Athletics designated OF Casper Wells for assignment.

It's the third time he's been designated for assignment in the last month. Wells is a .244/.314/.431 career hitter but has some pop and can play all three outfield spots. He figures to again draw interest on waivers.

Athletics acquired OF Casper Wells from the Blue Jays for cash considerations.

The A's will be Wells' third team in two weeks. He is a .246/.317/.435 career hitter and is doubtful to make a big impact in Oakland. The 28-year-old outfielder can go on being ignored in standard mixed fantasy leagues.

Blue Jays designated OF Casper Wells for assignment.

The Blue Jays claimed Wells off waivers from the Mariners just five days ago but needed to clear a roster spot Monday to promote right-hander Ramon Ortiz. Wells should draw interest again on the waiver wire.

Blue Jays claimed OF Casper Wells off waivers from the Mariners.

Wells was designated for assignment by the Mariners late last month after Jason Bay won the final spot on the Opening Day roster. Alex Anthopoulos is very active on the waiver wire, so it's no surprise to see him take a chance on Wells, who owns a .264/.349/.489 batting line and an .838 OPS against southpaws in his career. He could end up being a useful piece for Toronto.
Apr 10 - 2:02 PM

Mariners designated OF Casper Wells for assignment.

Wells lost out to Jason Bay for the final outfield spot and was out of minor league options. He hasn't hit a ton at the big league level but has a bit of pop and can play all three outfield positions. It wouldn't be a surprise if he's scooped up rather quickly on waivers.
Mar 31 - 4:08 PM

Casper Wells (neck) is expected to need at least one more day before returning to action.

Wells has been out of commission since having to leave last Saturday's game with a stiff neck. It shouldn't be a long-term concern.
Mar 12 - 7:13 PM

Casper Wells (neck) is expected to be back in the lineup Sunday.

Wells missed Saturday's game with neck stiffness. He's competing for a bench job this spring and has made a good argument with two homers and 12 RBI.
Mar 10 - 11:01 AM

Casper Wells was scratched from Saturday's Cactus League game with neck stiffness.

This doesn't appear to be anything serious. Franklin Gutierrez will replace him in the Mariners' lineup.
Mar 9 - 12:28 PM

Casper Wells launched a three-run homer and added an RBI double in Thursday's win over the Royals.

He and Stefen Romero were the big sticks in the game, as Romero had four hits and drove in seven runs. Wells already has 12 RBI this spring, but his role this year with the Mariners is a little unclear.
Mar 7 - 6:36 PM

Casper Wells homered to supply two of the Mariners' three runs in Friday's loss to the Padres.

The Mariners have Michael Morse penciled in as the everyday left fielder, making Wells' role unclear at the moment. He certainly deserves to start against left-handers, but as is, the only way that will happen is if the Mariners opt to drop Michael Saunders into a platoon role. The problem there is that Saunders had a reverse split last year, hitting .261/.307/.467 against lefties. A trade for Wells might be a possibility.
Feb 22 - 6:09 PM

Casper Wells homered and drove in five runs in Wednesday's win over the Angels.

Wells knocked in all five runs in back-to-back innings, singling in two in the sixth before blasting a three-run shot to cap off the Mariners' six-run seventh. It's his second home run of the series, and he finishes with 10 longballs to go along with a .228 batting mark.

Casper Wells homered, doubled and gunned down Mike Trout at second base in Monday's loss to the Angels.

Both hits came off left-hander C.J. Wilson. Wells is probably going to be a platoon player going forward, but he should be a pretty useful one against left-handers. He has seven homers in 129 at-bats against lefties this year. Too bad he's hitting under .200 against righties.

Casper Wells was a late scratch from Saturday's starting lineup due to a stiff neck.

Eric Thames will replace him in left field and hit eighth in the Mariners' lineup. Wells hasn't started a game since September 9 and is hitting a disappointing .222/.287/.381 with eight homers and 29 RBI on the season.

Mariners recalled OF Casper Wells from Triple-A Tacoma.

Wells has batted just .226/.291/.391 in 74 games this season in the majors. He holds zero fantasy value.
