Chia-Jen Lo - R - Astros

Astros purchased the contract of RHP Chia-Jen Lo from High-A Lancaster.

Lo is now protected from next month's Rule 5 Draft. The 26-year-old native of Taiwan had a 1.42 ERA and 20/4 K/BB ratio over 19 innings this year in High-A ball.

Chia-Jen Lo - R - Astros

Chia-Jen Lo struck out four in two scoreless innings out of the pen for Double-A Corpus Christi on Thursday.

Lo is 24 and he had a 2.31 ERA in 39 innings out of the pen after moving up to Double-A last year, so there's a good argument that he should be in Triple-A right now. He could be a candidate to help the Astros relief corps later this season.

Chia-Jen Lo - R - Astros

Astros signed RHP Chia-Jen Lo to a minor league contract.

The deal, which was reported by TaiwanBaseball.blogspot.com a couple of weeks ago and confirmed by the Astros today, is believed to contain a bonus of about $250,000. The Astros outbid the Red Sox and Royals for the 22-year-old's services. Lo is likely to be limited to the pen, but he could move quickly and maybe even debut in the second half of next year. A future as a setup man is possible.

	6	Paul Clemens Sidelined Paul Clemens left Monday's appearance with a right pinkie injury. Clemens was struck by a comebacker and appeared to dislocate the finger, but the Astros' trainer popped it back in place and he stayed in to face one more batter. The club reconsidered after that, though, and decided to remove him. Clemens saved the bullpen with 5 1/3 scoreless relief frames after Erik Bedard lasted only 1/3 of an inning. Apr 16
