Blue Jays placed Steve Tolleson (groin) on the 15-day disabled list.

May 30 - 10:18 PM

Steve Tolleson went 2-for-2 with two walks, a steal and two runs scored Thursday against the Angels.

As usual, it was the Blue Jays' dynamic middle-infield combination leading the way, with Tolleson and Ryan Goins reaching base in a combined seven of eight plate appearances. Who needs Devon Travis and Jose Reyes anyway?
May 21 - 9:48 PM

Blue Jays sent INF Steve Tolleson outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

The Blue Jays designated Tolleson for assignment on April 24. He got 16 plate appearances with the team this season and didn't do much with them, but over 170 at-bats in 2014, he hit .253/.308/.371. He offers some versatility and his bat plays OK for a utility role.

Blue Jays designated INF Steve Tolleson for assignment.

The 31-year-old hit just .200/.250/.400 with five strikeouts in his 16 plate appearances with the Jays. With his versatility, there's a chance that Tolleson could attract interest on waivers, otherwise he'll continue to provide organizational infield depth for the Jays.

X-rays on Steve Tolleson's right hand came back negative.

Tolleson was hit by a pitch during Saturday's game. The 31-year-old has a shot to crack the Opening Day roster as a utility player with Maicer Izturis (groin) slated to open the year on the disabled list.
Mar 29 - 12:40 PM

Steve Tolleson will have precautionary X-rays taken of his right hand after being hit by a pitch Saturday.

"I'm not too worried about it," Tolleson told reporters Saturday. Indications are that it's not broken, but the Jays just want to be sure. More will be known about his injury status after the results of the test come back.
Mar 28 - 4:11 PM

Steve Tolleson hit a three-run homer off Ken Giles to lead the Jays past the Phillies 4-1 on Thursday.

With Devon Travis looking probable for the second base job, it'll probably be between Tolleson and Ryan Goins for a utility gig, with Tolleson having the advantage of being out of options. Tolleson is hitting .259/.310/.556 in 27 at-bats this spring.
Mar 26 - 5:33 PM

Steve Tolleson went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer Wednesday against the Rays.

Tolleson would seem to be a big beneficiary of Ramon Santiago's broken collarbone, but even so, his chances of winning a utility job might hinge on Maicer Izturis being named the starter at second base. Izturis is going to be on the roster either way, but Ryan Goins and Devon Travis can both be sent down if they don't start at second base.
