Tim Wood will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder Wednesday.

Wood, currently on the disabled list with a right rotator cuff strain, was shut down from his minor league assignment last week due to recurring shoulder soreness. There should be more clarity on his status in the coming days.

Tim Wood has been shut down from his rehab assignment after developing more soreness in his pitching shoulder.

He'll be examined at the Twins' Triple-A affiliate in Rochester. Wood is coming back from a rotator cuff strain and had allowed six runs over his last three rehab appearances.

He's expected to move up to Triple-A Rochester after that. Coming back from a rotator cuff strain, Wood should be ready for activation before the end of the month.

Tim Wood (shoulder) could be ready to pitch in an extended spring training game as soon as Thursday.

Wood, currently on the disabled list with a rotator cuff strain, made it through his second bullpen session Monday without any issues. He's out of options, so the Twins will either have to expose him to waivers or add him to the active roster once he's back to full health.

It's not clear how long it will sideline him, but obviously Wood probably isn't going to make the Opening Day bullpen now. He's posted a 4.91 ERA with 10 strikeouts over 11 innings this spring.

The deal includes an invitation to spring training. Wood, 29, posted a 2.19 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 67/23 K/BB ratio over 70 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis in 2012. He'll compete for a role in the Twins' bullpen.

Wood was designated for assignment at the end of August so that the Rangers could clear spots on their 40-man roster for September callups. He was able to clear waivers.

He was cleared so the Rangers could make room for Matt Treanor and Mike Gonzalez on the 40-man roster. Wood, who was just acquired from the Pirates earlier this month, was knocked around for five runs over 4 2/3 innings during his brief time with Triple-A Round Rock. There's a good chance he remains with the organization.

He has been assigned to Triple-A Round Rock. Wood, 28, was designated for assignment by the Pirates last week after posting a 5.63 ERA over 13 appearances at the major league level this season and a 2.84 ERA and 32/12 K/BB ratio over 44 1/3 innings in the minors. He'll function as organizational depth.

Wood was a disaster in eight major-league innings this season, allowing five runs while issuing eight walks and notching just two strikeouts. He was much better in 44 2/3 innings of work for Triple-A Indianapolis, however, posting a 2.84 ERA and 0.99 WHIP. He should be able to latch on with another organization fairly easily.
