Red Sox recalled RHP Robert Manuel from Triple-A Pawtucket.
He'll take the place on the roster of Manny Delcarmen, who was traded to the Rockies earlier this afternoon. Manuel has a 3.86 ERA in five appearances over two brief stints with the Red Sox this season. The 26-year-old right-hander had a sterling 1.68 ERA in 45 appearances with Triple-A Pawtucket. He deserves a look down the stretch. Tue, Aug 31, 2010 04:35:00 PM

Mariners acquired RHP Robert Manuel from the Reds for outfielder Wladimir Balentien.

Not a bad return for the Mariners considering that they clearly had no use for Balentien in their future plans.
