contests, but the Mets were unable to find room for him on the 40-man roster. With the Brewers struggling to get consistent offensive production from the first base position, he could become an option for them at some point this season.

Mets released 1B Matt Clark.

Clark was batting .297/.380/.498 with 10 home runs and 46 RBI in 67 games this season at Double-A Binghamton, but the Mets had no room for him after making multiple organizational moves on Wednesday. The 27-year-old first baseman should find a new club quickly.

Mets signed INF/OF Matt Clark to a minor league contract.

The deal includes an invitation to Major League spring training. The 27-year-old spent the 2013 campaign in Japan where he slashed .238/.328/.457 with 25 homers and 70 RBI in 407 at-bats. He'll compete for a bench spot with the Mets.

Matt Clark has signed with the Chunichi Dragons in Japan's Central League.

Clark, a 12th round pick of the Padres from the 2008 draft, hit .290/.367/.506 with 22 homers and 77 RBI with Triple-A Tuscon in 2012. He was unable to crack the major league roster during his five seasons in the Padres organization, but is still only 26-years-old.
