Twins released RHP Tim Wood.
This comes on the heels of Wood undergoing season-ending arthroscopic shoulder surgery last week. The 30-year-old didn't throw a pitch in the majors this season and made just nine appearances in the minors. He'll hope for better luck in 2014. Wed, Aug 28, 2013 02:14:00 PM

Rangers designated RHP Tim Wood for assignment.

He was cleared so the Rangers could make room for Matt Treanor and Mike Gonzalez on the 40-man roster. Wood, who was just acquired from the Pirates earlier this month, was knocked around for five runs over 4 2/3 innings during his brief time with Triple-A Round Rock. There's a good chance he remains with the organization.
