Dodgers signed RHP Anthony Slama to a minor league contract.
Slama had been in independent ball after being released by the Twins last year. He really struggled in 2013 but boasts a 2.50 ERA with 485 strikeouts over 374 2/3 career minor league innings, so the 30-year-old is worth a shot. Sun, Aug 17, 2014 09:16:00 AM

Slama pitched well with Triple-A Rochester last season, but had an ugly 13.50 ERA in 14 relief appearances this season. The 29-year-old figures to draw interest elsewhere.

Anthony Slama has been very impressive early in spring training and could be a candidate to win a spot in the Twins' bullpen.

The 29-year-old posted a spectacular 1.24 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 56/18 K/BB ratio over 36 1/3 innings at Triple-A Rochester in 2012. A broken fibula sidelined him for eight weeks last season, but he's now fully healthy and ready to break camp with the team. However, it's unlikely he'll be fantasy relevant.

Twins sent RHP Anthony Slama outright to Triple-A Rochester.

Slama appeared in just two games for the Twins this season but boasted a 2.92 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 42/16 K/BB ratio over 37 Triple-A innings. He was shut down late in the year with a flexor pronator muscle strain in his right elbow but did not require surgery.

Anthony Slama has been diagnosed with a flexor pronator muscle strain in his right elbow.

Slama will not need surgery at this time and instead will report to Fort Myers, FL to begin strengthening/flexibility exercises. His season seems likely to be over, though at least he won't have to go under the knife. Slama has a 2.92 ERA and 42/16 K/BB ratio over 37 innings with Triple-A Rochester this season.

Anthony Slama had his right elbow examined by Twins' doctors Monday.

Slama was placed on the minor league disabled list last week with right elbow soreness. Similar to his teammate Kyle Gibson, he is scheduled to undergo further testing Tuesday. The 27-year-old right-hander has made two appearances with the Twins this season and has a 2.92 ERA and 42/16 K/BB ratio over 37 innings with Triple-A Rochester.

Anthony Slama has been sent to Minnesota to have his right elbow examined.

Slama hasn't pitched since July 1 due to elbow issues. He'd given no indication by his performance that he might be hurt, as he posted a 1.54 ERA while striking out 17 over his last 11 2/3 innings for Triple-A Rochester, but obviously the Twins are concerned. We'll update his status when more is known.

Twins optioned RHP Anthony Slama to Triple-A Rochester.

He was cleared to make room for Tuesday's starter Francisco Liriano. Slama tossed 2 1/3 innings during his brief stay with the big club.

Twins recalled RHP Anthony Slama from Triple-A Rochester.

He'll take the place of the injured Francisco Liriano on the active roster. Slama, 27, had a 3.70 ERA and 24/11 K/BB ratio over his first 24 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season. He posted a 7.71 ERA over five appearances with the Twins last season. Look for him in middle relief.

Anthony Slama (elbow) is scheduled to throw in a minor league game Friday in Twins camp.

Slama was found to have a stress reaction in his right elbow in early March and has been taking it easy ever since. The 26-year-old is already ticketed for the minors, though he should climb his way to the majors at some point this year. He made his big league debut in 2010.

An MRI on Anthony Slama's right elbow came back negative.

While that's good news, the 26-year-old right-hander was found to have a stress reaction in one of the bones in his elbow. Doctors told him that the condition occurred because Slama's elbow hyperextends by 15 degrees more than most pitchers, creating bone-on-bone contact. He has been cleared to ease his way back on the mound, but it's not clear how much longer he'll be sidelined.

Anthony Slama will have an MRI on his sore right elbow Monday.

The Twins don't seem to be all that concerned and Slama told reporters that he is hoping to resume his spring throwing program in the next 2-3 days. He's trying to secure a bullpen gig in camp this spring.

Twins optioned RHP Anthony Slama to Triple-A Rochester.

Slama had been up for nearly a week in his latest stint with the Twins but didn't appear in a game. He holds a 7.71 ERA on the year in five appearances for the Twinkies, and although he has the ability to succeed in the late innings at some point, he can be ignored for fantasy purposes for now.

Twins recalled RHP Anthony Slama from Triple-A Rochester.

Slama posted a 9.64 ERA over five relief outings for the Twins earlier this season and is unlikely to find major league success this time around.
