Suk-Min Yoon (shoulder) threw a successful simulated game on Sunday and is close to rejoining Triple-A Norfolk.

The 27-year-old has had a disappointing and injury-riddled season in his first year stateside, registering a 5.76 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 53/15 K/BB ratio over 75 innings at Triple-A Norfolk. He's unlikely to pitch for the Orioles this season.
Jul 13 - 5:31 PM

Suk-min Yoon (shoulder) is scheduled to return on July 19.

The Baltimore Sun's Eduardo Encina said Yoon has started a throwing program in his return from a shoulder impingement. Yoon received a cortisone shot in the shoulder on July 2. When he does return, it will be to the Orioles' Triple-A club.
Jul 9 - 6:29 PM

Suk-min Yoon (shoulder) had a cortisone injection Wednesday.

Yoon was placed on the disabled list at Triple-A Norfolk on June 23 with a shoulder impingement. He has a rough 5.76 ERA in 75 innings this season at Triple-A and seems doubtful to make it to the majors in 2014. The 27-year-old right-hander out of South Korea signed a three-year, $5.75 million contract with the Orioles in February.
Jul 2 - 7:35 PM

Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette said Monday that Suk-min Yoon is dealing with a right shoulder impingement.

Yoon, who signed with the Orioles in February, injured his shoulder during the sixth inning of his most recent start on Saturday. He'll skip his next start and get some extra rest before being reevaluated. The 27-year-old owns an ugly 5.76 ERA and 53/15 K/BB ratio in 75 innings over 15 starts with Triple-A Norfolk this season.
Jun 23 - 5:41 PM

Suk-min Yoon has been placed on the disabled list at Triple-A Norfolk with a right shoulder strain.

He could be out for a significant period of time. Yoon, who was signed out of the Korean Baseball Organization this winter for three years, $5.75 million, owns a rough 5.76 ERA in 75 innings this season at Triple-A. The 27-year-old doesn't look like a promising prospect.
Jun 23 - 11:53 AM

Orioles right-handed pitcher Suk-min Yoon went 5 2/3 innings on Friday, allowing eight hits and two runs (1 earned) for Triple-A Norfolk.

Yoon sports a 9.49 ERA and batters are hitting .417/.462/.633 against him, so the relatively small investment made by the Orioles in the KBO alum looks like it won't have much of a return in the near term.
Apr 19 - 11:22 AM

Suk-Min Yoon will make his first start with Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

Yoon, a 27-year-old right-hander out of South Korea, signed a three-year, $5.75 million contract with the Orioles in February. The Orioles want him to get some innings under his belt, but he should contribute with the big club soon.
Apr 8 - 2:38 PM

Orioles optioned RHP Suk-Min Yoon to Triple-A Norfolk.

Yoon didn't get enough innings this spring to compete for a major league rotation spot due to work visa issues, so he will open the season in Triple-A. The 27-year-old native of South Korea was signed to a three-year, $5.75 million contract in February and should make his MLB debut at some point this summer.
Mar 19 - 4:49 PM

Suk-Min Yoon made his spring debut Saturday with a scoreless inning of relief against the Yankees.

Yoon threw 11 pitches. The first of those came in at 91 mph, but the rest of his fastballs were either 89 or 90 mph on the MASN gun. He also mixed in an 85-mph slider and a 74-mph curve. Expectations are that Yoon will continue to build up his arm in the minors at the beginning of the season. He should get a look in the rotation at some point during the year.
Mar 15 - 3:44 PM

Suk-min Yoon is scheduled to make his Orioles' debut on Saturday.

Yoon is hoping to arrive in Orioles' camp on Thursday after finally obtaining his work visa. Because of the time he's missed, the South Korean right-hander is likely to begin the year in extended spring training before heading to Triple-A. He'll be a fallback bullpen option after that.
Mar 12 - 11:23 AM

Suk-Min Yoon is hoping to report to Orioles' camp on Thursday after getting his work visa.

Yoon has a visa appointment Monday and will report to camp a couple days after that assuming he has no issues. He's missed enough time at this point where it seems unlikely that he'll have a shot to crack the Opening Day roster. Yoon could begin the year in extended spring training before going to Triple-A.
Mar 9 - 10:00 AM

Suk-Min Yoon is scheduled to fly to Canada on March 10 in order to obtain his work visa.

The date keeps getting pushed back, which has prevented Yoon from making his Grapefruit League debut. It's possible he'll pitch in a simulated game before he leaves for Canada, but the Orioles would obviously like to get a better look at him before the start of the season. As of now, it's likely he'll begin the year in the minors.
Mar 5 - 11:42 AM

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Saturday that Suk-Min Yoon's spring debut has been delayed while the right-hander is still working on obtaining his work visa.

He was expected to appear in his first game with the O's either March 6 or 7, but there now appears to be no definitive timetable for that appearance. The longer he goes without appearing in a game, the stronger the chances that he'll begin the season in the minor leagues.
Mar 1 - 11:38 AM

Suk-Min Yoon will appear in his first game with the Orioles on March 6 or 7.

It still remains unclear whether the Orioles plan to use the Korean right-hander out of the bullpen or in the rotation in 2014. They could also option him to the minors for the start of the year while he adjusts to professional baseball in the U.S. Unless he winds up with a spot in the Opening Day rotation, his fantasy value will be minimal in all but the deepest of AL-only formats.
